1. Unsighty
Every time Cory looked at the mirror she asked herself, what is the reason of our existence? What does it really mean to live? In her 17 years of existence, she doesn’t seem to find the answer.
Cory looked out in the window. She saw kid's running in the road... playing, smiling and laughing. She was jealous of their naivety, and envied their carefree life. In her childhood days, she never felt that feeling of freedom and carelessness. She is Jealous
Her eyes landed on their neighbor’s house at front.
The house is itself is ordinary, an average two story house not different from their so called home, and yet you can feel that whoever lives inside that house is in a different level than them. It was the Jules’s Residence.
One fate full day 6 months ago, Mr. and Mrs. Jules family moved in this rundown town. The family is said to be one of the richest family in the state. Puzzling everyone in the town, why did they choose to stay in this run down town?
They moved together with their daughter whose unnatural beauty captured everyone’s eyes.
Tatiana Jules
People in the town after knowing that Jules family is here, flocked at their drive way, wanting to catch a glimpse of the said family wondering why, why move here?
Their daughter attended the local senior high school in the town. Salt Lake High.
That is where Tania's romance started. It was where she met Logan Barn. Recognizing them as the most known and respected couple of the town.
Every time Cory and Tania have classes together, she would stay in the corner and look at her, she finds herself entranced with her beauty. Her eyes golden brown, her skin fare as the snow, her hair black as it gets darker, And her smile. Her smile that can melt every inch of her worries away.
She wonders, how would it feel to be treated right? How does it feel to be held with love? To be looked at with love in their eyes. Not pity, disgust nor anger.
Her only dream is to be treated right. How could such a dream be so hard to attain?
Her day dreaming was soon put to an end when she heard a harsh knock on the door.
She opened the door and was welcomed with a slap.
“Can’t you f*****g hear that we are calling for you? Stupid little b***h???" she asked anger in her voice.
"I... I’m sorry... I was pre occupied" Cory replied with a trembling voice looking at the floor never daring to look at her mother’s ranging eyes.
“Stupid... your father wants you downstairs... Understand??" she asked irritation in her voice.
“Y... yes mother" Cory muttered.
Cory followed her mother whose perfume can be smell from miles away, her face full of make up as if a child tried to do her make up... her clothes covering almost nothing from its material as a see thru, her hair coiled in a messy bun, with a cigarette in her right hand.
Her mother descended the stairs Cory fallowing closely while looking at the floor. She can already hear the TV running with her father’s voice shouting at it as if the TV would respond.
“Stupid! Punch in the right... i***t! “Her father shouted, while sitting in his couch, pointing with his finger with a cigarette in his hand, beer in his left, the button of his uniform clipped out showing his white shirt bulging from his big belly
This is Cory's life her mother full of bitterness because of a failed marriage with a vulgar, small man, her father a supposed to be respected police man, who casually beats his daughter for no reason.
“You know the Jules family in the front right" her father asked with a bored tone. She simply nods, not saying anything.
“Well their daughter is organizing a party and i want you to be there and stuck yourself like a leech in their daughter. Do you understand??" her mother demanded with firmness in her voice. Cory said nothing and just nodded...
"Good, go back to your hole, your making my eye hurt!” her mother dismissed her.
Cory silently walked up the stairs, never looking back and thinking to herself. What should she do? She doesn’t want to go since; it would surely be full of people. People whom she doesn’t want to interact with. Even if she wants to say no, she knew she doesn’t have the courage to say so. She also knew that if she ever uttered the word no. They would punish her again.
So she never uttered the word no and would always agree with her parents, it makes her life easier and manageable.
She entered her room and locked the door, looking around she can feel that her room is dead, it only consist of a bed, a chair and a table, a closet, a bathroom door and a window. No posters, no decorations nothing. Cory never tried to decorate her room since she felt that it’s meaningless since she knew that her mother would just mock her and threw it all away.
There was a time when she had the courage to say no, it resulted to 2 broken ribs, broken finger, a foot sprain, and bruises in her face. She was not permitted to eat for 2 days, just when they found her collapsed in her room, did they called a doctor, afraid to be in jail.
Even though her case was severe the doctor didn’t report anything from the proper authorities, since he is his father’s brother, furthermore they won’t dare tamper their name.
She was never like this you know? There were times when she wished for her parents love and affection, she did everything to catch their attention and approval, and witch resulted to insult and mockery. After that, she never tried.
Opening the bathroom door, she looked at herself, her face porcelain like and yet, her body full of scars her eyes so dull, her body so thin and unsightly
How disgustingly ugly
