Chapter 27
It’s getting on for five o’clock and everyone is packing up. I go down to reception where Vicky is sorting out the mail to post on her way to the Lido. We always invite our temps to after-work drinks. Emily likes them to feel part of the team.
‘Hi Vicky,’ I say. ‘I’ve got some tenants coming in at five for a sign up. I hope they’re here a bit before that but I’ll come down so don’t you lock up. I’ll do that.’
I’m sure Lisa has told Vicky to lock up the moment five o’clock appears on her computer screen. There is no way I want that to happen and Joanne and Rod go away because they think we are shut.
‘Are you sure? Lisa said it was my job to lock up. I could wait if you like.’ Lisa has not got the full process across to her. There is no way Lisa would wait.
‘Don’t you worry!
