"Hmm,this seems like the class." I look at the door then back to paper in my hand.
'Room 135 A.'
"Yep that's it." I take a deep breath and opened the door interrupting the class and making everyone turn to me.
'Yay,attention.' I roll my eyes at them and faced the teacher who was looking at me with scrutiny. I fold my arms and wait for him.
He narrows his eyes at me then goes behind his desk,he looks at me once again and begins to speak.
"A new student I assume,miss..."
"Overt,Jessica Overt."
"Are you part French,miss Overt?"
"No." I look back at him,the least surprised he asked me that.
"Well, miss Overt,I presume a new student would try to arrive at the school earlier than usual, look around, and try to find his or her class before the it starts." He looks at me blankly. I open my mouth to speak but he interrupts me. "I expect absolute discipline from my students miss Overt, you understand that don't you?"
"I understand,Mr..."
"Parker,Edmond Parker."
"Parker."
"Very good, please find a place to seat miss Overt. And I trust this won't happen again." Before I could respond to him the door is yanked open and the overly-bubbly girl from before bounces in.
"Miss Hathaway,I'm surprised you actually made it this early. Well,
earlier than usual."
"Sorry Mr parker,won't happen again."
"Sure it won't,after you spend a sufficient amount of time in detention, I'm sure such a thing won't repeat itself."
"Huh?!,but..."
"To your seat, miss Hathaway." Chelsea sighs then walks to her seat.
"That applies to you as well, miss Overt." I roll my eyes and turn to find a suitable seat. I look around and saw two seats left, one beside the window and one at the back of the class. After contemplating the two choices I chose the one next to the window.
I walk to the direction, ignoring the scrutinizing eyes following my every move. I drop down on the seat with a sigh then placed my head on my arm resting on the table.
"Alright everyone, back to the subject matter of today." Parker picks a book from his desk and walks to the front of the class. "Could anyone tell me their opinion of Goldsmith's She stoops to conquer?"
"Um..." Everyone hum in unison. Mr Parker sighs then holds the bridge of his nose.
"Honestly, you children are really getting on my nerves. Are you telling me no one understands this book?" Parker raises the book up and waves it around. Before he could continue, the noise from the speaker cuts him off, then the voice of the secretary rings out.
"Mr Parker, please visit the principal's office."
"Ugh,very well. In the mean time,I want you all to write a two page report on your opinion of Goldsmith's book." The whole class groans in agony. "You all have till I get back." Without another word Parker exits the room.
'I guess the 'all' includes me.' I sigh then got ready to work.
I'm actually quite lucky I read this book while we were moving here so I got a rough understanding of the it.
I get started on my report ignoring the environment around me. I didn't notice that someone was standing next to me until I saw their shadow.
I turn my head and saw Chelsea smiling at me in an overly bubbly manner.
"Hi." She cheerfully greeted me.
"Hey." I raised an eyebrow and responded.
She turns to the boy with glasses sitting next to me and talks to him cheerfully.
"Hey,can I sit here?" She reveals a cheerful and cute smile. The boy looks at her starstruck at first then shakes his head and looks down,a tiny blush coating his freckled cheeks.
"I-I can't." He timidly answers.
"Aww,why not?" She pouts at him which makes him blush harder.
"Uh...I-I'm helping s-someone w-with his work." He stutters.
"Really, who?" She asks, her face turning blank.
"H-h-him." He points to the another boy sitting beside him who's talking to another boy.
"Oh,okay." She replies her face turns bubbly and overly cheerful, too overly cheerful. "Hey,bullhead." She shouts, her nice and sweet demeanour changing drastically, shocking everyone around her.
"Huh?!" The boy she yelled at turned his head to her.
"Yeah, you. Move your ass to the back." She points her thumb to where she supposedly sat.
My eyebrows rise up in surprise. I'd never thought she could be like this.
'A classic Harley Quinn,how nice.'
"Excuse me?" The boy stands up and turns to face Chelsea, but no sooner did he look at her he gasps in surprise. "Ch-ch-chelsea?"
"In the flesh." She smiles widely and c***s her head to the side.
"Wh-what do you need?" He splutters, darting his eyes left and right.
"I need you to do your own work and move to the back."
"What?! He owes me."
"It sounds as if I asked for your opinion." She narrows her eyes at him. "Did I ask for your opinion?"
"N-no?" He shakes his head rapidly.
"Then buh-bye." She wiggles her fingers at him.
"I..." He looks at his friend, obviously asking for help, but all his friend does is shrug. Listless,he turns and looks around, trying to look for someone to help him,but either no one pays attention or they ignore him.
He sighs, grabs his report from the boy, takes his stuff from his table and stomps to the backseat.
"Yay,now you can move." She smiles to the boy next to me.
"Al-alright." The boy timidly changes his seat and sat where the boy sat before.
"Thanks." She smiles at him then plops down on his seat. "Hi." She turns to me and greets me happily.
"Hi?" I raise an eyebrow at her.
"We went off on the wrong foot last time, how about we start over?" I roll my eyes inconspicuously then sigh.
"Sure,I'll bite." I shrug. "Jessica,
Jessica Overt."
"Chelsea, Chelsea Hathaway." She smiles at me. I smile for a millisecond then go back to my report.
"So,where did you school before you switched here?"
"How did you know I switched here?"
"Call it a hunch?" She shrugs with a devious smile.
I narrow my eyes at her then answer her question. "A school in Wisconsin."
"Oh,what's the name?"
"I'd rather not talk about this right now,Chelsea. Aren't you supposed to be writing your report?"
"Oh,I already did it."
"You did a two page report under 5 minutes?" I look at her, skepticism clearly written on my face.
"What? no. I did it way earlier than that, lil' tip from me,in Parker's class you should be a couple of steps ahead. Mostly everyone is." She gestures to more than half of the students who are busy chatting rather than writing.
My eyes skim over them then stop at two girls who were whispering and looking at our direction. I frown and narrow my eyes at them.
"Who are you looking at?" Chelsea turns her head to the direction of the two girls. As soon as they saw her they stopped and pretended they didn't do anything, she turns back to me and raises an eyebrow.
When they saw her turn back they continue to whisper. Before I could yell at them, the door yanks open. Parker walks in,sporting a gloom and doom expression, with a boy walking in behind him, frowning and rolling his eyes.
My eyes widen when I realise it's the guy from earlier. The one dressed in denim, who fought in the hall earlier except now I can see his face more clearly.
"Take your seat,Mr Charming." Parkers says, his jaw rigid as he massages his temple.
The boy,Charming, glances at him then turns around. As soon as he turned around most of the girls started 'adjusting' their clothes.
Chelsea and I catch each other's eyes, she rolls hers while I sneer in disgust.
I decide to not pay them any attention and focus on the rest of my report, well that was until I saw someone's shadow hovering over me.
I raise my head blankly and saw the boy in front of me looking down at me coldly. I raise an eyebrow questionably.
"Ugh,what the hell is she doing?" One of the girls from before says in disgust. "Can't you tell that's his seat? Get up." I stare at her menacingly.
"Why should I?" I stare at her through hooded eyes then turn to the boy in front of me. "It's not like his name is on it."
Everyone gasps in astonishment at what I said, they watched the both of us staring each other down. The tension surrounding us is so thick, you could cut it with a knife.
"Uh-oh,s**t's about to go down."
"The both of you should knock it off right this instant. Might I remind you,Mr Charming, that you are still in lot of trouble for the stunt you and Mr Matthews pulled earlier?"
"Is he talking about the fight between him and Jackson?"
"They got caught, damn. I thought I'd never see the day."
"I suggest you find a new seat,Mr Charming and start on your assignment." Parker resolutely said and sat down at this desk.
Charming snarls in anger then moves away to find a new seat, with girls trying to get his attention and have him seat next to them.
I turn to Chelsea and she gave me a thumbs up and mouthed 'awesome',I roll my eyes and turn away.
'Great,I got my self a migraine.'
I sigh in exasperation and rest my head on the table.
