Chapter 7 By the time Tabby and Rob got all the details ironed out with Lou and managed to escape, the cold rain outside had finally turned into sleet. Nothing had collected on the sidewalks or the street just yet. But it sizzled down all around them, and she heard tiny pellets bouncing off of her hood. Rob groaned and held out his arm, waiting for Tabby to grab hold before they dashed across the street. They darted through the extra slow traffic building up for the impending rush hour, bringing the promise of horrific snarl-ups to come. The air felt sharp and a bit harsh after the warm, fragrant bakery, but she was still glad to get out of the Hummingbird for the first time since she’d started working downtown years ago.
