THE INTERVIEW
Kamryn Taylor had recently been fired from her previous Job and she has been jobless for a month now. She had been applying for different jobs ever since she got fired but all to no avail, she would often grab her phone, open her email and scroll through multiple rejected emails. She survived in her small apartment by herself, silence became her companion, Kamryn had always been a fighter, she fought through her parent's death, she fought through school, but even fighters get tired. She was already tired of the whole jobless situation until one wednesday afternoon. Kamryn got an email from one of the companies she had applied for but ignored it because she thought it was another rejection email, but then the notification preview caught her attention: SUBJECT: INTERVIEW INVITATION FROM: THE MILLERS INTERNATIONAL She sat upright so fast as she began to open the email. Dear Miss Taylor, We are pleased to inform you that you have been listed for an interview with the CEO of The Millers International. Your interview is scheduled for 9a.m on Thursday. She read it twice to be sure it wasn't a scam. She screamed loud. The Millers International isn't just any company but it was one of the biggest companies owned by one of the youngest multi-Billionaire tech moguls. Kamryn began picking outfits, she decided on a black pant and a blue shirt with a simple black handbag and heels. She barely slept that night. The next morning Kamryn had arrived at the company, she had never seen a place like this before. She stood in front of the Glass doors, the sight of the building intimidated her. The place was breathtaking and massive, it was like a modern castle except it was a company. A big sign at the top front of the building: THE MILLERS INTERNATONAL THE MILLERS INTERNATIONAL, owned by Mr Jackson Miller,a multi-Billionare and Tech mogul. He was also known as one of the youngest CEOs but popularly known as the strictest, coldest, most uptight boss. Inside the company, everything oozed luxury, from the luxury perfumes, to the polished marbles, to the fresh documents, to the staff walking around in nice suits. She felt a bit intimidated though but didn't let it get to her. The receptionist greeted her and directed her to the elevator the staff used. She inhaled, exhaled, inhaled again and exhaled again. She was a bit nervous. Kamryn was twenty-three years old and she just graduated business school a year ago where she majored in business management and was in serious need of a stable job to meet up with her needs. She had no immediate family member ever since her parents died, her father died years ago and her mother died 2 years ago from a long term illness. Ever since then, life has been really rough for her since she was also the only child and had no one to depend on but herself. The elevator doors opened and she stepped into the hallway, with the perfect lightings, a mix Smell of expensive perfumes and new furniture with a touch of nice coffee. Looking round, her eyes came in contact with Him. Mr Jackson Miller, the youngest Billionaire CEO, popularly known being uptight, strict, cold and difficult to impress who stood by the tall windows, folded hands, black suit fitting him like it was sewn to his skin. “You’re late” he said. Kamryn swallowed a lump "My interview was for 9 am Sir" “But it's 8:58” he replied "Every serious and business minded person know you ought to be at least 10 minutes early, which means you were supposed to be here at 8:50.” Kamryn faked a smile “Apologies Sir” He walked to his desk, sat, and gestured for her to take the seat opposite him. “This is going to be brief because I don't like wasting time and I have more important things to do” Throughout the interview, he barely looked at her, he was either on his phone or flipping through files. He shot questions like fire balls— about scheduling, research, multitasking, report drafting, problem solving skill, travel organizing, and how well she could work under pressure. Kamryn answered all the questions honestly. When he finally looked at her. “I don’t tolerate lateness” he said. “I hate excuses” “I hate incompetence” "I hate laziness" “And most of all, I hate people who think they are irreplaceable” Kamryn nodded slightly “I understand, sir.” “You start Monday,” he said. Kamryn smiled “I got the job?” He ignored the question "You will receive a contract and orientation package before you leave.” She stood up “Thank you, sir. I promise you won’t regret it” "Actions over words" he said in a stern voice. She left the office and went home.
