Chapter 39: Cut!

1219 Words
On top of the tall mountain, two people were standing side by side, watching the lake at the foot of the said mountain under the splendid view of the sunset. Of the two, one was a slender and beautiful woman who owned a goddess-like beauty. She was pretty and amazing beyond words. The robe she wore with a combination of black and white color made her look so wild and untamed but enlightened how cool and charismatic she was as a woman. The other person was a man wearing plainly black. He was tall and so good-looking. Many said that his look was ethereal. He was every woman's dream. The man calmly stood with his hand on his back. But the woman was obviously looking nervous or uneasy. She occasionally clutched the clothes on her sides and somewhat had something to say but was hesitant. The woman mustered her courage to confess. At the moment she found the right time to convey her love for the man, a strong wind suddenly blew her ponytail and some stuck on her mouth. The woman almost choked. She spit her and spit her hair until it was gone. Coincidentally, the wind stopped blowing. The man cast her a sideways glance, voice cold and deep. Face was also extraordinarily stoneface. "What did you just say?" "I—" The woman's face flushed red. She clenched her fists on her sides and stuttered. "I said- I said, I- I." "Cut!" The director shouted. Clapping his hand irritably, he shouted, face flushed, "Miss Curtis, what's wrong with you today? How many times do we have to shoot this time? Your emotion is already perfect. But how could you forget your lines again and again?" "I'm sorry, Direct." Alyssa Curtis bowed to the director then to the male lead of her new drama. The male lead, Joseph Raval, rolled his eyes at her. He arrogantly turned his back at her as he blurted out "Troublesome." The director shook his head, looking tired to talk any longer with her. "Okay. Go back to your dressing room and memorize your lines. You have fifteen minutes." The director said and then left. Alyssa Curtis sighed deeply when everybody left the scene with a heavy heart and disdain glimpse towards her. Looking dejected, she also made her way into her dressing room. However, before she could enter the dressing room, she heard the male lead and his assistant talking behind his back. "How ridiculous. We'rent she just received a Golden Orchid Award as the Best Actress this year? How could her performance be so poor? She can't even memorise her lines." The assistant said continuously. "Brother Joseph, you're a very famous artist. Why don't we request a change of female lead? It's a waste of time working with her. She is just a woman with a pretty face but brainless and incapable. She should change her profession from being an artist into something else." A sarcastic laugh came out from Joseph Raval's mouth. "This incident is not surprising to me. I heard she did something to get that award. Who knows?" Alyssa Curtis knocked on the door and then looked at the man then to his assistant. She was neither cold nor affected. "If I were you, I would keep my mouth closed or the virus would spread. That's contagious. A danger for the entire citizen." "What are you trying to say? Who do you think you are? Just because you got the Best Actress in the recent Golden Orchid Award, you're acting arrogant here?" The assistant spoke, glaring at her. "You don't even deserve to stay in the same room with Brother Jospeh. I really don't understand why they chose the untalented you to be my Brother Joseph's female lead. You are just tainting my Brother Joseph! Get lost!" Alyssa Curtis raised a brow elegantly. "Then who are you to chase me away in my own dressing room? Whatever. Whatever you say, I don't really care because I did nothing to offend you." Alyssa Curtis took a deep breath. "Don't feign innocence! You're not as great as everyone thinks you are." Alyssa Curtis shook her head, looking lazy to argue any further. "If you are doing this because of my mistakes during filming, then you're so petty. I already apologized plenty of times." "Do you think that's enough?" Alyssa Curtis pondered about the matter. After weighing the cause and effect of the problem silently, Alyssa Curtis decided to just ignore them. She sauntered towards her seat that was ahead of them without any further care of whatever they wanted to say or whatever they were saying at the moment. However, before she could pass through them, her foot stumbled on something. The truth was that something suddenly blocked her foot. Someone's foot was stretched out sneakily to purposely trip her. Due to the sudden occurrence and in order not to stumble so badly and hurt herself, her hand grabbed on the backrest of the chair where the male lead sat. Unexpectedly, she accidentally caught the collar of his robe instead of the backrest and the robe was torn across his chest. Joseph Raval abruptly stood up and yelled, eyes glaring in anger. "What the hell have you done to my clothes?" "You ruined Brother Joseph's clothes?" The assistant, Edo Padilla, exclaimed. Eyes widened in shock. "You ruined the clothes worth a year of your salary? How are you going to pay for this?" Alyssa Curtis picked herself up. Though feeling hurt on her knees that knocked on the floor, she endured it and remained elegant and composed. "I'm sorry. I didn't do that on purpose." "Not on purpose? How dare you say it's not on purpose? You are such a wrecker. You don't deserve to be in this industry. You are the stain of the entertainment industry." Alyssa Curtis brows furrowed. "I already told you. It's not on purpose." "Not on purpose? You kept saying not on purpose? Miss Curtis, why do I feel you're just trying to avoid the responsibility?" "You're thinking too much." "Auh, I almost forgot. I remembered that before you became famous, you were just a beggar. So how are you going to pay for the clothes?" He nodded. "Hmm, well, you can sell your body. Aren't you good in that aspect?" Alyssa Curtis shook her head, unaffected. "You're hopeless. You guys better not waste your saliva on me. I don't care about everything you said…" She stared at them coldly. "I'm in no mood. I'm too lazy to talk to people like you." "What about us? Are you looking down on me?" Edo Padilla laughed sarcastically. "A beggar and motherfucker like you dare to look down on me? How absurd!" Rolling her eyes, Alyssa Curtis turned her back to them and sat in her spot. "Hey beggar, how dare you turn your back on us? We are not done settling the matter yet!" Edo Padilla shouted. "Auh, I got it. You can't afford to pay for the clothes so you're ignoring us, right?" The assistant looked at Joseph Raval. "Brother Joseph, this woman refused to compensate for the clothes. I will teach her the lesson." Joseph Raval smirked. "Up to you. I'll pay for the clothes for her when I'm satisfied." "Noted, Brother Joseph."
