Zach’s Pov
She drags her finger across her exposed neck, firing a certain spark within the Cupid. It was a feeling he’s never felt before. He was drawn to her. Indeed he was. When she smiled, something about the he way her lips pull back to create that masterpiece makes his fingers tingle. And not in a bad way.
He wanted to see more of those.
He had to see more.
But alas, thoughts like these should never surface in the open. They were too dangerous.
The silver chain that sat elegantly around her neck, he wants to know what it feels like to have his own hand wrapped around her.
Would her skin be soft as they appeared to be? Zach takes in a deep breath. He was getting out of hand. His thoughts were getting out of hand. But how does one stop from coming across such thoughts?
Daylight comes and goes but Pearl hasn’t.
It’s a feeling that won’t last though. They never do.
Pearl's there. Vaeri is too. But Stell isn't anywhere to be seen. Stell, Pearl love interest. Does he really not see anything in her? A moment of silence falls within Zach’s mind. Peaceful and serene. He had to get his kind out of the gutter if he wants to finish the task. It won’t be an easy one but determination will get him through.
Zach's watching from a distance. Not too far and not too close to where their table is. When pearl suddenly leans forward, a section of her collar bone reveals itself. The side of Zack lips curls into a smirk. Stell’s probably blind if he hasn’t seen this side of her yet. Who’s turn down someone like her?
They’re not far away. Just enough to have her at his viewpoint.
Zach makes an assumption. If Vaeri's here, then it means Harper isn't so far behind. But where exactly is he? Apparently, Vaeri’s other half does not study in this school. Rather? The one that’s down the block. The rival school.
It’s rather unfortunate that fate had bounded her to him. Because according to Harper, Vaeri treasures a major dislike towards that school and it’s students.
Speaking of Harper, said cupid comes through the wall the next second, panting like he's been running.
“Don’t tell me you tan all the way there to here.” His voice is raspy and smooth. Like Velvet. He hasn’t spoken a word until now. Because why should he speak? To a room where no one can hear him, it’s better to stay quiet.
From the corner of his eyes, he captures that moment when Pearl brings her hair up; exposing more of her neck.
Was she trying to test his patience? Because it was defiantly working. And not in a good way.
The cupid collapses beside Zach- who watches with one eyebrow lifted upwards. A moment of silence takes over. He needs to catch his breath and he has all the time in the universe to do exactly that. .
"I feel like I'm being tortured right now." Utters the exhausted cupid.
I feel like I’ve been tortured too.
Zach thinks to himself. He’s had to tolerate Pearl looking like a complete snack the moment he laid his eyes on her.
So he was a bit of a playboy. Whatever’s pleasing to the eye, he loves watching it. It was something Harper had to learn the hard way.
The hours of the day goes by. Despite the temptation of messing with her, Zach makes it his priority to finish the job. He hasn’t left her side since. And yet she has yet to come across Stell.
Hes hasn’t been making any progress. Then again, it’s only been a few days since he’s been with her. Why was he rushing it though? Normally he’d take his sweet time when he’s working on a pretty face.
Although they don't exactly have a deadline for when to make two people fall in love, there comes a point where it can get annoying seeing that same face everyday.
He wants to avoid feeling bored. Which is why the timing has to be impacible. The moment he finds her as nothing but a wasted soul, he gets to move in to the other one.
No matter how hard he tries or what tactic he uses, he can never have her in the same roof with Stell.
Harper, on the other hand, isn’t making much progress, as far as he can see. He’s busy with his own person as well.
Zach has seen the trouble Harper has to go through and he’s more than fortunate to not have landed with her.
But the girl’s got a face too. Her body proportion’s just right but the problem would be her height. Yes. Zach considered height as an important assets of a lady.
“Why aren’t you falling for my tricks uh?” He was close beside her, questioning her. Their height differences was uncanny. She leveled his chest and the fact that, that’s considered the perfect height to cuddle, only makes him lose his mind even more.
Pearls a beautiful person. From the way she speak, her personality and her smile. That smile of her causes his missing heart to skip a beat. She’s making him feel all sorts of things.
“Can’t I keep you?” The whisper leaves his lips gently. It won’t reach her but at least he’s said it. Now it’s the waiting game. This feeling’s gonna vanish soon and gel return to the lack of emotions.
All morning, Pearl had been avoiding Stell. Like a while ago, Zach new Stell would stop by in her classroom so he did all he can to make her stay inside the classroom. It worked for the first five minutes until she decided to use the bathroom. By the time sha had retuned? It was time for the lecture.
She made things rather hectic for him. But it felt amazing. His previous clients gave him an easy time. And right now, Pearl had become the challenge he had least expected.
Maybe that’s why he’s drawn to her even more now. Not only did she posses the beauty of a thousand goddess, she responsible for that spark now burning within Zach’s body.
Harper leans his side against the wall with a face like he’s ready to give up. His breathing mingles with sound of students speaking. He dare not say anything an allows him to take his time catching his breath. A passed out Cupid is that last thing he needs right now. And yes. As surprising that sounds, cupids can pass out if they tend to overwork themselves. This is why rest is so important.
When Zach joins him, he raises a single eyebrow in question. He's never seen Harper in this state before. Like he's just run a marathon for seven days straight. His whole face was glowing the shade of red.
“What happened to you?”
Harper shifts and stands so his back touches the wall, sighing. “So I tried the traditional method. Had my arrow, bow and her. Just when I had shot my shot-“ He trails off, staring into the distance. “She dodges it. Like, really dodged. Either I'm going crazy and I'm losing my touch or she saw that arrow coming. Maybe some humans can see us? There must be something the office isn't telling us."
“There’s no way.” Zack tells him with a look of disbelief plastered on his face. “They’re humans.”
Harper takes it all in, eventually nodding his head. “I guess you’re right. " A moment of silence engulfs the both of them before Harper sniffing, breaks the silence. "Now I have to come up with a valid reason to tell HQ.”
Zach gives it a second, wondering what he meant by that. A thought comes in and he looks at his friend. “Let me guess. The arrow hit someone else?”
Even just hearing it causes Harper's spine to tense. “Oh, big time.” The unlucky incident crosses Harper's mind and the young cupid pinches his lips into a thin line. "What on earth am I gonna tell them? They'll kill me for sure."
"I don't think they'll kill you."
"You don't know that."
"No." Zach breaths out. "But I do know that you're putting so much thought into it, even though you don't have to. You'll be fine."
From a distance, Zack notices Pearl about to leave her table. He places a hand on Harper’s back and pats him. “Good luck with that then, buddy. I have to go.”
Just as Zack’s about to follow Pearl out the door of the cafeteria, Harper shouts through the crowd. “Good luck too! You’ll need it.”
Not long after, Vaeri also follows Pearl outside.
She catches up with her and asks her to accompany her to the bathroom. Pearl shrugs her shoulders, thinking not much of it and walks with her to the restroom. But she doesn't go inside. Instead, she waits outside the restroom for her friend and takes out her phone. From a distance, he could hear students coming out of the cafeteria and filling the hallway. Their mutters begin to fill the school walls once again.
Zach scratches the side of his head. He walks over to Pearl and peers over her shoulder. He freezes when he notices something. Her hair smells like strawberry. And compared to him, she was rather tiny in height. She's scrolling through her media. He backs off right after to give her personal space. It's rude to look at what she's doing anyway. Even though she can't see him.
"All done." Vaeri steps out of the bathroom and blinks her eyes, palms in a halt from wiping away the excess water. She looks at the distance after that and clears her throat. Pearl raises a single eyebrow up. "You okay?"
"Hmm? Oh yeah." She sounds lost for some reason, eager to walk away. Vaeri links her arm around Pearl's and begins to drag her away from the restroom. She has an awkward grin on. not the kind of grin that's normal though. More like, she's afraid." I'm fine. We better get going. Don't want to keep the teacher waiting. "
Aside from Zach finding that statement rather weird, Pearl was also having the same thought running inside her head. But she brushes it off when Vaeri begins dragging her down the hallway and into the direction of the classroom.
Harper appears the next second, standing beside Zach. "I swear to Aphrodite, I look away for one second and she's gone. You see? This is what I mean. I won't be surprised if she suddenly confronts me in the middle of nowhere because that girl-" Harper glares at the direction she had run off to. "-that girl knows I'm here and she's purposely making my life harder."
Zach raises an eyebrow, giving his friend a side glance. Without saying anything, he walks ahead with a shake of his head and a sigh.
"Dont judge me like that." Harper says with offense dripping his tone. "You're supposed to be my friend."
