What was happening?
Why is he there?
Why is he wearing a hood?
Why did he stand over mother’s bed?
“Why did he glare at her so viciously?
Why did he pull a g*n from his pocket?
“What is he gonna do with it?
Why is there a silencer on it?
Why did he clock the g*n and why did he pull the trigger?
Camden’s world was completely still. Nothing moved. Not even the footsteps of the man that had just pulled the trigger made a sound as he turned in a bid to walk out. Colors faded as he felt his chest tighten.
A cold, shivering wind blew on the back of his neck and ears like the touch of cold fingers. Suddenly, his whole world seemed unnaturally dark like all the lights went out when Mia breathed her finally breath.
Camden felt anger rise in him. He wanted to barge in and strangle the bastard that just murdered his mother
“Stop,” Arnold whispered grabbing Camden’s hands roughly. “As painful as this has been to watch we have to leave here”
“No no” Camden struggled to release himself from the strong grip of Arnold. “I have to go save her”
“Snap out of it Camden. She’s gone now and there’s nothing you can do about it. If that man I.D you then you’re gonna follow your mother to the grave”
“I don’t give a f**k. I have to go save her. She needs me”
“I’m so sorry Mr. Camden” Arnold picked him up and placed struggling Camden on his shoulders.
*Present Day*
The screech of the car Arnold drove could be heard from a distance as he parked outside the massive building of ANGELS’ headquarters; the largest firm in Los Angeles
As he highlighted from his Lamborghini the valet bowed his head slightly and proceeded to collect the keys from him. Arnold wore his Gucci customized spy glasses and made his way to the hallway leading to the elevator.
Arnold gallantly walked across the halls as people bowed their heads slightly to greet him. A group of men in suit all halted acknowledging his presence. Arnold waved briefly at them and walked into the elevator meant for him and some top executives
“Good morning Mr. Camden” Arnold said as he spoke into headset microphone connected to the Bluetooth in his ear.
“Morning Arnold” Camden replied. He was seated at home watching the movements from Arnold’s spy cam glasses. “What’s on our schedule?”
“Well in the next five minutes we should be seated at a meeting with the Chinese investors. It’s our final meeting and this time around we need to sign the deal. Next will be our monthly departmental head meetings. That’ll be by 11;30am.”
“Please send over the documental records. I’ll like to revise the records before the meeting. You should have sent this earlier”
“I did. I sent it to your personal mail.”
“Oh, you did? I hardly check through the messages there” Camden said as he logged into his e-mail. “Wow… I have thousands of mails to open” Camden chuckled as he scrolled through the numerous messages on his screen
“Well you could do that later on sir. I’m headed to the conference room” Arnold walked out of the elevator and adjusted his glasses.
“Yeah yeah. I know. I can see through the spy glasses you know. What’s this?”
“What is it sir?” Arnold stopped in his tracks
“Looks like I’m having a high school reunion in five days” Camden said looking reading through the contents of the mail
“Are you going sir? You could finally see Emily. I’m sure she’d be overjoyed to see you” Arnold expressed
“Not sure Arnold. I have better work to do than sulk at a high school reunion” Camden finally said closing the page
“Well, think about it sir. We’re here”
Camden stared into space. He did miss Emily and her little smile. What would it be like to finally see her after 10 years? She must have moved in from their little high school love life. He sighed deeply and shrugged,
“Ready for your meeting?” Arnold spoke, placing one hand on his ear to insert the Bluetooth properly.
“Yeah sure”
Arnold walked in to see a group of Chinese investors gathered and taking the most of the sixteen seats with only a minimum of four seats left, clearing his throat, he proceeded to the seat at the high hind of the table.
“Tell them how delighted we are to work with them and how we look forward to building a more cordial relationship with their company.” Camden said to Arnold.
“We are so delighted that you can find some time out of your busy schedule to come out today. We look forward to building a great bond and relationship with your company.” He repeated what Camden had told him.
“We just have to; we know how much of a big shot Angel is and getting to work with your company is one many dreams of.” A man that wasn’t particularly fluent in his English said and the board smiled.
“Okay, proceed with the introduction and let them know what our next big project is. Inform them it will fetch in even more profit than they’ve ever imagined. ” Camden said into the Bluetooth and Arnold nodded again.
“Thank you...” Arnold starts, “Now, let’s begin. I’m introducing to you the new age....” he said but was interrupted by one of the Chinese investors
“*********************,***********” the man said in Chinese, rolling his eyes a little,
“He said, how can we work with a company whose CEO we’ve never seen, let alone meet?” Someone who Arnold assumed to be the translator explained and he only let out a smile, wanting the man to finish.
“*******, *****?” The Chinese man added with a sigh before resting back on his seat.
“It’s all just seem a bit shady, don’t you think?” The man added and Arnold stealing a glance at Camden, laughed a little.
“************。” Arnold replied in Chinese, taking the investors by surprise and he and Camden seeing the shocked look on their faces made them snicker a little bit.
“******,**************” He added, telling them not to be worried about who the CEO is or isn’t but had assured them to rather be thinking about how much money they would make from the investment.
The investors let out a small satisfied smile that reassured them that they were going to seal this deal.
The meeting continued with Arnold explaining the benefits of the investments, their marketing scheme and the estimated amount of profit they were going to make from the investment.
The investors, engrossed by this pitch eventually gave in and signed the documents laying in front of them. They finished the meeting with a friendly handshake and a smile.
“They had no idea you speak mandarin.” Camden mocked and Arnold joined in laughter.
“Well, that’s the benefits of learning 7 languages. I keep telling you to learn about five sir”
“Oh please. The three I know is good enough for me”
“So have you made a decision about the reunion?. Should I prepare a suit?”
Camden stared hard at the contents of the mail.
What would it be like to see Emily again?.
