Breaking and Entering

950 Words
I knew this was a bad idea. Trish always had bad ideas since we were kids. Yet here we are outside of the old abandoned farmhouse on millers lane, at 1 in the morning in the pouring rain.  Trish, it was probably just lightning that you saw.  Since when is lightning bright green Scarlett?  I don't know, I said.  Maybe it hit a power line or something? We are supposed to be having a sleepover at my house tonight but Trish dragged us out here because of something her crazy brain thinks it saw. I should have brought my umbrella, I said. Watching Trish look for a way into the creepy abandoned house. Yeah, Scarlet that won't draw attention to us, you and your big yellow duck umbrella. Morgan said sarcastically. I could barely even see her in her all-black outfit. All I could really make out was her Lavender hair. Oh Shut up Morgan, Like Trish's phone light is not drawing enough attention to us right now. We are for sure going to get caught….I thought to myself. Both of you shut up and come here. I got the window open, help me up, Said Trish. We both shut up and went to help her.  Isn't this breaking and entering? Which last I Checked was illegal.  I questioned.  Scarlet, will you chill and live a little? Come on, it's an adventure.  Whatever, I huffed under my breath. We have been best friends since we were kids they should know me by now that im not one to break rules or risk getting in trouble. Are you almost in your heavy and I'm losing grip? Yeah almost, Said Trish. As she pulled herself up over the window sill. Just then I didn't feel her weight anymore and heard a big crash. She fell in the window! Oh my god, are you okay? Trish? We heard her laughing hysterically, covered by the darkness of the house.  Scarlett chill I’m fine, come on I'll pull you up. We saw the room light up by her phone light as she propped it up to help us through the window.  We were all in and I looked around. I  was creeped out because the room we were in was furniture covered by dusty sheets. It looked like a living room in a horror movie.  Morgan didn't seem phased at all; in fact, she seemed fascinated. She carefully moved through the room looking at the pictures on the walls and the details of the house.  So, what now? I questioned. I don't think what you're looking for is here. It doesn't look like anything or anyone has been here in years.  A loud bang of thunder rumbled the house and I screamed like I had been shot. I would have run out of there if I wasn't terrified to be by myself in the dark in a cornfield. Trish said to calm down, it's just the rain and that we won't be here much longer.  I  just wanted to look around since we are already here. You know breaking and entering and everything. She laughed.  Yeah, I heard this place was haunted but I've wanted to check it out for myself. Morgan added. I stared at her with wide eyes and she didn't seem to be joking. Just then we heard the floorboards creak with what sounded like footsteps above us.  Very funny guys. Was this just a big joke to scare me? I scoffed unamusedly. Some friends you guys are. I added. I’m not falling for it, Trish. Trish?  I turned and Trish wasn't where she was a minute ago. That must have been her upstairs, Calm down. Said Morgan. Trish? she said as she started up the stairs.  I hurried after my purple-haired friend, not wanting to be left alone.  Trish? She questioned again a little louder. You're not funny, Trish quit being an ass. I said sternly. What do you mean?  We heard from the bottom of the steps behind us. I spun so fast I almost fell. Trish was there at the bottom of the steps holding her phone that was shining toward her face, lighting up her familiar blonde hair and blue eyes. Where were you? We called for you. We thought we heard you upstairs. Morgan asked. I wasn't upstairs, I was in what I think was the kitchen getting some video for my page. She laughed a bit. Why? She questioned. Do you think we should really be recording ourselves committing a crime? I questioned loudly. It's fine we didn't hurt anyone or anything, it's just for fun. Trish explained. We heard something hit the floor above us as if someone had dropped something. We all looked up at the ceiling at the same time then at each other.  I ran as fast as I could to get the hell out of there. You would have thought I was the track star over Trish the way I ran for my life.  I didn't stop running until I  got back through the window into my room. I wasn't 100% sure they were even behind me but I wasn't turning around to look.  We laid on my floor drenched, covered in mud, and gasping for air. I'm never doing anything like that again. You guys can’t make me. I gasped out.  I knew you were going to say that. Morgan said flatly. Trish laughed out loud. We laid awake the rest of the night wondering what we heard and why we listened to Trish in the first place. It sounded like human footsteps I was sure of it. I thought to myself.
