Fae’s POV These people are crazy! What do you mean?! You look amazing. Amazing?! I’m wearing a freaking ballgown. Yeah and you look hot. Rolling my eyes I exited the dressing room wearing the $2,500 Gucci dress Kennealy had had the nerve to say was a good deal. “Oh my God Fae you look incredible.” Jess was bouncing in excitement. After hearing her tell me how amazing I look for the last six hours I was over it. “Come on Jess, really. When am I going to wear a floor-length evening gown?” She looked at me like I was talking crazy. “Maybe the Alpha ball dear. Or one of the pack gatherings. Or the Luna ball.” Before I could object Kennealy was jumping in. “No matter what, it’s always good to have some formal wear, and you look fabulous.” “I love that one!” Rica yelled walking up from somewhere in the store. “Try on these shoes!” I didn’t know what Jimmy Choo’s were, but I could tell just by looking at them, they were expensive. “This is all to much. You already bought me an entire wardrobe. I mean dozens of outfits.” I point to the bags surrounding us with everything from leggings, jeans, skirts and dresses to sweaters, t-shirts, pajama’s and underwear. If I even glanced at something on a rack one of them put it in a buggy, often in multiple colors. “Well, you need them dear.” Jess said simply shrugging her shoulders. “Now lets grab that dress because it’s divine on you. As well as those shoe’s Rica. Why don’t you go change back into your clothes dear?” I practically raced back to the dressing room to get changed into one of the outfits that had been bought today. The first thing we had done was get me something to wear right away so I could stop walking around in ill fitting clothes. I pulled on the jeans, blue long-sleeved t-shirt and the blue and white checkered vans. Trying not to think of the 3 other colors of the same shoe Jess had bought me before joining them to check out. The dress was boxed with tissue paper and we were finally ready to leave. “Wait!” Rica looked at Kennealy. “Weren’t you going to get the twins Cinnabon?” “Actually, I’m pretty sure I told them I absolutely would not be buying them any.” “Oh, come on we both know you didn’t mean that. Besides I want one too. Let’s go get a box.” Laughing, Kennealy let himself be dragged away. I followed at a distance behind them noticing an outdoor store we hadn’t gone into. I found myself drawn in to look at a display of hiking backpacks. “See something you like?” Jess asked softly. I found myself wanting to be open with her. “This reminds me of the one I had at first.” I point to the purple and black large hiking bag that had a ton of pockets. “The bag I saw was more like a school bag?” Jess’ tone was questioning. “Yeah. When I first left, I had more things. I knew I wasn’t going back so I packed a lot. I had a lot of clothes, books, food, toiletries, money.” I shook my head looking up at the large bag. “So many things.” “What happened to it?” “Oh, all kinds of things.” I shrugged. “Some was broken. Some stolen. Some lost. It’s hard to keep anything for long when you’re a nomad.” “What happened to the bag?” I don’t know why. Maybe because she seemed so much like a mother but I couldn't help answering. “One night I was sleeping under this dumpster.” I ignored the pained expression on her face. “And I heard someone coming down the alley. The back entrance to a local bar was in that alley, so it wasn’t strange for employees to come to smoke. They didn’t usually notice me where I was.” I could feel the fear of that night setting in. “I tried to be quiet. I don’t know if it was a shadow or just him looking in just the right place, but I was seen by a man. I think he was using the alley as a shortcut to the next block but who knows. Maybe he had seen me earlier in the night.” I glanced at Jess, and she nodded along with my story, apprehension showing on her face. “He grabbed my leg and pulled me out from my hiding place. He thought I was pretty.” Jess took my hand. “I kicked him with everything in me. I heard him yelling about me breaking his nose as I ran away.” Jess smiled squeezing my hand. “The next day I went back but the bag was gone. I had nothing but the clothes I was wearing and the $10.50 in my pocket.” “Oh, honey I am so sorry. Was this before you had Adeline?” “Oh yeah. I hadn’t been on the streets for a year yet when this happened. I was sixteen and still figuring out how to stay alive. I stopped at a shelter, and someone gave me my black backpack, a shirt and a couple pairs of socks.” I felt a small smile on my face. “Shelters always seem to give socks.” Jess reached up and took the bag off the hook. “Would you like this bag, sweetie?” I couldn’t help the tears welling in my eyes. “Do you think it’s okay? I don’t want to hurt Lycus.” “Honey, you don’t worry about that. He just wants you to be happy.” She went and paid for the bag. “Now what would you like to do?” “Can we go home?” I heard how small my voice sounded. “Let’s go home.” She took my hand and we left meeting our car with the driver who had loaded all our bags for us. Rica and Kennealy quickly joined us. When we arrived back at the packhouse I was barely out of the car when Lycus’ was racing out of the front door to me pulling me into his arms. “This was the longest day little mate.” “I’m not little.” I hugged him hard, breathing in his relaxing scent. I had really missed him. “I know baby.” He kissed the top of my head as omega’s came out of the house to gather all my bags and take them upstairs. “It looks like you did well.” “I got too much.” “I completely disagree. This looks perfect. Come on, let's go upstairs.” "I need to help get everything inside." I looked around realizing everything was already gone. "Well I can't just go upstairs I need to thank everyone." Lycus' rolled his eyes then picking me up and tossed me over his shoulder heading for the stairs. "Lycus! What are you doing?" I laughed, hitting his back lightly. "Let me down. I need to say bye to everyone." "Then I suggest you do it now." He said simply already heading up the stairs towards the second floor. “Thank you for taking me shopping!” I yelled waving at Jess, Rica and Kennealy who were doubled over laughing waving to us. The twins racing into view making a beeline for the box in Kennealy's hand. Walking into the bedroom, something seemed off. “What’s going on?” I asked as he put me down. I looked around trying to figure out what had changed. “It’s your room too. So I made room.” He pointed to the sitting area showing there were now several empty shelves. “You can help yourself to the study downstairs and put books or notebooks or whatever you want on those shelves.” He started pulling me deeper into the bedroom, sidestepping the stack of bags that had been placed in the floor. “I told them to leave them there, so we could organize however we wanted. See?” He pulled me through the bathroom into the walk-in closet. “Lycus’ what did you do?” I felt tears come to my eyes as I looked at the half-empty closet. He pointed to the dresser on the right side of the closet. “That dresser is empty too. You can organize however you want. This is your room too. And we can redecorate if you want. Bedding, curtains, paint, anything you wa…” He was cut off by me reaching up pulling him down to kiss me. His arms wound around my back, pulling me tight against him. “Thank you.” I whispered before continuing to kiss his amazing lips. He groaned against my mouth picking me up and carrying me to our bed. Our bed
