FIRST IMPRESSION

728 Words
Monday morning arrived faster than Kamryn had expected. She barely slept the previous night, her mind racing with thoughts about the company, the CEO, and whether she was truly prepared for the task ahead. Her alarm rang at 6:00 a.m,she got up and she began getting ready. Today wasn’t just the first day of a job—it was her first day as the personal assistant to The Jackson Miller, the CEO of The Millers International. She wore a black and white stripped shirt, paired with a black cooperate pant. Her hair was tied neatly in a ponytail, and she wore simple black heels. She glanced at herself in the mirror one last time, took a deep breath, and whispered, “You’ve got this, Kamryn.” She went to get a cab. The cab ride to The Millers International was quiet, giving her time to mentally prepare. She had read everything she could about the company, the CEO, and their operations, but nothing could fully prepare her for the sheer size and opulence of the place. As she stepped out of the cab, the building seemed to tower even taller than before, the glass reflecting the morning sun. Inside, she was greeted by the receptionist, who gave her a polite smile and directed her to the staff elevator again. This time, she made sure to arrive at the elevator before anyone else. The ride up was smooth, but her heart raced with anticipation. When the elevator doors opened, she found herself in a sleek, open-floor office space buzzing with activity. Assistants hurried past with documents, managers spoke quietly into their phones, and the faint smell of strong coffee mixed with luxury perfume lingered in the air. And then she saw him. Jackson Miller. He was standing near the windows, arms crossed, staring out at the city. His presence alone demanded attention, and Kamryn felt an almost magnetic pull toward him, though she quickly reminded herself to stay professional. “Good morning, Miss Taylor,” his deep voice cut through her thoughts. He didn’t even look at her fully as he spoke. “Follow me. Orientation starts in my office.” Kamryn nodded and followed him through the pristine hallways. The office was just as intimidating as she remembered from her interview—the polished floors, the expensive artwork, the sleek modern furniture—but now it was her daily environment. “Sit,” he said, gesturing to a chair across from his desk. He looked sharper than ever in a tailored black suit. “Good morning, sir,” Kamryn said, placing her bag neatly beside her chair. Mr Miller barely acknowledged her greeting. “Orientation will be brief. I have high expectations. You will learn the structure of the company, your responsibilities, and the standards we uphold. Fail to meet them, you'll be relieved of your duties. Do I make myself clear?” “Yes, sir,” Kamryn replied confidently. He slid a thick folder across the desk toward her. “Start by reviewing this. It’s the company handbook, schedules, and your first week’s tasks. I want results, not excuses.” Kamryn opened the folder, carefully skimming the pages. The workload was intense, but she reminded herself she was capable. She had survived much tougher challenges before—this was just another one. Mr Miller finally looked at her, eyes sharp and calculating. “I don’t believe in motivation speeches, Miss Taylor. I believe in actions. Prove yourself, or you’ll find yourself replaced.” Kamryn nodded, a small smile tugging at her lips. “Understood, sir. I won’t disappoint you.” "Before I forget, I hate lateness, excuses and incompetence" He gave her a nod before returning to his phone. Kamryn exhaled, silently telling herself that she was going to survive this—no, thrive. She had finally found a place where she could prove herself, and for the first time in a long while, she felt a spark of hope. As she left his office, she went straight to her office. She went through the files Mr miller had handed to her earlier just to get familiar with everything and stay off Mr Miller's bad book. Monday was just the beginning, And she was ready for whatever came next. She was ready to face every challenge Mr Miller threw at her. She wasn't going to give up.
