Chapter Sixty-ThreeI hurried outside, winking at Bruno as I hit the sidewalk. I scanned the other side of the street, searched left and right. Five minutes later found me cursing my stupidity for allowing Rafael to waylay me at the door. Conscious of the time ticking away and the meeting with Camilla, I texted Zantry as I walked, one eye out for a yellow cab. A moment later my phone pinged with a text from him: “Almost home” it read, accompanied by a nudge at the bond. I had this impression of wind on my face, of Zantry on the passenger side of a moving vehicle, windows down. When a few blocks later no taxi had gone by, empty or otherwise, I contemplated walking back to the subway, but I wasn't familiar with the schedule, or even knew which train to take to get back to Manhattan.
