Chapter one. Zuria Maxwell's head was pounding unrelentingly. Or was it someone at the door? No, she realised the sound came from within her. She tried opening her eyes but closed them in a snap as sunlight beams heightened the pounding from a hurricane to a tsunami. She moved her jaw and felt her mouth was dry ,her skin felt clammy and her throat felt like sand paper. Her whole body hurt especially her shoulder that was throbbing at war with the pound in her head. Dear heavens, what is wrong with me?, am I sick?, she thought. At that jumbled memories of last night came rushing back. She jolted up, wincing as her migraine decided to take a marathon. She held her head in her hands while taking deep breaths to calm the nausea that had come too. Where was I? That wasn’t more important than the fact that she was naked, bruised everywhere, and sore in her privates obviously thanks to the very large man spread with one of his legs holding hers and snoring on the bed sleeping. She was in a cabin. A newly built one and neat except for her tattered clothes on the floor. Dear God, what had i done? She thought miserably. She had prided herself on not being the kind of girl who did things like one night stands. Especially not the cheating type. Oh no, Josh! Damn it! She moaned as the memories of the night before came surging back. Her roomies had invited her to farewell camp party. She’d come with Josh her boyfriend except by the end of the night she had had wild monkey s*x with a stranger. Emphasis on wild because the things she had done she wouldn't do were she sober.She looked back at the man's sleeping profile. He was deeply asleep. She hoped he wouldn't wake up and if she could somehow ease out from under him without waking him, she could leave. Now if he woke ,she could almost imagine it… In a few words she would die of embarrassment. She tried lifting his thigh but it was heavier than she had thought not to mention it accelerated the pain in her aching body. Gritting her teeth to keep from crying out, she crawled from the bed and got up. She limped to the bathroom to ease her nearly busting bladder. “Ouch!” Eyes widening, she shot them at the sleeping form and put a hand to her lips to keep herself from making further noise that might wake the man. She felt a painful burning sensation as urine went out of her passage. She came out and went through her clothes but everything was beyond salvageable. Looking around ,she noticed a large wardrobe by the wall. She limped towards it. She rummaged through the clothes until she found a pair of shorts and a t-shirt. Bigger but had to do. Putting on clothes has never been painful.She silently close the wardrobe and started forward only to trip . Luckily she painfully caught the herself before she fell. However the man turned. She stilled. She silently sighed in relief when he went back to sleep then limped to the door before he actually awoke. She walked a short distance then stopped and threw up . Great! Am never going a centimetre near alcohol again ,she thought. She got up praying hard that no one was awake this early at the camp. ******* The two watched the girl exit the cabin. “That didn’t go the way we planned at all.” The younger man said furiously and started towards the girl who was busy emptying her stomach on the forest floor . “Well, i’ll help him finish this.” He had only gone one step when the older man pulled him back by his shirt and they hid once again behind the ant hill. “What the....” “Its not becoming to be so unaware of your surroundings, boy. You’ll get us caught or worse yet killed. I will not have anyone ruin my plans, not even you.” Confused the young man turned and noticed another girl had come and was aiding the girl away. That had been close, he sighed in relief for his father would have beaten him to a bloody pulp if they'd seen them. He turned to him to see a calculating gleam in his eye. “I think your latest mistake will put my plans back on track.” He stated after awhile. Chapter two. “You have an awful lot of energy for one who is four month pregnant .” Zuria placed the dirty dishes in the sink and looked up at her friend and co-worker, Noah Jefferson leaning on the counter his bulging arms crossed across his chest. Yummy! She inwardly sighed. Seriously though why did such a yummilious guy have to bat for the other team. At least he was her best friend, maybe the hotness would rub off on her. His expression was torn between amusement and exasperation. She grinned. “Five, well in a few days I’ll be five months along. As for energy, guess am luckier than most.” And indeed she was .She had only had morning sickness for two months barring the first month where even the doctor had been losing hope in her recovery. Recovered she had and at an alarming speed. “If you call eating the diner’s profits lucky, then I guess you are.” Leah Matthews mattered. She was in charge of cleaning. She was a bit rough around the edges. She had brown eyes and black hair she had cut into a Bob. She was short and well rounded especially her behind which was big something she had in common with Zuria. On the other hand Zuria had hated it growing up as boys used it as a punchline for their jokes and a little later grabbed by one of her mother’s boyfriend explaining he had to check if it was a real one or not. “Now don't be mean ,Leah.” Noah said in a sing song voice. She left them to their bickering and picked up the remain of pieces of cake then sat on the plastic chair she had put in the kitchen for when she needed to rest her back. God she loved chocolate cake. “No wonder the profits have been declining and here I thought we were having too many slow nights.” Leah smirked and sent them an ‘I told you so’ look .Zuria looked up at her boss. Rowena Mackenzie stood in the door way of the kitchen arms akimbo ,her green eyes sparkling mischievously. She wore her red hair long and a tight red dress that curved her body and made her look ten years younger than her fifty years. They all liked the woman immensely, she was the best boss ever. To Zuria, she was her life's saviour. “This is the only diner I know where they stock count crumbs!," She gave Rowena her best crestfallen look. “Crumbs!, as if.” Rowena snorted but her face turned serious as she eyed her very large stomach. “Are you sure it’s okay to eat that much though?” Noah and Leah turned to her frowning. “I don’t think there is a problem at all.” She assured them. “its probably because am carrying four little people. God am always hungry!” “Have they called yet.”Rowena asked. They all knew who the ‘we’ were. She had decided to put the children for adoption. Although the decision hurt her even to think about, she realised it was for the best. At least they would have a better life than hers had been. “No but I still have four months left. But if at that time none is willing to take all four at once then I’ll just accept dividing them up.” She pushed away the plate her appetite deserting her from the mere thought. She looked up to see a look pass through them. “What's that look?” “We are closing early today and we are taking you somewhere.” Rowena declared excitedly. “Is there food?” She asked half jokingly as she stood and they all groaned. “Z ,we wouldn’t be so cruel leave your soulmate out now would we?” Noah faked offense.She smiled and elbowed him in the stomach making laughing and she moved out to complete her work.
