The Encounter
The moon was full, illuminating the forest with an eerie light. The air was thick with the scent of pine and earth, and the sound of crickets filled the night. In the midst of it all, a lone werewolf prowled through the trees. "I hate taking watch," Aidan muttered to himself as he walked along the border line of his pack. "Wait for me!" the Beta, Sean mind linked him. His senses were now on high alert knowing the Beta was suppose to be at the packhouse heading communication during his shift. "What is so important that you needed to come out and not wait 2 hours for me to get back?" Aidan growls, realizing Sean is just strolling into the clearing with no care in the world. "Aidan, seriously, you going to get all pissy with me just wanting to visit you?!" He says as he jumps over a stump in his way. A crack is heard about 3 meters out, and Aidan's attention diverts to that.
"You stay back, and cover this area, I am going to check out what that was." running off in the direction of the noise hearing Sean mutter in the back of his head.
As he roamed through the forest, Aidan sensed something. It was another werewolf, and she was nearby. He followed his instincts, tracking her through the trees. As he approached, he saw her. She was beautiful, with long, dark hair and piercing blue eyes. Her name was Maya, and she was the lead fighter of our bordering pack Whitefall.
Maya had heard of Aidan. She knew he was the most powerful alpha in the region, and she knew that he was super cocky along with his talent.
As he approached, she stepped forward to meet him.
"Hello, Aidan," she said, her voice soft and inviting.
"Maya," he replied, his voice low and dangerous. "What are you doing here?"
"I was hunting," she said. "What about you?"
"I was looking for my mate," he said, his eyes locked on hers.
Maya felt a shiver run down her spine. She knew what he was asking, but she didn't know how to answer. She wasn't sure she was ready to be anyone's mate, let alone the mate of the most powerful alpha in the region.
"I'm not sure I'm ready for that," she said. Knowing full well that this Alpha took pride in the amount of she wolves that he had in his master suite.
Aidan's expression hardened. He didn't like being told no, especially when it came to finding his next hookup.
"You don't get to decide that," he said. "The wolf inside you knows who your mate is, and it won't let you rest until you find them."
Maya's eyes narrowed. She didn't like being told what to do, especially by someone she barely knew.
"I'll decide when I'm ready," she said.
Aidan growled, his eyes flashing with anger. He took a step forward, his muscles tensed and ready to fight.
"I am the alpha," he said. "You will do as I say."
Maya didn't back down. She met his gaze, her own eyes blazing with determination.
"I'm sorry Aidan, I didn't realize that you had somehow taken over our pack," she said with a smirk on her face. "I will not be ordered around by anyone... especially not you."
For a moment, they stood there, staring each other down. Maya could feel the tension in the air, the energy building between them. She knew this could end in a fight, but she didn't care. She was tired of being pushed around, and she wasn't going to let anyone, not even the most powerful alpha in the region, tell her what to do.
Suddenly, Aidan lunged at her. Maya was ready. She dodged his attack and spun around, launching her own attack. They fought fiercely, their bodies moving with lightning speed. Maya was surprised at how evenly matched they were. She had expected Aidan to be stronger, but she held her own against him.
As they fought, Maya began to realize something. She was attracted to Aidan, but there was no way in Hell she was going to let him get the satisfaction of that. Her pride was way stronger then her attraction. It was like their fight was a dance, and she was dancing with the most skilled partner she had ever had.
