10. Meet The Mate

1024 Words
Virgie could hardly believe that her mother still disliked her after two years had passed. Her feelings hurt again, but this time Virgie didn't want to be weak like before. Virgie then took something out of her purse. "You don't have to change the money, Mom. I don't need to," Virgie replied. She then gave Rebecca a few bills. "If you need more than this, I'll give you more." "I apologize for running away from the Pack. I felt very disappointed at that time. But now I want to start a new life. I have a job in Glick, so I'll be here for a while," Virgie said. "A job?" Rebecca was surprised by Virgie's words. "Here? Are you crazy?" "Why, Mom? Why are you like that?" Virgie felt strange about her mother forbidding her to be at Glick. "You can't be in this town. You've found your life in the capital. Don't stay here!" Rebecca insisted. "Mom, I can't. My boss and I are meeting to sign a contract," Virgie said. Rebecca slapped Virgie. And that really surprised Virgie. "Mom!" Virgie shrieked. "What's wrong with you?" "You really don't know yourself. Didn't my words make you realize? I don't want you anywhere near me! Go! Get as far away from Glick as possible!" Rebecca seemed to be very angry with Virgie. Virgie didn't want to make her mother even angrier. She quickly left Rebecca's house. Again, Virgie was disappointed that her mother had done such a bad thing to her. Until this moment, Virgie did not understand why Rebecca hated her so much. Even though she was her own child. How could a mother hate her child? Virgie drove her car at full speed. She would have cried two years ago because she had been treated unfairly. It was different this time. She didn't want to be a crybaby anymore. Virgie took out her cell phone and immediately called Martin. "Baby, I want to buy a mansion in Glick," Virgie said. "I want to live here." **** Edward had just driven Selena home from college. He got out of his car to ensure she got into the house. A red car accidentally drove by, and Edward felt a strong scent. Edward remembered that this scent was the same from two years ago at the dueling ceremonies. Edward looked at the car. He felt that he should follow that woman. "Selena, like I should go!" Edward said. "Don't you want to have dinner with my parents?" asked Selena. "No, I have important business. I have a project I'm doing. You come right in." Edward kissed Selena's forehead and then quickly got into the car. Edward immediately started his car and followed the red car without needing to linger. The red car was indeed driven by Virgie. She was angry, so she drove at high speed. Edward was overwhelmed by Virgie's car until he reached the front of a hotel. It was his father's hotel. Virgie got out of her car. Edward watched from inside the car. He recognized that woman as an artist who wanted to collaborate with his company's products. "Virginia?" Edward muttered. "She's the masked woman? How is that possible?" A man approached Virgie, and Virgie immediately hugged him. Edward saw Virgie crying while hugging the man, who turned out to be Martin. Seeing Virgie hugging a man, Edward felt something tightly in his chest. Even though he decided not to accept that the masked woman was his mate. But why did Edward seem unwilling when he saw Virgie with another man. And what was even more surprising was that the man was human. **** Virgie got out of the car together with Martin. They were now at Edward's company building. ER Company. Edward's company that he had built himself since he was young, and business was very good. His employees were mostly humans, and no one knew that he was a wolf. Wolves are very good at hiding their identity from humans. But they can easily recognize their own kind. "Please, Mr. Edward Reynolds is waiting," a woman who was an employee of this company said. Virgie's arrival was eagerly awaited. Who doesn't know Virgie by now? Her face fills the screen almost every day. And the movies played by her are almost always popular among the public. They were led to the fifth floor. Precisely in a special room to meet with clients. Martin admired this very modern place even though it was far from the capital. "Please," the employee said. "Thank you, Miss," Martin said. Virgie already felt Edward's strong scent. It was the same scent from two years ago. Her body suddenly felt weak. It felt like she didn't want to meet Edward, but didn't she want to show him what she was all about? "Mr. Martin Silverstone." Edward's voice sounded very clear. Virgie's heart skipped a beat when she heard Edward's voice. She tried to brace herself. Virgie changed her expression to look friendly. "Mr. Edward Reynolds." Martin immediately extended his hand toward Edward. They were like most businessmen who had to be their image. Especially when they were about to start working together. "Thank you for coming to the ER Company," Edward said. "Oh, my pleasure, Mr. Reynolds. ...." "Edward, please. I'm only twenty-nine years old," Edward said. "Ok, Edward. So you can call me Martin. We're the same age," Martin replied. Martin then turned around because Virgie had been standing behind him. "Virgie," Martin called. Virgie immediately turned around and came forward. "Yeah." Edward looked at Virgie standing in front of him. Without denying it, Edward knew that this woman was a wolf and she was his mate that he had seen at the duel ceremony. Virgie smiled at Edward. She held out her hand and acted confidently in front of her mate, who had rejected her. "Hello, Mr. Edward Reynolds. Introduce me, Virginia Rumanos. Thank you for entrusting me as the brand ambassador of your wonderful product," Virgie said. Edward and Virgie looked at each other. After this meeting, there was no telling what fate would have in store for the two of them.
