Wrong Arrow 17
Harper stops by a school building just down the block. It was where Vaeri’s pair studied. He goes inside the building, crossing hallways and climbing up the stairs. Once he’s reached the fourth floor, he finds the person he’s been looking for. The guy was clad in a jersey jacket, flipping through a thick book. His earrings dangle with the motion, light from the sun reflecting off from it. The ambiance of the room held calmness, like him. It was lunch time and almost everyone’s in the cafeteria having their lunch. He chooses to stay, like always. This guy was neither an introvert or an ambivert. He stood in between. He knows how to party but when it’s serious time, he can do that effortlessly too. His hair was the shade of black with purple streaks. He had a prominent nose, and glasses supported his eyes. When it comes to personality, he’s rather calm and serious type. Only when he has to though. According to his friends, he’s a fun person to be around with. But there’s a reason why he’s popular within the school. It’s because of his unique look. Those slanted eyes could put anyone into a trans. Even he was once stroked by them, as embarrassing as it sounds. He balanced Vaeri. Like ring and yang. You could say he’s the perfect guy for her. It’s not easy trying to get them together though. They’ve never met and although they walk down the same street, its impossible to catch the both of them at the same time. It’s either vaeri exits school late or he leaves way too early. Which is why Harper had come up with a plan and he hopes it works. The sooner he finished this task, the better. He was getting tired seeing the same face everyday. He’s always tried. Now it’s a waiting game. Harper just needs to know what time he’ll head out of school so that he can prepare Veari. So as he waits for that specific comment to surface, he makes himself comfortable on a chair, a leg crossed over the other.
A boring lecture- that’s what’s going on inside everyone mind. Harper isn’t anywhere to be seen and the students within the classroom are either muttering their confusion or trying to stay awake. Unfortunately, one student had been caught and was told by the teacher to stay for detention. Zach was getting concerned at this rate. Concerned? Who would have thought? Zach rakes his fingers across his hair and glances at the front. The teacher was the type to not let anyone off the hook so easily. Pearls’ struggling to keep her eyes open. And because of that, she wasn’t really there when the teacher gave a student detention. If she keeps this up, she’ll land herself a juicey one for sure. “What the heck are you going on about woman?” Vaeri whispers mostly to herself. Her hair’s covering the side of her face, blocking any way of her seeing Pearl. By her tone, she’s either close to ripping her head off or is ready to walk out of the classroom. Maybe he could find a way for Vaeri to look this way. She’ll be able to make her stay awake. But she’s studying and even if he used a pen to tap her, there’s almost zero chance she’ll pay attention to it. She grabs a fistful of her hair and tugs, grinding her teeth together in frustration. Her classmate feel the same way. No one likes learning about math. But if they do, then they’re a bunch of Aliens. Vaeri puffs her cheeks, trying to catch up with the lecture. She scribbles the equations down and tries to answer it before the teacher does. In the end, the answer isn’t correct. A groan leaves her lips as she rips the paper away, stuffing it in her bag. Pearl’s scribbling in her note book too. But it’s not solution and equation from the board. Rather, a bunch of cute animals and patterns, mingles together with shapes and large anime eyes. She’s trying to stay awake. But every now and then, her vision turns blurry. Her fingers come to a halt until she’s reminded that she’s in the classroom. It’s hard to stay awake when you’re not interested in a topic. Zach’s standing beside her desk, arms crossed over his chest with a glare in his eyes. He’s been watching her for the last twenty minutes. “As as I was saying, In order to get this answer, you have to make sure your solutions aren’t all messed up.” The teacher grabs a chalk and writes a different equation before turning to face the ocean of students. “Anyone here want to try and solve this?” No one raises their hand. They keep giving each other glances, nudging one another’s elbows until eventually, the smart on in the classroom raises his hand. “Very well, James. Please come here to the board.” James wore glasses and had a clean undercut. He’s the definition of both brains and looks. He’s handed the chalk and is given the stage. It doesn’t take him that long to answer the equation. “I got it right.” Vaeri mumbles under her breath, proudly looking at her note book. “Vaeri’s trying and yet you’re over here trying to get yourself in trouble.” Zach hisses from beside the desk. Pearl only wakes up to clap when her fellow classmates does. The teacher is impressed, staring at the board with satisfaction. Zach subtly bumps her chair with his hip. Just enough to let it flinch. Pearl flutters her eyes and looks around. Her gaze lands once again on the notebook and begins to scribble words. The cupid runs his hand down his face, looking around the room. The teacher has their back facing the crowd. “You’re really planning to get yourself in trouble aren’t you?” Her pen slips past her finger and lands below her desk. She bottles awake, and sleepily bends down to pick up her pen. “At least try to stay awake. Who on earth told you to stay up late last night?” Pearl swipes a hand over her ear, eyes closed as she mumbles. “So noisy.” A fly must have flew by. But if that wasn’t the case, maybe she’s referring to her teacher being noise. “Say that out loud why don’t you?” He mutters under his breath. This period’s about to come to an end. And if she happens to get herself in trouble, then that would ruin his plan. Stalls currently at school. If she gets dismissed on time and heads out, they might cross path. Zach’s plan is to make his shot the moment they see each other. It’s the perfect plan. But at this rate, she might end up giving herself a detention. Just by sleeping in class. This case must be done today. If he’s unable to do that, then there’s a huge chance that might walk out and abandon her. It would be the first case he walked out from a case. But at least it won’t ruin his record too much. He’s trying to think positively right now. He takes in a deep breath and checks the time on his watch. Then he flickers his eyes to look at the girl who was now fast asleep. No one has noticed yet. The teacher’s facing the crowd and Vaeri’s paying too much attention on the board to even notice that her friend had fallen asleep. She brings her hair to the side, allowing it to cascade down her back. She then squints her eyes, trying to make the vision of her eye sight even clear. As if that would work. Now If only she could just turn her head slightly and see Pearl, that would help him a lot. But he doubt she’ll ever look her way. So Zach does the only thing he thinks would work right now. He hesitates for a second. With a gentle swipe of his finger upwards her forehead, Pearl flutters her eyes open and locks gazes with him.
