LOVE AND WARJim was the boy I grew up with. He was also the boy I swore to hate. He came from a poor family and was always seen as "perfect" in the eyes of my parents. CHAPTER 1:Anna’s POV
"Ouch!" I screamed as one of the servants accidentally poured cold water on my expensive dress. My mom rushed into the room when she heard me screaming. "Anna, what’s wrong?" she asked. "Mom, this useless girl poured cold water on me!" I replied, and in a fit of rage, I slapped the maid. "Anna, stop it! It’s not a big deal; it’s just water and nothing else," Mom said angrily. I dashed out of the room in a huff, only to end up bumping straight into Jim. "s**t! Could this day get any worse? Urgh!" I mumbled to myself. He wore loose pants and a black top, which highlighted features that every teenage girl would wish for. I glared at him with pure hatred and headed downstairs. The mansion was filled with the aroma of egg and bacon sandwiches that my housekeeper, Annie, had made. "Can't you greet Annie?" I snapped as I grabbed my meal. "Or are you blind not to see me here?" I ate my food elegantly, not caring about what I had just said. Jim came downstairs and saw what had happened. He apologized to Annie, which was so annoying. Honestly, he is the most useless, good-for-nothing dude I have encountered in all my seventeen years on planet Earth. "Anna, please, can you be polite?" Jim said calmly. "I hope you change before it's too late." "f**k off, Jim! Do you have to be this annoying so early in the morning?” Well, I’ve known Jim since my family and I moved into our new mansion in Canada. That’s how I met Jim—as the son of one of the house helps. Even though I hate him so much, my parents got him into the same school as mine with the useless opinion that "you two can have each other’s backs." I don’t know why, but with so many people in this world, why Jim? The alarm on my phone rang, and I got up, heading toward the elevator without waiting for Jim. However, Jim caught up, held my hand, and helped me with my heavy bag. We got out of the elevator, he headed to the car, and we drove off to school. "Geez! Can't you drive faster?" I snapped. If I only had the opportunity, I would be the one driving instead of sitting here watching a poor man drive me to school. It took him thirty minutes to reach the school campus. I alighted from the car and proceeded toward my class. Did I forget to mention ...I was kinda popular in school just because of my good looks and my rich background. I’m not that smart like Jim, I have to admit. A lot of students whispered to themselves as I passed through the hallway. The school bell rang, and it was time for history class. "f**k, I hate history. I wish I could skip," I muttered. I was already angry when I saw Jim running down the hallway. Unfortunately, he was also late for history class. I hate Mr. Jackson; he always complains as if I care. I guess I had no choice but to go to class. Jim led the way. We were both trying to sneak in, but we were caught by Mr. Jackson. "Both of you, halt! Who do we have here? Jim and Anna," he said. "Why are you late to my class?" We both froze immediately when he mentioned our names. I glared at Jim as he apologized nonstop. Mr. Jackson smiled at Jim and— glared at me. "Jim, go and take your seat. Mr, Jackson continue standing." I kept glaring at Jim with pure hatred. Our eyes met occasionally, and he had a look of pity on his face as if he actually cared. I stood there until the lesson was over. I bid Christ and Lizzy goodbye and rushed out of the classroom. I left campus without allowing Jim to drive me home; instead, I ordered a cab. When I got home, it was already past 5:00 PM. What a long day it had been for me. I met Annie serving a meal. "Good evening, Miss Anna!" she greeted me. I didn't respond to her greeting as I headed upstairs. I was so exhausted, but I washed up and slept. I woke up a few minutes later when I heard my dad's and Jim's voices. My tummy grumbled—I had forgotten to eat before sleeping off. I went downstairs and saw my parents chatting with Jim about my progress at school. They do that all the time, which is so annoying. "Yikes," I muttered. "Could you two leave me alone so I can at least enjoy my life?" Jim sighed, slowly pulling out my chair for me, but I glared at him. "Excuse me, I can sit without your help," I said arrogantly. My dad glared at me, signaling for me to behave, but I just rolled my eyes. I ate my food and left for my room to rest.
