“I mean if she’s telling you to leave her alone, take that chance.”
“You’re telling me to shift?”
“Exactly.” Harper flickers an invisible dust away from his arm. “She’s doing you a favor. She was a hard case to c***k to begin with. If she’s telling you to leave, she’s doing you a favor.”
Silence.
“I don’t like that look on your face man. What’s up?”
Zach takes in a deep breath. They’ve returned to their shared rooms and while he’s settled on an arm chair at the corner of his room, Harper’s on the bed staring at the stars.
“I.. don’t want to.”
“You don’t want to leave her? Don’t tell me you’ve developed some kinds of feelings for her? You can’t do that.” Harper gradually sits up and allows his legs to dangle on the bed. He’s beyond surprised by what he’s hearing. And he can only keep his fingers crossed that his assumption isn’t correct. The quietness Zach offers has the guy widening his eyes in shock. But then he looks away, pondering over the idea. He stares into the distance. “I didn’t even think that was possible.” He utters under his breath. Zach licks his lips. All this time, he had been facing the opposite side of where Harper was settled. He’s lost in his own thoughts.
Now that the cat’s out of the bag, what should he do now?
The reason why he can’t leave just like that, was because Pearl made him feel things he never thought he’d feel. Feelings he thought he wouldn’t be able to feel in the first place. It’s ridiculous now that you think about it. Cupid falling for his own client. What were the odds?
Harper nods his head slowly, trying to grasp the situation. “I still think you should hand over the shifting letter. While it’s still early. You don’t want to get in trouble man.”
And he’s right. If word goes out that he’s feeling this way over a human, it can be very bad for him.
“I guess you’re right.” He mutters under his breath. Harper stands up and strides to where he is, patting him on the back as an encouragement.
“If you need any help making that letter, just tell me. You don’t have to make up the decision today. Sleep on it. Rest well.” That being said, Harper leaves the room.
