Leon had never felt pain the way he felt now. He watched as she walked away. She came in a suitcase and left with one too. Everything they owned, everything that they had worked hard for she left without a glance. Her head was high looking forward. He felt disposable and stupid. She loved him, the marrow within his bones said so but he was broken. His world faded with every step she took, she was one with him. The people around him always commended him for his ambition, for his hard work, and later his success but did they know she was the shadow behind his person, an image seen only during the darkest times but often not recognized. She was okay with that. She built him, She believed in him. He didn't disappoint her at least not in his career but the relationship different story. Her hurt sent storms of pain throughout his body. He watched. Her back is a memory he wanted to forget. He watched, every step, every tumble his fists clench and unclenched.
She ambled through the gate. He went numb, unable to fathom any emotions, not even the hurt and betrayal he once felt. What once was his mask became his face. Darkness prevailed.
He is who he wasn't.
