Chapter 4

Another lightening bolt crackles through the sky, lightening up darkened weather, it was 4:pm in the evening but it already looks like 7 pm, she is totally soaked from head till toe, as she approaches the schools entrance, she started at it for a while then read what was written on the letter head of the pillar of the school, “welcome to Virginia Community College".

Colton's pov

I work at a diner, part time anyways, I study during the day and work here at night, having a little time for sleep. My shift has just ended and I was about going home, but the down pour was so much, the sky was as dark as smoke without enough oxygen, it was so dark it seemed like it was night time, “can I borrow a coat?" I asked Larry a colleague of mine, “sure, check out back" he said as I went towards the back of the diner and saw a racket holding multiple jackets, I picked out the yellow one, put it on and headed into rain.

I haven't really gone far when I saw someone, it was a lady she was walking under this heavy down pour, moving in the direction of campus, but it was still a long way to go, but as usual I minded my own business, and headed to my dorm.

I got to my hall way, took a left turn and finally was in front of my room door, I inserted my keys and turned the lock a click sound was heard, I applied a little force and the door slid open making a creaking sound, I saw my room mate laying down on his bed like a log, “hey Colton" I stared at him “hi Rex' I replied him perfunctorily and headed to the bathroom, I went to the sink, turned on the tap and splashed a little water on my face, wiping it with both my palms slowly, the water was cold, probably because of the weather.

I stared directly into the mirror looking at my pale white face, I had an earring on one of my ears, it was a cross, it dangled continuously, the dangling cross, and the cold rainy weather reminded me of when I was little:

My dad could be seen returning from the Delvin packs, we were all anxious wondering if he was ever going to comeback, he had been consulting with them for about three years now, he has been trying to help them track down a wolf that had run away. He came back and my mom hugged him, my mom was human, and he was something that everyone detests, a hell hound.

“they found the runaway wolf and they killed her and her husband but, spared her little daughter" he told us “im just glad that you came back home and its all over" my mom said hugging him deeply. My dad's features were visible that he wasn't human but me being his child part Human, part hound I looked completely human but, I can shift into a hound at will, I don't show people this part of me, because they'd freak out,

I still remembered when my mom was teaching me how to control it, she was a human but still she had succeeded inteaching me, well it was on a day like this cold and wet, I had successfully transformed into a hound but I couldn't change back, I groaned frustratedly “honey it's alright there's no need to be frustrated, all you have to do is think of what you love the most, it'll calm you down" she said as I tried to calm down, I breathed out slowly, and gradually I changed back “bravo! Bravo!" She said and I smiled.

That was the last happy memory I have of her before she died, leaving me all alone with my dad, but her death broke him and he left me all alone, I became withdrawn, and all alone, and thats the way I liked it just me.

My mind drifted back to reality, and I splashed water again on my face. I looked into the room and saw that Rex was still awake I wasn't up for a chat, so I got to the window, and climbed unto the balcony, as the cold brisk wind wind blew across, my face as I was getting slightly drenched by the rain, but I didn't care, I was feeling the presense of my mom that's all that matters.

Luna's pov

I had finally gotten to the dean's office, and I knocked at the door, it creaked open and a middle aged woman wearing reading glasses came out to meet me, “hello dear, oh my you are drenched, come in, come in" she gestured for me to go inside the office. “you must be cold, would you like a cup of coffee?" She asked me I just stared her coldly “come on I insist" she said again and I just nodded.

As she brewed the pot of coffee she asked me while the coffee brews woukd you mind telling me why a young lady like yourself, would take the hassle of the weather to come here?" I just submitted my admission letter to her, “ohh I see" ding went the coffee machine “ohh it's ready" she said as she ooured us two two cups.

We finalize the details of my admission and she called someone to show me where my dorm was going to be, “she'll be here soon" I just nodded “you are not much of a talker are you, well what ever is bothering you Luna it's never wise to hokd on to anger for too long" I just stared at her I knew she was trying to help me but, I didn't need he telling me what to do.

Finally someone came into the office she was white, she had short hair, she looked gothic in the all black clothes she was wearing, and the heavy eye liner she wore. “selene, this is Luna and Luna meet selene, you both are going to be roommates, selene show Luna around the school when the weather is better that is, but for now take her to your dorm" she said as Selene beconed for us to go.

we got to the dorm, “this is going to be your bed, the one over there is mine, and we've got to other roommates but they aren't back yet, just feel at home" she said I just crashed down in my bed feeling really sad and angry, I let the tears flow down freely from my face. I think selene noticed it but didn't know how to ask me what the problem was well how was I going to explain my predicament to her it's just better she leaves me be.

Luna's pov

The next day was a bright and sunny one, it was almost as If it hadn't rained the previous day, but puddles of water made it evident that there was a downpour. I was still in bed recovering from my terrible experience when, I heard a loud c**k crow, I wondered who brought a bird to school, it crowed again, and again repeatedly pissing me off, “maggie your alarm is going off again" selene yelled she was in the bathroom.

“Just help me and turn it off please" she yelled from the bathroom, but Selena wasn't moving as quickly as I would've liked to turn it off, the sound was pissing me off, “tuen the bloody thing off!" I yelled but immediately regretted it because my anger had caused my features to become slightly wolf like and selene saw it, “woah dude chill out it's just an alarm" she said acting as if she didn't notice it, I was slightly relieved.

My features had gone back to being regular human again, I was silently scolding myself for bursting out like that, but to be fair I didn't know that anger triggers it, I just wanted a normal life, I didn't want any complication, “alright guys bye!" Maggie said leaving Selene and I in the room, our other room mate had already gone to class.

“i am so surprised right now Luna, you know since yesterday when I saw you I knew something about you was different, but I couldn't tell how much, well I guess now I know, you are a were wolf aren't you?" I gasped really shocked.......
