Chapter Twenty-OneForrest had rushed to the top of the stairs by the time he heard the second scream.
Racing to the armoury door, he saw the Strigoi pinning Madeline to the wall. “Bastard.” He slammed into the Strigoi, tearing him away from Madeline’s throat.
Smashing the Strigoi into the metal shelves, Forrest attempted to hit the Strigoi with his fist, but his clenched hand was gripped by the Strigoi’s fingers.
Reaching the door, Jen saw the wounds on Madeline’s throat and rushed to one of the shelves. Grabbing a pair of wooden stakes, she tossed one of Catherine standing in the doorway and ran towards the Strigoi holding Forrest.
The Strigoi released Forrest and pushed him away as Jen plunged the stake into his flesh.
Pushing the Strigoi to the floor, she glanced back at Forrest
