Chapter 40: Unbelievable

1784 Words
Alyssa Curtis immediately put a barrier around her in order to memorise her lines. Actually it was not necessary. She has an amazing memory and one read to the lines already imprinted in her head. In fact she still memorised every script of her from her first project until her recent project. The problem was eventually not her brain or memory's ability, but within her heart. She was also worried about herself since she was aware about the real reason for her endless mistakes during the confession scene. It was the matter of her heart. But she never expected that the impact of failing to get her love or falling in love with someone who never sees your feelings was actually so scary. Everytime they shoot for that confession scene, she could not bring herself to say her lines fluently and emotionally. No one knew the reason why. Only herself knew. Her mind, her soul, and her heart would subconsciously think that it was really herself who was confessing for her love to Xander Villaruel, her manager that she loved so much secretly since they first met, but was so afraid to say her heart loud as she always remembered how he forbid her to continue loving him. She decided not to let herself drown for such impossible love. She believed that it would only destroy her forever. Alyssa Curtis ignored her surroundings. As if she just teleported to somewhere where only she was around. She lowered her head as she pinched her brows and closed her eyes, calming herself down. Probably if her heart was calm, she could think of a way to break free from the curse of falling in love. After a short moment, she managed to calm down and thus she thought of every idea to deal with her problem. Sadly, fate was not helping her. Instead of finding a way, she became frustrated as her mind remained clueless or empty for a solution. She was about to break down when a hand suddenly tapped her shoulder. "What do you want?" Alyssa Curtis raised her head with a cold stare yet fabulous expression. Edo Padilla just smirked mysteriously, not saying a thing. "Don't smile at me like that. It's scary." Alyssa Curtis waved her hand. "I already told you. I'm not in a mood to play with you. Leave me alone. Go and play by yourself." Edo Padilla pursed his lips and then grinned like a fool. Suddenly, he extended his hand and tugged the woman's robe at the same spot where Joseph Raval got his clothes torn. "What are you trying to do this time? Auh!!!" Too late to react, Alyssa Curtis's robe was torn right across her chest, exposing her full and bulging cleavage of her pair of bosoms. Alyssa Curtis freaked out as she hugged herself. Edo Padilla laughed joyfully. "Now, you and Brother Joseph are even. You tore his clothes. I also tore your clothes. Perfect." Edo Padilla clapped so happily. "Oh right, I found that torn clothes suitable for you. Do you know what? It's because it's a dress for beggars. Ha ha ha!" Alyssa Curtis pursed her lips, gritting her teeth inside her lips. The woman was already on the verge of eruption. If not because she always put in mind about her manager's words, she probably gave the woman an earth-shattering slap on his idiotic face. Alyssa Curtis's face flushed red in rage. Her flesh trembling from suppressing that rage to burst out like the volcano. "You're gone too far!" The woman's chest heaved up and down abnormally. Her gaze became oddly sharp as she demanded, "Apologize to me." Edo Padilla stopped laughing. He slightly tilted his head and brought his hand over his ear. "What? What did you just say? Apologize? To you? Are you dreaming?" "I will count to three. Apologize to me or else—" "Oh, you look so scary!" Edo Padilla feigned he was scared. He hugged himself and wiggled. As if disgusted. Looking provocative, he asked innocently, "What do you think you can do to me? Huh? Just you? Do you think I am afraid of you? You think too highly of yourself." "Three!" Alyssa Curtis started counting. Her gaze and tone were cold and serious yet making the assistant feel anxious. "How dare you scare me? I will expose you to the citizens!" "Two!" Alyssa Curtis's gaze darkened. Her eyes narrowed as she remained to wear her serious and cold face. But the air around them suddenly felt compressing and intimidating. Edo Padilla couldn't help but shiver. "I dare you to hurt me! I will report you for bullying me!" Edo Padilla stuttered. He took his phone out of his pocket and started filming, focusing only on Alyssa Curtis's expression. Even Joseph Raval sensed the strange behavior of Alyssa Curtis and he couldn't help but gulp with the suffocating tension. Alyssa Curtis ignored the fact that she was filmed by the assistant of her male lead. When Alyssa Curtis was about to shout 'one', a scream along with a loud sound of shutting door and objects falling on the floor suddenly thundered all over the place, sounds all coming from the door. Those objects were a cup of coffee and a bottle of water. "Auhhh ... what on earth are you guys doing?" The duo looked over to the owner of the scream simultaneously. Edo Padilla's face lit up. As if he had found a savior. "You damn woman, where did you go? But good thing you came. Look at your sister. She is insane. She want to hurt me. You have to stop her!" "You are the one who is crazy!" Xindy Apostol sprinted over. She grabbed the green coat hanging on the side and wrapped it on Alyssa Curtis's body. "I just left to buy drinks for my sister but you already did this to her? How could you tear a woman's clothes? Are you guys still a man? You completely humiliating her! Although I don't know exactly what happened, I can tell you bullied her! You have gone too far. I will report you to Brother Xander!" "Are you done? Report me?" Edo Padilla smirked. "Are you kidding me? Okay go ahead and I will also bring you into trouble. If you dare to report me, I will also report your sister. She ruined Brother Joseph's clothes first. Brother Joseph has money. He can afford to pay. But the question here right now is, does she have money? Can she pay too?" "My sister is– she doesn't have money. But I know, Sister Alyssa would never do such a thing! You're slandering her!" Edo Padilla smirked. "Am I? Who can prove that I am just slandering her? None, right? But look at my Brother Joseph's clothes. Don't tell me he did that to himself or I did that myself to slander her?" "Who knows?" Xindy Apostol's lips curved downward. "You are free to sew a rumor because no one can prove that my sister is innocent. As if we don't know what kind of people you are exactly!" "Auh, okay, speak. You go speak." Edo Padilla waved the phone in his hand. "If I upload this on the Internet. What do you think will happen? I filmed the entire thing. Let the people be the judge." Xindy Apostol's paled. She tightened her hold at Alyssa Curtis's coat when she realised that the other person was filming them. "You are so despicable. Sister Alyssa is already like this yet you film her. You just wait when Brother Xander comes." Edo Padilla raised a brow. "She bullied us. Do you think we're afraid of your Brother Xander. Even if he is the God, he can do nothing since the sinner here is her. Besides, who do you think is your Brother Xander? He is just like the two of you. Probably a beggar." Edo Padilla even emphasized the enunciation of the word 'beggar', intently provoking them. "Shut up!" Alyssa Curtis yelled. "You can insult me but you are not allowed to insult Brother Xander!" "Oh?" Eyes widened, he covered his lips with his hand. "She is so fierce. Miss Curtis, I am just telling the truth. You don't have to be angry." "Your mouth is stinking!" Xindy Apostol blurted out. "Really?" Edo Padilla nodded. "Perhaps it really stinks. But it's much better than to her and to her manager. Be careful. One day, their body as well as their souls will stink so badly in the air." "You really don't shut your stinky mouth, huh?" Alyssa Curtis attempted to pound on the man but Xindy Apostol hugged her tightly, looking so worried and was eventually tearing up. "Little Xin, let go of me!" "Sister Alyssa, ignore them. They are not worth your time." She whispered, trying to comfort her under her sobbing. "Just hold your anger until Brother Xander comes. Let him settle this. Remember his words. Fighting won't do any good to you, especially to your career. Please hang on." Xindy Apostol glared at the man. "And you? What nonsense are you talking about? Watch your mouth!" Alyssa Curtis glanced at her little assistant, face reddened even more. "Little Xin, I know you're worried about me. But they are already too much. Do you know how awful it was to suppress your emotions, especially anger? It is so stuffy in my heart. It's suffocating me. Little Xin, let go of me. I want to tear that man's mouth apart." "No!" Xindy Apostol shook her head, refusing to set her free. "Sister Alyssa, I'm sorry. But I can't. I promise to Brother Xander to look after you. If something happens to you, how am I going to answer Brother Xander? Sister Alyssa, let's just endure them for a little longer. I already talked to Brother Xander. In a while, he will be here." "That's great. That's great if he comes. I will tell him how great his artist is." Edo Padilla said. "Just like how great he is." Joseph Raval crossed his arms over his chest. He then put his foot on the chair out of boredom. He was initially silent on the side but an evil thought crossed his mind. He suddenly spoke, attracting everyone's attention in the room. "Enough fighting. Actually, you guys don't have to fight. I can pay for both clothes. However…" "However, what?" Xindy Apostol replied on behalf of Alyssa Curtis. Joseph Raval smiled mysteriously. "She has to lick my shoes and then everything is settled. How is that? Deal?" "What did you say?" Xindy Apostol's jaw dropped in disbelief. "Unbelievable! How could you- how could you- my God!"
