Chapter 103

"You bastards, how dare you hit me! I won't let this go! Wait, I remember you. You're always with him, aren't you? Azureblade, right? You're dead meat. You're going to spend the rest of your life rotting in prison!" Jensen's anger flared from the slap, unaware that Azureblade had only used a fraction of his strength. A full-force slap would have killed him. Talon remained calm, his face unchanged. "Azureblade, you're being too gentle." "Yes, General!" Azureblade's lips curled into a cruel smile as he grabbed Jensen's head and slammed it down onto the table. This time, Azureblade used more strength, and Jensen's skull met the hard surface with a loud thud, causing everyone in the Willis family to wince in pain. Jensen coughed and sputtered, dazed from the impact. When he lifted his head, his nose was crooked, and several teeth, mixed with blood, were falling from his mouth. Talon waited for a while before speaking, his voice calm. "Can't handle a little pain? Jensen, you know exactly what you've done. I'm here to get justice for Ariya. You know Corey, right? After Max took him, I tortured him for a month before killing him. His greatest wish was to die quickly, so he wouldn't have to suffer anymore." Regaining some strength, Jensen glared at Talon with bloodshot eyes. "Don't try to scare me. What justice are you trying to get for Ariya? Everyone in Philadelphia knows she's a w***e. You came because you're scared. Let me tell you, as long as I'm alive, I'll keep making her life miserable." Instead of getting angry, Talon laughed. "You won't be able to." Jensen suddenly felt a chill down his spine. He vaguely recalled seeing a news story that morning, but when he refreshed the page, it had disappeared. At the time, he hadn't thought much of it, too busy creating his own stories. Now that Talon was here, he realized it wasn't so simple. Trying to steady his nerves, Jensen threatened, "I don't believe you'll really kill me. Let me go right now, and maybe I'll be in a good enough mood to speak to Pete on your behalf. If not, you can kiss your reputation goodbye. Everyone will know you're just a cuckold!" Talon sighed. "You need to understand. It's not that I can't kill you, but that I won't. I wanted to kill the entire Willis family, but Ariya is kind-hearted, so she let you live. But just because I'm not going to kill you doesn't mean I can't make you suffer. Azureblade, go ahead." Azureblade smiled slightly as someone brought over a bucket of salt water and a whip. Dipping the whip into the salt water, he began lashing at Jensen with precise, calculated strokes. Two sharp cracks echoed as Jensen screamed in agony. The whip marks were exceptionally clear, and the blows were expertly delivered to hit Jensen's most sensitive nerves without endangering his life. The cuts from the whip left fine lines on his skin, and the salt water stung like fire. "You bastard! You're a monster!" Jensen gritted his teeth, his body shivering from the pain. Azureblade didn't respond, continuing to whip him with saltwater-soaked lashes. Left, right, the blows rained down. Jensen went from cursing to sobbing, to collapsing on the ground like a lifeless heap. The Dragon Nest army's Cross Whip was a mandatory punishment for military offenders, and even the toughest criminals would break under its power. Azureblade had experienced it himself, and he knew that it was only a matter of time before anyone under the whip cracked. Mateo watched his grandson being beaten, filled with both fear and regret. 'Oh God, if I had known Talon was this ruthless, I never would've allowed those messages to be sent out.' With each lash of the whip, Lord Willis felt as if it was striking him directly. Alvin and Norah were also frozen in shock, watching as Jensen was whipped mercilessly by Azureblade. They could barely contain their horror, their lips twitching involuntarily. Especially Alvin—he had once called Talon a worthless failure and urged Ariya to divorce him. Seeing Talon now, he realized how fortunate he was that Talon hadn't ordered the same punishment for him. As for the rest of the Willis family, they were already pale with terror. One by one, they fell to their knees, trembling. In their eyes, the whip in Azureblade's hands wasn't just a weapon; it was the scythe of Death himself, ready to claim their lives. Azureblade mechanically continued to lash Jensen while Talon watched with keen interest. He had his own plan. Jensen might have been the one spreading false news about Ariya, but it was likely done with the approval of the Willis family elders. Talon wanted to ensure the entire family understood what would happen if they crossed Ariya. As he observed the Willis family kneeling in submission, Talon showed no sign of stopping the punishment. The brutal beating continued for two or three hours. After dousing Jensen with three buckets of water, he finally regained consciousness, his eyes unfocused. Begging weakly, he muttered, "Please... just kill me... I don't want to live anymore..." It was only at this point that Jensen truly understood why Corey had begged for death, why he had wanted to die so desperately. Living had become nothing but endless suffering. Death would have been a mercy compared to what he was enduring. Talon was eating at this moment. He wiped his mouth and smiled. "I won't kill you. I'll find the best doctors to treat you. Then I'll have you beaten again, and heal you again, and cripple you again… until the day you finally realize your mistakes. Only then will I consider letting you go."
