9. Curious

Kalliste sat on a chair in front of her room. It's nine o'clock in the morning, and she has no job. She waited for the evening to prepare dinner for Viltarin. Usually, she assists other employees, but today no one required her assistance. Lilith says if she becomes Viltarin's personal chef, she will always go wherever Viltarin goes because Viltarin is a picky eater. He will not eat food that does not suit his taste. Every day, Viltarin was away on business and would return in the afternoon. Of course, Viltarin didn't have to bring Kalliste. Kalliste took a deep breath through her mouth. She clutched her cell phone. She had been working here for a week, and she had gotten no information about Viltarin. Kenric was waiting for her, and she was afraid that Kenric's patience would run out, then Kenric fired her. Kalliste shook her head until her head was dizzy. She didn't want her evil thoughts to come true. "What are you doing here? I'm afraid you're in a trance. You often daydream here." Gea, an omega with curly hair, patted Kalliste on the shoulder. Her room is next door to Kalliste. "I like sitting here." Kalliste smiled. This place was her favorite place to daydream and seek ideas for information on Viltarin's activities, but she never came up with one. She was at a loss for thought, and her wolf wouldn't help her. Irena said she would never respond to her if she talked about Kenric and her cover as a spy. "You are so weird." Gea sneered. "Alpha's house is always as quiet as a cemetery. Alpha needs a Luna, and they must have many children. I'm willing to take care of Alpha's children in the future." Gea chuckled after speaking. She tied up her hair and glanced at Kalliste, who didn't react. Kalliste's body froze. Even though she has denied the accusations of her two omega friends, they are still suspicious of her. Because they couldn't believe Alpha carried her to the room! Even Beta's reaction at that moment was just jaw-dropping. Kalliste will not allow herself to reveal the truth. She and Viltarin had agreed to keep quiet about their mate bond until Viltarin was sure he knew her. Actually, Kalliste is curious about why Viltarin keeps her distance from women. She could ask Beta, but for now, he could contain her curiosity. Everyone in the house knows about Viltarin keeping his distance from women. If Viltarin weren't like that, surely Viltarin would have announced Kalliste as his mate, and maybe they would have married. Then Kenric will reject her. Kalliste glanced at Gea, who re-entered her room. She didn't need to pay attention to their words that seemed to be baiting her to confess. When her phone vibrated, she was startled. When she saw who had sent her the message, she smiled, but her smile faded when she read it. Have you gotten any information yet? Kenric was impatient. Kalliste was confused about what to answer. She couldn't lie. After replying to Kenric's message, Kalliste stood up. She couldn't just wait. She had to do something to get the information. She sure can. She didn't want Kenric to be disappointed in her. "Where do you want to go?" An omega who just finished her job meets Kalliste in Viltarin's backyard. "I want to take a walk." Kalliste smiled. She wanted to go to Viltarin's house, but she was afraid that someone would see her, then rumors circulated again about her being Viltarin's mate. "You've been here a long time, and if you want to recognize this place, with Lilith's permission, you may walk around the pack. Have fun." The Omega patted Kalliste on the shoulder before heading to her room. Kalliste surveyed her surroundings. Walking around the pack sounded fun, but she was worried about getting lost because she had no one to accompany her. The Omega who worked at Viltarin's house was excellent, but after work, they went straight to their room; no one ever went anywhere. 'Irena, I know you're mad at me because I did all this to get information on Alpha Viltarin's activities. I have to approach him.' Kalliste hesitates to go to Viltarin's house. No warriors were guarding the house's backyard a few meters away from the omegas' house. 'I'm tired of saying how stupid you are.' 'I wasn't completely wrong. Alpha Viltarin is the same as Alpha Kenric. They never asked me into their workspace or did anything with me. Alpha Viltarin keeps her distance from women and me included.' 'At least Viltarin accepted you, unlike Kenric, who didn't accept you but didn't reject you, and he sent you here. He really is a cruel and selfish man.' Irena was eager to switch bodies with Kalliste to claw Kenric's face. 'I will approach Alpha Viltarin. I will use all means to get information from him.' Kalliste decided to walk beside Viltarin's house. She glanced at the living room, where the walls were made of glass so that she could see the state of Viltarin's house. Looks like Villarin isn't home yet. "Hi." Kalliste gasped in surprise and jumped backward. Her heartbeat stopped for two seconds. She stared at the twins of the opposite s*x, who had startled her. "You guys almost cost me my life." The twins laughed heartily. "Do you still remember our names?" The twins each stood next to Kalliste. "Of course. Nathan and Naomi." Kalliste glanced at Naomi, who linked her hand to her arm. Nathan and Naomi are twins and Osias' younger brother. They were the two wolves who had knocked Kalliste to the floor and who had made her know that Viltarin was really her mate. "Forgive our behavior last time. We won't do it again. We're afraid of Alpha." Naomi looked at Kalliste with puppy eyes. Kalliste frowned; Naomi was like a puppy. "We promised we wouldn't do it again. Usually, we welcome new omegas like that, but we didn't know if you were–" Kalliste quickly covered Nathan's mouth. It was dangerous if anyone heard Nathan's words. Kalliste removed her hand from Nathan's mouth and patted Nathan and Naomi's heads. "I have forgiven you. So you don't have to feel guilty. Please don't talk about this anymore." Nathan and Naomi looked at each other, and it was as if, through their eyes, they were communicating. Then they stood in front of Kalliste. "We promise not to do it again and not to talk about this again." Kalliste smiled faintly. Is it because they are twins, making them compact in every way? "Don't do it again. It's dangerous." "We realize." Kalliste glanced at the deserted Viltarin house. Viltarin is rarely at home; how can he approach Viltarin? "Earlier, you said you were afraid of Alpha. Did Alpha do something to you?" "Alpha scolded and advised us," said Naomi. "This is our first time getting scolded by Alpha." Nathan lowered his head. He is sad. "Alpha is scary when angry. We don't want Alpha to scold us again." Naomi's face shows sadness and regret. Kalliste didn't expect Viltarin to scold Naomi and Nathan. She was not injured, and her head is fine. Viltarin's assertiveness was extraordinary. "You come with us." Naomi pulled Kalliste's hand. Kalliste didn't refuse and let the twins take her away. She will be with the twins until Viltarin comes home. "This is our hideout." Naomi and Nathan showed Kalliste a tree house in the forest. Kalliste's jaw opened wide. Would they ask her to sit in their tree house? "Wow, what a nice tree house." "We talked there." Naomi forced Kalliste to go up. Meanwhile, Nathan had already climbed the stairs. "No. I don't want to. I want to be here." Kalliste sat on the ground and leaned against a tree. "Why? Are you afraid of heights?" Naomi guessed. "No. It's just that I want to sit here." Kalliste lied. She is a little afraid of heights. "We wanted to show our base, but if you want here, I will accompany you. Let's forget about Nathan playing his guitar." Naomi sat next to Kalliste. Kalliste looked up at the bright blue sky. She was contemplating finding a way to approach Viltarin. "Did you know about Alpha keeping his distance from women? Beta must have told you." Naomi said while drawing on the ground. "Yeah. Beta told me." "I feel sorry for Alpha. Many say Alpha's attitude is too much; they don't know anything." Kalliste scratched her head. She was confused; should she ask? "Of course, Alpha is suffering from not being able to spend time with her mate. Alpha is struggling. I asked you to wait." Naomi smiled broadly. Kalliste was stunned. Naomi's words sounded sincere. "Fighting from what?" "Fear." Naomi sighed. "I can't tell you. Maybe one day you'll find out from Alpha or Beta." Kalliste scratched her itchy forehead. Suspicious. Why did she become curious? She should be able to get close to Viltarin. She didn't want Kenric to be disappointed in her. "What does Alpha Viltarin like?" Kalliste was surprised to hear the words that came out of her mouth. What did she just say? Naomi smiled broadly, and her face shone with happiness. She tapped Kalliste on the shoulder. "I will support you. I'm sure with you approaching Alpha first, Alpha will slowly change." Kalliste forced her lips into a smile. "Do you know anything about Alpha Viltarin?" Kalliste had to pretend. She would not let her cover be blown. Naomi is happy because Kalliste will fight for their relationship. "Alpha likes to drink coffee with milk. Alpha only trusts Beta to make the drink." Kalliste gaped. Not just a picky eater, Alpha is also a picky drinker. Gosh. She couldn't believe it.
