Wrong Arrow 25 Another set of boxes gets delivered to the office today. Dyke’s almost hesitant to allow them entrance. But what could they do? They had just cleared the office and now it was gonna be filled with boxes once again. Ristle gently pushes Dyke to the side and attends to the deliverers. “I believe we’ve received our share already. Kindly send these to the other office.” He spoke in a manner where he dares them to answer back. They had the guts to do exactly that. “We were told to deliver them here.” Ristle shakes his head. “And I beleive I told you that we’ve already received out share. Kindly deliver these to the other office. Thank you.” He doesnt wait for them to say anything and turns his back on them. The white owl glides down from the air and lands elegantly on the ground. “Not bad. Didn’t think you had it in you to tell them off.” Rislt walks over to the table and taps on a button, a holographic form materializes in the air and earth’s math shows itself. The white beeps seen on the holographic screen indicates the locations of their cupids. And the rest of the dots hold the shade or red, pink, blue, black and even purple. “I left them off the hook for way too long.” Ristle admits as he pinches his fingers to zoom in on a certain cupid. Harper’s face shows up. And by the looks of it, he doesn’t look way too happy. It’s a hidden fact towards the cupids- that they can see their every moves. But theyre only granted this access whenever they ;eave earth. It doesn’t work when theyre existing in this dimension. Colby chuckles before turning to Dyke. “You can take that break you wanted now. Have fun.” Ristle slides the screen and zooms in on Zach. The latter’s keeping a close eye on Pearl- who was scribbling down on a note book. The second Dyke leaves, Colby walks over to where Ristle is. he looks at the screen. “Do you think he knows?” Ristle narrows his eyebrows as he tries to zoom in on the two. But right before he could do that, Colby zooms out and exits the screen. “I have a feeling he’s suspicious.” Colby nods his head, plopping on the chair. “I think so too.” A knock on the door gets heard and this time Colby walks over there to check who it is. “Oh Mark. It’s you. How can we help you?” The red haired smiles. “Um not much really. Just a bunch of questions that I a really need answering. Like uh the purple-“ He gets cut off. “What purple?” Colby may be smiling, but that held a different meaning behind. “A purple folder.” Says Mark. “I heard they’re rather rare. Together with blue an-“ Colby’s eyes slightly furrows. But it’s fast to disappear. He smiles at Mark. “Oh would you look at the time. Listen, I’d love to entrain you as much as I can, but we’ve got our own little jobs to accomplish. Maybe next time?” Colby still holds that smile on his face. Mark nods his head in understanding and turns away to leave first. The white owl closes the door gently, seconds before he’s spreading his wings and flies into the air. * * * * * * * * * * It was lunch time and Vaeri was on her way to the cafeteria. A sudden cold breeze brushes past her causing her to stop. And then next thing she knew, that ghost’s standing in front of her. Way too close. And his gaze’s fixated on her. She does the first thing that comes to mind. Pretend like you don’t see him. She looks away, trying to pretend like she doesn’t see him. It’s not the best ides though. He opens his mouth. “You could see me all these time?” He had his eyes furrowed, almost like he’s angry. She doesn’t understand why he’s angry. It’s still not too late to back out from her plan though. She can still pretend she doesn’t see him. She’s bends down, pretending to tie her shoe while gradually twisting her body so that she’s facing the other side. Where he isn’t blocking her way. Once she think she’s got a perfect chance of walking away undetected, he blocks her path and a squeak leaves her lips. That is all Harper needs to confirm what Zach had told him this morning. He looks away, laughing like he’s about to lose his mind. “You could see me all these time?” He says. “Why aren’t you saying anything?” Vaeri blinks her eyes, looking up to meet his gaze. He was taller, and even good looking up close. It’s ridiculous how a good looking soul died quite early. “Are…are you talking?” That statement only riles his up even more. “Of course. I am. Don’t pretend you don’t hear me.” Vaeri scratches her neck, appearing awkward all of a sudden. There seems to be a problem in communication between them though. And this is something she’s finding out now. How does she say these without making him even more pissed? “So the thing is..” She Strats off gently. “I can see you. But I..uh. I can’t hear you.” Harper widens his eyes. But as fast as it was to appear, its fast to disappear. He furrows his eyebrows once again. “You’re joking.” Vaeri’s taking this all in quite professionally. It’s the first time she’s spoken - or at least - communicated with a spirit in the past ten years. She adds to her words. “But I can read lips though. And no I’m not joking.” She tells him honestly. Harper takes a step back, nodding his head. “I see. You still haven’t unlocked your full potential yet. But that still doesn’t make me less angry. You made me go through all that crap and ugh.” He’s saying a lot of things ans he’s having a hard time catching up to all of it. She can tells that he’s frustrated though. Maybe because he wants to cross over soon and the prolonging act is making hm feel bad with every passing second. That could be it right? She’ll never know if she never asks. “I can only guess what youre saying when you speak slowly. Now you mentioned something about full potential. I couldnt get the rest.” Harper sends her a glare before walking away. He leaves her speechless. A look of disbelief takes over Vaeri’s face and she scoffs. “What the heck was that? If I knew he was gonna be rude then I wouldnt have exposed myself like that. Fine! Be that way. You better not show your face to me again or I swear to god.” Passing students were giving her weird looks. She was talking to the wind. “You people really need to learn to mind your own business.” Vaeri rolls her eyes and curses that ghost in fifty different languages. Pearl had decided to stay a little longer inside the classroom. Zach obvioulsy stays behind too. Now it was just the two of them. He’s not a big fan of watching her now. After spending time with her, she was rather a boring girl. She’s pretty, but boring. Those two just don’t work together. Zach playing with a pen, on a chair with his chin resting in top of the desk. “Are you sure you don’t want to eat anything? Your limbs look more like a stick than hands.” He says from the seat across from her. Pearl had her earphones plugged in and she bobs her head to the music blasting. Zach’s observing her and absently says under his breath. “I wonder what Harper’s doing right now. After what your friend put him through, he’s probably giving her a piece of his mind right now.” Pearl’s fingers comes to a halt. She looks at her bag, pulling out a bottle of water and drinking it all in. Next she grabs her notebook and dumps it in her backpack. “Hey wait!” Zach follows her outside the classroom. Pearl finds Vaeri in the middle of the hallways conversing to none but herself. “You okay?” Vaeri rolls her eyes. “You’ll never beleive what happened just now. I thought to him. Well not exactly talked to him since I can’t hear him but we had a conversation either way. But then he walked off while I was in the middle of talking. Can you beleive that guy. And here I was trying to help him cross over and yet that’s the attitude he gives me? Yeah good luck finding someone else who can see you since there’s no one.” She was annoyed too it seems. Zach appears right in front of them and Vaeri tenses. “You know what’s annoying though? Is that I can see him but can’t see the other one.” Pearl looks at her friend. “The other one?” Vaeri looks around and stares into a distnae. But in the perceptive of Zach, she was looking straight at him. “This one. The one that keeps following you.” Pearl takes in a deep breath. “I heard they’re serving banana cake today. If you leave now? You might still make it.” “You’re joking.” “I’m not. Not go ahead. I’ll be right there with you in a second.” The second she’s out of her view, Pearl tucks a hair behind her ear and walks the opposite side. Zach stands there, confused. Just now. Pearl avoided him. And it’s doesn’t look like she’s away of what she’s done. “You can see me.” He doesn’t think twice and goes after her, blocking her way. She stops, breath hitching. A scoff leaves the cupids lips. “Unbelievable. And you made me think I was the crazy one. Not only could you see me, you can hear me too.” He takes a step forward, causing her to back away. attempting to ditch him from the side, he’s fast enough to block her view. “So im guessing you know everything uh? Then do me a favor and let me finish my job.” She brings her gaze to meet his won. “Go away.” Did she really just tell him to go away? A smirk tickles the side of his face. “And why would I do that sweetheart? Hmm?” Fire burns from behind those dark eyes. She takes a step back. “Because I know why youre here. And I don’t need your help. You’re just wasting your time.” Zach tilts his head to the side. “Indeed I wasted my time on you. But who’s fault was it to begin with? If you only cooperated, I would have been gone by now. But you didn’t.” “Im not the one who told you tp show up out of the blue and say those disgusting things about me.” Disgusting? It doesnt cross his mind until a couple of seconds. “Ah you mean those. Ever heard of empty words? I didn’t think you would hear me and I felt bored. Why? Did you perhaps fall for me in the process? Is that why you continued to pretend you couldnt see me so that I could with you a little longer? Because if that was the case, then you’re quite petty arent’ you?” The school isnt the best place to have this conversation. But it’s not like anyone’s around to witness this. Pearl takes in a deep breath. “So what if I did fall for you? What if I really wanted to keep you all for myself? Being selfish isn’t always a sin you know. And you have no idea how much ive come to hate myself because of that. There. It’s out. Now that you know the truth, I want you to never show your face again.” Pearl walks away, leaving the cupid speechless. What exactly happened just now? Everything had started that day. When he shows dup for the first time. Pearl thought he was the most beautiful thing he’s ever seen. Se thought he was like her. A human. But she proven wrong. He was anything but human. At first, he thought he was a ghost. But the more she spent time with him, she came to realize that he wasnt that. And his true goal broke her heart to pieces. So she tried to ignore him. made it seem as if she couldnt see him. But sometimes, achieving that goal was hard. He’d look at him whenever he wasnt looking. He looked so surreal. Prominent nose, and a strong jaw bone that could cute through anything. Whenever he smiled, her heart fluttered. She fell for him hard. So hard that she didn’t want him to go away. The relief that crossed her when her best friend revealed that she saw something too was incredible. She wanted to tell her on the stop that she could see them too. But she didn’t. It was her selfishness that made him glued to her. But who’s fault was it exactly? It was him who kept saying flowery words. He’s the reason she’s always on her feet. She thought he had fallen for her too. But that didn’t seem like the case. It didn’t take her that long to realize what his goal was. And she didn’t like it. The potion he put on their drinks, it worked. But Pearl had made sure to look at him when she took it. One would think she’s a psycho for doing that. But it was something that couldnt be helped. “Pearl!” She ignores him, grabbing her bag from her desk. He shouldn’t see her this way. She’s a mess. And its embarrassing. “Didn’t I tell you to get lost already?” She shippers yells at him. “We need to talk.” He tries to grab hold of her but his hands passes through. Like a ghost. A broken laugh leaves her lips. “Stop lying to yourself. If you really wanted us to talk you would have grabbed me by now. But you didn’t.” When he sees her tear stained eyes, something in his heart cracks. Pearl walks past him and exits the building. Her words echoed in his head. After a moment, he turns around and runs after her again. The orange gold stretches far and wide, the colour of fire hearths and tangerines. It is but the reflection of the dawn, the promise of the rising sun that comes after the velvety night has had its say and the land has rested once more. The orange gold stretches far and wide, the colour of fire hearths and tangerines. It is but the reflection of the dawn, the promise of the rising sun that comes after the velvety night has had its say and the land has rested once more. With the setting sun came a sky of fire, the orange of every wintry hearth. It was the battle cry to the gathering night, that the only achievement of darkness is to show starlight all the more clearly. The sunset is merely a prelude to the dawn, yet its majesty fills my mind with the most beautiful of dreams. As my eyes drift to rest I am one with the stars, my skin cooled by the breeze, and when I awake the sky will be radiant with the first kiss of the new day. At the edge of the cloud there was a brilliant white patch, like a turning page catching the sun. The rest was dove grey with a subtle hint of purple, just enough to announce the coming sunset. “Sora!” She ignores him, running even faster. She wipes away her tears and focuses on stabling her breaths. Even though she’s gotten a heads up, Zach manages to catch up. And when he stands in front of her, she collides on his chest. His arms wrap around her body tightly. “Let go of me!” Zach rolls his eyes. “You know I can’t do that.” Pearl grinds her teeth together, Struggling to free herself. “And why not?” Zach leans in closer so that his lips brushes the lobe of her ear. “Because im selfish too.” Mustering all the strength she can gather, she pushes him away. Zach gives her a rather annoyed look. Thats a first someones ever used him away. even the female cupids from work have never done that before. A look of disgusts written all over her face. he can't hep but find it amusing. “You’re unbeleibavle." She spites at him, wiping her tears using the back of her hand. "After what you said back there, you think you can have things your way? You’re crazy.” indeed he was crazy. and she's the reason he's like this. its funny because just a while ago, she had admitted to being crazy about him. Where did all that craziness go go? he wonders. She's about to walk away but he opens his mouth to say his next words. “Im not the one who admitted they kept me here on purpose. It was you Sora. And the second you said those words, it’s not easy to back away just like that. You should know better” He tells her in a challenging tone. He could yell all he liked but Pearl couldn't do it freely. there are eyes everywhere and she was stuck. Zach wasn't one to give up on a challenge. And she knew that all too well. And Pearl denying it more only fuels him all the way up. She still had tears streamingw dn her eyes and it was so freaking addicting to watch. “Oh really? Well news flash for you, Zach, after getting all those out of my chest, I feel a whole lot better. I dont need you know so you better take your diaper and arrow with you and go home. Hand over your shift letter or whatever because I mean it when I say I dont want to ever see your face again.” “I can read you like an open book Sora. I know damn well that you don’t mean a word you just said.” She grinds her teeth even more. he doesn't like the facts that he could read her so openly. it annoyed her now. “You don’t know me.” She spites at him with some much hatred in her eyes only to receives a knowing smile from the cupid. “Oh I do, love." He tells her in a gentle, sweet voice. "And you’d be surprised to know exactly how much I know about you.”
