CHAPTER FIVE
Alone Again
Ariana fell to the floor and held on to her chest as hot tears gushed down her eyes, it was like her heart was ripping out, she had never imagined something like that happening to her, she never thought she would left all alone right after of her marriage.
She felt humiliated and hurt at the same time, how would she tell her parents that her husband divorced her just a day after her marriage?, how could she tell anyone that her husband divorced her without reason?, it was like her world was crumbling down and she couldn't do anything about it.
She thought about all these and her lips shook uncontrollably, the rain beat her but that wasn't really her concern, she was more concerned about what else there is to life.
Raymond was her life, but he was gone, Raymond was her happiness, but he left her all alone, Raymond was the only one who gave her a ray of hope, but he was gone and life seemed worthless to her, she had no reason to live.
She beat her chest and cried out, "What have I done wrong?," she beat her chest again, her whole life was crumbling down, she gave her all into the relationship but everything got crushed by the man she love, Raymond left her all alone, he left her all by herself without looking back.
A car pulled over by her side again, Ariana looked up and it was still Raymond, she stood up immediately and rushed to the car, maybe he had a change of mind, maybe he will take back all he said, maybe Raymond was going to take her back to her home, "Raymond," she murmured.
Raymond got down from the car and gave her a horrible look, he smirked and held her hand, "I would have left you to get drenched but I'm not a bad person," he said and put the umbrella in her hand.
Ariana looked up at him, she was already drenched, and there was absolutely no reason for the umbrella, she would love to get drenched and go back home with him, "Raymond, why..why are you..why are you doing this to me?," she stuttered.
Raymond stared at her and shook his head, he looked at her for minutes but he didn't say a word, he then chuckled "Have a nice life woman," Raymond responded and turned back to his car.
She rushed to him and held his hand, "Raymond," Ariana called and he turned to her, "Don't..don't leave me all alone," she murmured and broke into tears again, "Don't leave me all alone Raymond, what...what have I done wrong?," she asked, tears tickled down her cheeks.
Raymond pulled her hand off him, "I don't know you, and when you see me, just pretend like you don't know me," he replied her and got into the car, he dipped out his head through the car window, "Have a nice life," he added and zoomed off.
"Raymond, Raymond," Ariana called and ran after his car, she stopped when she saw that she couldn't catch up with him again, she dragged her feet back to where her bags were and picked them up.
She couldn't cry again, she could only let out a whimper every minutes, she once imagined a little and happy family with Raymond, she imagined having him by her side everyday of her life, she was more happy and excited when she learnt that she was pregnant, she never knew that her world will crash down.
Ariana held on to her stomach, she never imagined her child not having a father, she was excited to see the smile on Raymond's face when she tells him about her pregnancy, but he didn't even give her the chance to talk.
She pulled her bag and began to walk, she had no destination in mind, she couldn't even think of anything, her head was blank, she just wanted to wake up from the terrible nightmare, she wanted to go back to the way everything was before they got married.
She felt empty, maybe the marriage was the problem, maybe she should give Raymond some time, maybe everything will be good again. She was so confused.
She sighted a cab coming and she flagged it down, she dropped her bags in the booth with the help of the driver and got into the cab.
"Where are you heading to ma'am?," the driver asked and all she could do was stare.
She had no place in mind, she thought for a while and the only place she could go to was her parent's house, she told the driver where she was heading to and he zoomed off.
During the drive, she kept thinking of how to tell her parents about what happened, she couldn't figure out a way to tell them that Raymond divorced her just after a day of their marriage, she thought for minutes but she couldn't come up with anything.
The driver pulled over at the front of her parent's house, she picked up her bags and paid the driver, and then hee zoomed off.
Ariana stood in front of the house, everything that was happening felt like a dream to her, she was back to her parents home as a divorcee, after leaving the day before as a single lady and ready for marriage.
She shook her head, maybe everything was a bad thought, maybe she had been imagining and all that was happening was just her imaginations, she shook her head but nothing happened, it was still the same. Raymond divorced her.
She pulled the bags and dragged her feet to the door, she was about to ring the door bell when the door came open, her mom's mouth fell open when she saw her standing at the door, "Who am I seeing?," she wondered, "Ariana?," her mom asked as she was confused.
Ariana fell into her arms and wrapped her hands around her, she cried silently, making sure that her mom wouldn't notice.
She had to hid her pain from her because it was hard for her to tell her mom that she just got divorced, she just got separated from her husband without a tangible reason, she couldn't say anything.
Her mom pulled back and looked into her eyes, Ariana bent her head immediately and wiped the tears in her eyes, she had to try all her best to hide the truth from her parents, maybe she would be able to sort everything out, maybe she would be able to convince Raymond.
"Ariana," her mom called and she looked up at her, "Why are you here?," she asked, "I mean you went on your honeymoon with your husband yesterday, why are you here?," she inquired.
Ariana faked a smile and walked in without saying anything. That got her mom more worried, she ran after her and pulled her back, "Answer me girl," she frowned, "What are you doing here, and with these big bags?," she asked pointing to the bags.
She faked a smile again, she stared at her mom as she tried to buy time so she could think of an excuse, she bent her head, "Uhmm...mom, Raymond and I... Raymond had to rush home for some business," she lied.
Her mom wasn't really convinced with what she said, she dropped the bag in her hand and removed the gloves in her hands, it seemed like she was just out of the kitchen, she then moved closer to Ariana and held her hand, "Look at me Ariana," she said to her and she looked up, "Is something wrong?," she inquired, she wasn't feeling good with her coming home without a notice.
Ariana smiled again, this time she made sure that her smile would convince her mom, "I'm okay mom, you don't have to worry," she responded and walked to the bag her mom dropped, "You want to throw this out right?," she asked but she didn't wait for an answer before she said, "I will do just that," she walked out of the house.
She strode to the trash can outside and dropped the bag, she waited outside for minutes so her mom would go back to the kitchen before she goes in, and when her mom did, she rushed in and pulled her bag up to her room.
Ariana got into the room and locked the door, she walked to her bed and fell on it.
She shut her eyes as different thoughts ran through her head, how long will she keep doing that?, how long will she hide the truth from her parents?.
They will find out very soon that she was divorced, she wouldn't be able to hide it for so long that her love story had come to an end.
Tears rolled down her cheeks but she still didn't open her eyes, she was tired physically and emotionally, she wanted to sleep, maybe everything that was happening to her was just a bad nightmare, maybe everything would go back to normal when she wakes up.
***
The warm morning sun shone on Ariana's face, she opened her eyes and turned away from the ray of the sun.
Her head was heavy and aching, she rubbed her eyes and looked beside her on the bed but Raymond wasn't there, she thought she was having a nightmare, she thought everything would have gone back to normal after waking up, but she was wrong. All that happened to her was real.
She stood up from the bed and walked to the dressing mirror in her room, she sighed as the sight of the dried tears on her cheeks.
Ariana moved closer and looked closely, she could see a dark circle around her eyes, she knew that was as a result of her crying all through the night.
She sighed again and walked into her closet, Ariana was still finding it difficult to believe that Raymond was gone, she found it hard to believe that she was separated from Raymond, she couldn't bring herself to believe that she got divorced right after her marriage.
She picked her robe and stepped into the bathroom to take her bath. Minutes later, she walked out of the bathroom and back into the closet.
She applied her lotion and slid into a pair of black shorts, she wore a white shirt and walked down the stairs.
Ariana met her parents in the main room, they were elegantly dressed, she couldn't tell why they were dressed like that so early in the morning.
"Hey Dad," she said and moved closer to them.
Her mom's mouth fell open, "Ariana, we've been here waiting for you and you're dressed in just that?," she asked, pointing to her dress.
Ariana looked down at what she wore and back to them, "What are you talking about mom?," she asked, "I mean there's nothing wrong with my clothe," Ariana shrugged.
"Raymond's parents called us for a breakfast meeting last night, we thought you were informed," she replied.
"Breakfast meeting?," Ariana asked, "Uhmm...we.."
"Raymond didn't tell you?," her dad cut in.
Ariana hung her head, "I will just go dress up," she said and rushed back into her room, she knew staying there for more minutes will make them notice that there was something wrong.
She opened her bag and picked a white dress, she wore the dress and a black heels.
She rushed back to her parents, and they all walked out of the house, they got into the car and drove to Raymond parent's house.
She held out a loud sigh before stepping out of the car, "Are you okay?," he dad asked.
She faked a smile as usual, "I'm okay dad," Ariana replied as they walked into the house, she felt like she would get a chance to talk to Raymond again, she would have another chance to ask him what she did wrong, and maybe find a way to apologize.
"Hey Ariana," Raymond's mom said and pulled her into her arms, "Raymond told me that you got back yesterday, so I decided that we should have a breakfast meeting today," added with a smile.
Ariana couldn't say anything, she looked around to see if she would find Raymond but she couldn't.
She watched as her parents laughed and giggled with Raymond's parents, she still couldn't see him anywhere.
She decided to step out while they await Raymond's arrival, and when she got to the door, Raymond also walked in.
A smile fell on her face, "Raymond," she murmured.
"Who are you?," Raymond furrowed.
