1080 Words

Astrid’s POV His eyes never left me, yet I never felt like prey. At least not yet. He drew his lower body out of the water, and I looked away first. “I don't intend to lose the arrow if I feel safe," I answered his question. He brushed his hair backward and squeezed the wetness out of it. His eyes remained on me. By now, all I could think of was how far the hunter must’ve gone. I had completed the mission, and just needed to survive it. Under the moonlight, I was a moonborn wolf. Almost invincible. If I made a run for it, there’s a chance this Lycan wouldn’t chase, especially if he knew he could clash with a pack of rogues. “Why are you associated with rogues now?” His question drew my attention back to him. He spoke as if he were just friends catching up on each other’s lives.
