The spring

Chapter 14. With hands clasped behind her back, Amaya made her way to Tobias office as Dana had directed her. When she reached the door, she stopped. She looked at the closed door, different emotions ran through her body. Why did he want to see her? Hadn't he done enough? What could he possibly want from her this time around? At that point, she wished she had a knife or a sharp object which she could use to secretly slide his throat while she was in that room with him. Nobody would know about it. Knock! Knock! She knocked and was about to do so the third time, when the door opened from inside. "Oh" Tobias smiled in recognition, when he saw Amaya. "Come in." He waved at her and made his way inside. Amaya nodded with a fake smile on her face as she followed him. "You can sit over there." Tobias pointed at the seat opposite his desk. "Thank you." She answered obediently and sat down, her eyes looking around the room. It wasn't a big office. But the big window behind her made it look good. There was a long old wooden shelf behind Tobias, which covered the entire wall behind him. Amaya was restless as she waited for Tobias to say whatever it was that he had called her for so that she could leave. Being in the room with him only made different dangerous thoughts work up in her mind. Tobias leaned into his table, hands criss cross under his chin. "Well, I didn't call you here for anything important. I just wanted to know more about you, since you are working in my home." Amaya nodded. Her eyes fixed on the table, not able to look at him in the face. He could recognize her. If only he knew her before. "Okay." She nodded. "How is your family? Do they live in this pack?" Amaya, who wasn't expecting that question, felt a sharp pain in her chest. She took a deep breath to calm down herself. She didn't want to make anything that obvious. "Everyone is fine. However, they are not presently in the pack." "What's your name?" "Aiko" she replied, with no aim of continuing with the conversation. Buzzz buzzz "Excuse me..." Tobias said, lifting his finger up. He picked up his phone that was ringing. He answered the phone and placed it against his ears. Amaya used that opportunity to scan the room. Maybe the documents for that spring were somewhere here. They could be inside the drawers that were linked to the table in front of her. "I'm sorry that I have to cut this meeting short. I have somewhere important to be." "Alright." Amaya nodded and stood up. "Hopefully, we get to have this meeting again." Amaya shook her head. 'Maybe in the next life' She said and walked outside. Once she made her way to her room, she knew that she had already had enough. It was high time she began with her plan. She had had enough time in the pack. At least, she knew some places in the pack. ** Amaya woke up from the little nap she had after she left Tobias office. She checked the wall clock across her bed. The time read, 3:15 PM. She shook her head after she realized that she hadn't served Hiro and Kazumi this afternoon. Then she remembered that she hadn't heard Hiro's mind link. If he was that hungry, he would have mind linked her. "It's just a day, they won't die." She hurried to the bathroom. She had somewhere important to go to. She had only heard about it and hadn't been there before. Luckily enough, she had asked Dana earlier this morning where the spring was and she had hesitantly told her. She got dressed in a black t-shirt and jeans. With a black hoodie over her head. The weather wasn't exactly good outside. It looked like it will rain. But she didn't care about that as this was her only chance. 'Are you sure you want to do this?' Ena asked as Amaya was ready to shift. It has been a long, since she transformed into her wolf. She had done that the first time Ena came to life. 'I have never been more sure of anything in my life' Amaya responded and immediately shifted into a big brown wolf and sprinted off. It took her almost 30 minutes to find her way to the spring. It was secluded in a thick forest. The leaves of the tall trees provided a shade to the forest giving it a dark atmosphere. It was utterly quiet as Amaya transformed into her human form. She walked through the narrow archway amongst the words. It looked like no one had been there for a decade. Yet, she was sure as hell that people visited this place. If not Alpha Tobias, maybe spies who came to check up on the place. She could tell all these by fallen grass that looked like someone had walked over. The path she traveled across was a bit hilly. She climbed up, her eyes looking keenly at her environment to be sure if there were any spies around or perhaps any danger. At the top of the small hill, she started descending. Her footsteps halted, when her eyes came in contact with what looked to be a cave. "That should be it." She whispered mostly to herself in excitement and sprinted down the hill. There was an open area just at the entrance of the cave which looked to be cleared. There wasn't a single green grass around it. 'This isn't right. I smell danger.' Ena tried to make a stop, from taking another step further, but she waved it off and moved forward. Once she was closer at the top of the cave, she could hear the soft waves of water inside the cave. She jerked her head forward and glared ahead. She blinked almost immediately when she spotted a soft glow of purple light casting through the spring. What could that be? Was this spring as mysterious as she had heard? Curiosity got the best of her and she decided to go see things for herself. However, she felt like someone or something was holding her from moving. She couldn't move a leg. She looked at the spot where she was standing. Yet, there was nothing on it. She tried to move it again, but nothing happened. 'Can't move my legs, Ena' fear gripped her. She tried again but nothing happened. 'I told you. Your curiosity got us into trouble. I can't do anything either." She shrugged. If only she had listened. Sshhhh! Sshhhh! She heard an unfamiliar noise amongst the tall trees behind her. The hairs at the back of her neck stood erect as she turned behind. Just what had she gotten herself into. She whipped her head around. Her eyes caught sight of the forest behind her. The shrubs were shaking as though a giant animal was passing through them. She scanned it as sweat formed on her body. Unease settled within. Just then, two black and huge rogues emerged from that direction. "NO!" Amaya gasped as she tried to move her legs. Her eyes fixed on the two rogues which took slow steps towards her with a pair of really dark eyes. You couldn't tell the difference between their eyes and their fur. "Please, I'm not an enemy, I was just passing. Please." Her eyes turned teary as she pleaded. On a normal basis, she wouldn't be pleading because she could fight her way out. However, she was stuck and didn't know how she would rescue herself. The only way was to beg. 'They are almost here, Amaya. What do we do? I can't seem to do anything." Ena cried. Amaya knew that was the end for her. She wished she could mind link someone. But it would be totally useless at this point. She would be dead before anyone came to her rescue. She braced herself ready for the impact. Her eyes were closed. Her hands folded tightly across her chest. Owoooool! Owooool! Out of a sudden, she heard the loud howling of the rogues behind her. She spun around and was taken aback by the sight behind her Fire! Blazing fire! The rogues were on fire. How did that happen? How did they catch fire? What just happened? Where did the fire come from? Who lit them? Was all this happening because she had come where she was not supposed to? She wondered. "I remember telling you to be careful with what you poke your nose in. You cross the line this time, Aiko." Her heart skipped a bit when he heard that deep familiar voice she was getting used to! Hiro! Her mind called out What was he doing here and how did he find her? He was already in front of her before she could figure out anything He wore a loose white T-shirt over a pair of brown trousers. His long white hair had a brown cowboy cap over it. He stared at her with dark eyes and clenched cheek like he wanted to crunch her. "I can't move my legs." Was all she managed to let out of her mouth Hiro shook his head. He extended his hand forward and grabbed hers. He pulled her over to him with little effort. Amaya looked at the rogues that had turned into a deep of black coal She looked at where she was stuck before Hiro pulled her out. Did he cause all this?
