I was busy on my computer when Marina popped her head into my office.
"There is a lady here who wants to talk to you. She doesn't have an appointment."
"What's her name?"
"Isabella."
Hah!
I liked performing in the petty-lympics, so I shrugged.
"I'll see her in two hours."
Marina walked out and I smiled inwardly. So Isabella did want the job after all.
At 12 o'clock, I finally let her in. She walked into the office, all dusty and sunburnt. I remembered Jack no longer had a car and taxis were out question owing to the total loss of allowances. They had to be frugal, and that made me want to smile until my lips split at the edges.
Maybe I really was a witch.
Today, she was calm unlike the Isabella I knew, who was always shouting and brawling.
"Can I have a seat?"
I couldn't hold my smile anymore. A polite Isabella! This was the best day of my life.
I nodded and she sat on the edge of the seat opposite me.
"I know what you did, Julie."
What the hell was she talking about?
"And?"
"Why do you hate Jack so much? Because he loves me and not you?"
I couldn't hold the laughter that bubbled in my throat anymore. I laughed heartily; so hard that tears formed in my eyes.
"It's not funny" she was offended.
Nice.
"No it's not. But you're funny."
"That's off topic. Paul told me everything."
I almost jumped from my chair but I kept an impassive face like I had no idea what the f**k she was talking about. When I said nothing, she continued.
"I know you bought the company. I know you deducted Jack's salary and you're planning on firing him at the end of the month."
A lone tear rolled down her cheek. A crying Isabella? Wonderful!
I cursed Paul over and over again. The fat fúcker! I was going to roast his ass. He had no business telling anyone anything, least of all Isabella.
"So how can I help you, Isabella?" I hated her with every breath I took.
She took a deep breath and I knew she hated coming to me in the first place. She was desperate to say the least.
"I need that secretarial job you offered me a week ago."
I watched her with a racing heart. My inner bitçh was dancing . I had her right were I needed her. "I thought you didn't want the job?"
"I didn't want it but I'll need money to support my son before Jack gets another job."
"Did you tell him what Paul told you?"
"No!" She said vehemently, shaking her head for emphasis.
"Good. If you tell him, then there is no job for you."
We walked out to the reception. I was planning to transfer Marina to be Allan's Secretary at the company. I told her to clear her desk and give Isabella an orientation. I knew Isabella wouldn't last long.
I went back to my office and called Paul. He picked on the first ring.
"Ma'am?"
"Paul, did you tell Jack about my plans for him?"
"No, Miss."
"Why did you tell his wife?"
He stammered for a moment .
"Yes?" I prompted him.
"She milked the information out of me."
What the hell.
"Milked? Like literally?"
"No, ma'am. I mean like, you know.."
Then it dawned on me.
"So you had s*x with her."
"No, I mean yes, I mean maybe..like.."
"It's fine, Paul. I hope it was worth it."
I disconnected the call and sat on the couch to brood.
Jack's payday was two weeks away. That was the day that he would receive his deducted salary. It was the same day he would know that I was his boss and he was fired.
I had to make sure that my plan for Isabella took place before that day. I smiled just thinking about it. Poor Jack was going to have an interesting end month.
All thanks to yours truly.
He was going down.
