Ceremony

I was in class but my mind was not in class, yeah, I know you must be thinking why I had left the ceremony last night, or what use was it to me when I was not able to find a mate, no man was even ready to say hello to me.

I know that by now, information must have gotten to my grandfather and he must be disappointed in me for what happened. He should get used to the fact that I will not find a mate at all. Sad, right?

“ Clara?" I heard my name.

It was my teacher, he had caught me absent-minded again, it was the second time he would call my name like that.

“ I am sorry, sir," I said with a shaking voice.

“ You have to pay attention to me, you know you have exams to write,” he said.

It made my stomach rumble at the thought of that.

The class was over and I was happy about it.

" What is going on with you?” Willow asked.

" Something happened at the place where I had gone last night, but I did not get to see who it was”

" What happened there?” She asked me.

" Hey, ladies, who wants some chips?" He asked as he interrupted our conversation.

“ I do not care about that, my mind is on something very important and I want to figure out what is happening to me," I said.

It made Rowan pause, he looked at me, then looked at his twin.

“ Is there something I am missing?" He looked confused.

“ Let's buy his idea, let's go talk about it over the chips" Willow led the way.

She took us to where we got tasty chips, and we took our seats at a small table.

Soon after, Kyran came to join us, he kissed Willow on the cheeks.

“ You are not going to do that in front of me, are you blind? Did you not see that I am here?” he hit Kyran playfully.

" Get your hands off me, buddy, I never asked the Moon Goddess not to find you someone that you could share a kiss with” He sat down beside Willow.

“Okay guys, I told Willow I was not interested in any mate thing, I did not have a wolf and there was no way that I could get a mate, but when I went into the woods, I began to feel something that seemed like a bond, but I could not see the person” I explained to them.

They exchanged glances, I know it sounded silly.

" Is this part of your imagination or did this happen last night?” Rowan asked.

“ It happened last night," I answered.

“ I bet it was your imagination playing some tricks on you," said Kryan.

" I believe you, Clara. I saw when you left the ceremony, I wanted to go after you but I was with Krya and I could not do so” She said.

I was glad that she believed me.

“ Thank you, I want to know who that person is," I said.

“ The feeling you felt might be different, you know? Or I may be wrong, just know that whatever it is, we are here, if you need any help" Rowan said.

I thanked him.

“ But how are you ever going to find him?" Willow asked me.

“ I have no idea,” I said.

They checked the time, it was time for them to go home, and their drivers were already waiting for them.

I had to wait for my brother to come pick me up, I did not want to join Willow and her brother on their ride. While I stood there waiting for my cousin to come, I noticed that no one saw that I was there, no one was even talking to me at all.

I waited for Robert till he came to pick me up.

I got home and silently prayed that I did not see Grandpa at home, I got into the house. My Aunt welcomed me.

I got my food and began to eat, my mind went to what happened in the woods.

“ Is everything okay?" I heard Robert ask me.

“ Yes" I quickly answered, I did not want him to ask me anything about it and I was not ready to talk about it as well. I have told Willow and the others about it, it was enough.

I finished eating and I went to my room, yes, I had a room to myself and that was so satisfying.

I loved how comfortable my bed was. My uncle did not let me lack, I know I had few friends and just my family but they were enough for me.

The door opened and my Aunt walked in.

“ Aunt Eve” I sat upright.

" How was school?”

" School was fine,” I answered.

" How was last night, I heard you did not get any luck,” She said.

" Yeah, that is because I have no wolf yet, and you see? It is not possible to get a mate, every man seems to avoid me, what am I supposed to do?” I looked at her.

She sighed, trying to avoid my face.

" I am so sorry, Clara. I believe that this will get itself fixed” She held my hands.

I smiled, it was not so much of a disturbance to me but it worried me because I knew it would worry her and of course my grandfather.

“ Does grandfather know about this?" I asked her.

“ I have not spoken to him and I do not intend to do so, he has not spoken to me as well but I know that he must have heard about it, words spread so fast,” She said.

Soon, her phone began to ring.

“ Who is calling?" I asked. I panicked because I suspected that it must be my grandfather.

She took her phone and looked at it, then her eyes went on me, and she showed me the phone.

I gulped in.

“ You should pick up" I was ready for the worst.

She picked up his call.

“ Where is Clara?" His voice ran through the phone, it was so loud. It came from the place of anger.

“ She is at home," She said, she did not tell him that I was close to her.

“ At home? Do you dare keep her in the house? Are you not aware of what is going on? Have you not heard what happened? The young ladies that went to that ceremony came back with a mate, well, except her" He said.

My Aunt looked at me with a pitiable face, but I did not want to be pitied at all.

“ She was not the only one who did not get a match, besides, the Alpha did not get a match as well,” She said.

" How dare you compare the Alpha to Clara, the Alpha has so many choices to make, I am sure that he has lots of women who are at his table, ready to be the Luna,” He said.

" I will talk to Clara,” Aunt Eve said.

" You better do” He ended the call.

I was relieved, even though I did not act it rather it was Aunt Eve who acted that way.

" You promised to talk to me, I hope I am not having any lectures concerning that?" I asked.

“ Oh no, I would not do that, you should rest, at least we have the next ceremony coming forth, you should prepare for that" She left.

I could not imagine myself preparing for that, and then the thought of my grandfather coming to this house to talk to me about how I have just one more chance to get a mate, made me want to throw up.

I got outside and saw that Robert was by his car, he was seriously on his phone and I wondered what was wrong.

“ Is everything okay?" I asked him.

“ Yeah, sure, it is just some issues I am having at my workplace, but I will get it fixed, it is a small issue," He said.

His face said otherwise, I know he was trying to make me not to worry about him but it was not working at all.

“ I can see it through you that something is wrong, you should talk to me about it, and with the look on your face, it is not a small issue, you should not be lying to me" I hit his shoulders.

“Okay fine, you got me, I have an issue with the manager, I did something wrong and I have been pleading with him but it seems his mind is made up, I can not lose my job, Clara” He looked so sad, and it hurt me that he was looking that way.

“ We should go see your manager, and you have to change that look, I am sure you do not want your mum to see that"

We got into the car and he drove us to the place where he works, which was an automobile outlet.

" Here it is”

" Nice, it looks big and nice as well” I had to say. I had not been there before, his pay was quite good as well.

We got out of the car and I walked behind him as we went inside the building.

I was there when I had a call, it was Willow that was calling me, I had to put my phone off, and when I was done with this, would call her back.

“ What exactly did you come here for? I just obeyed your instructions like some dummy" He giggled.

“ To take to your boss"

“ To do what?" His eyes widened

“ I am sure you heard me the first time”

" if that was why we came here, then we should head back home” he tried to make me go back but I was not going to accept that from him.

“ Show me his office"

“ No, that will not be necessary at all, let's head back home"

I refused, and I stayed there until he walked out of the room, he was well dressed, and he looked good too. The other staff were greeting him with lots of respect, I suspected that it must be his boss.

“ What are you still doing around this environment? I asked you to leave and you have to leave," He said.

I loved his voice. It was calm in a way or was it because he had not raised it yet?

“ Good day sir" I greeted.

“ Who are you and what do you want?" His eyes went to me.

“ Sir, Robert is my brother and I know that he might have misbehaved, but I want you to consider taking him back to yourself. I know that this will be hard but please sir, do not relieve him of his job" I pleaded with him.

He looked at me and scoffed.

“ You brought your sister here?" He asked Robert.

“ No, he did not, I was the one who came here on my own" I jumped in.

" Please, let him stay,” I begged.

" Go home, I will think about it, he will get my message, whether to resume or not" he left us there.

I walked back to the car without uttering a word to Robert.

“What would you do if you lost your job?” I asked him.

“ Get another one”

" When will that be? It is not like you will get another one in such a short time, your father and your mother will be aware of it even before you get a new job” I said.

" Let's wait for his message, then we will know what you do with that" he started the car and drove us to the house.

I got home, it was getting dark, I took my phone from my bag and called Willow.

“ Hey, you called, I'm so sorry that I was not able to pick up, I had something I needed to sort out with my cousin," I said.

“ Okay, I just wanted to ask you if you later went to the big hall after we left?"

I hit my forehead.

“ No, I did not, I should have done that, I guess I will check tomorrow then," I said.

She ended the call.

I looked at my phone, for real? She only called me to ask me about that.

I went to my bedroom and began to hope that my wolf was given to me so that my grandfather could be off on my case, I did not care about a mate for myself but because my case was already bad, and not finding a mate was going to get it worse, I will be stigmatized anywhere I go to.

I was already being avoided because I was like this.

I sat on my bed, took my phone, and checked the numbers that I had on my phone. There were not many because I do not have that many friends. I was satisfied with that life but everyone around me was not.

I was grateful that my grandfather had a place at the pack house and that made him impose the rule that everyone should treat me well, though they did not come close to me, they avoided me so much.

The door to my room opened, and my Aunt stood there.

“ You should come take your dinner," She said.

I left my room and went to the dining table.

"Hey Uncle Garette," I said.

“ How are you doing? I heard your grandfather called" he smirked.

" I do not want to be reminded about such an awful thing,” I said.

We sat down and we began to eat.

" But you have to talk about it, besides, he might come here to give you his lecture”

" It better not be true. I do not want to see him"

" You can not run away from it, and it is something he will always talk about. Left for me, I will want you to do what makes you happy and leave what you have no control over” He said in a serious tone, I knew that he was looking out for me.

He may not say it to my face, but I know he was concerned about me not having my wolf and not finding a mate as well.

“ Thank you," I said to him.

" If he comes here and tries to talk you into something you are not comfortable with, let him know how you feel,” He said.

I do not think it is a good idea, my grandfather had a way of making me do the things that he wants because he is the one seeing to it that I go to school even though he complains that I am just a waste of his money.

I finished eating and I went back to my room. It was my routine, except when my Aunt said otherwise. I lay on the bed, scared of the next ceremony that was coming forth.
