1. Painful Decision
Why did they war? Can't they come to an agreement and divide the vacant land equally? Kalliste had no idea why Alpha Kenric and Alpha Viltarin took their warrior troops to the vacant lot that ten years ago was the territory of the Aquamarine Pack before all the werewolf packs destroyed it.
Kalliste knew they were after the underground gold and oil mines. Only the Topaz Pack and the Sapphire Pack have fought over the vacant lot in the last two years. Because the other packs had given up and realized that the war would only harm them, many of their warriors were killed.
Kalliste took a deep breath. Alpha Kenric and Alpha Viltarin didn't give up until they got to the vacant lot. Okay, okay, Kaliste is an omega. Her job was to cook in the kitchen, so she didn't have to think about war.
But she can't look away or pretend she doesn't care. Because this war always makes her heart feel like it's being pinched, and her legs are weak. Evil thoughts always haunt her. She felt scared, anxious, and worried. Sometimes she forgets to put salt in the tea, cursing her carelessness.
The painful moaning sound made her heart feel like a thousand needles were stabbing it. She bit her lower lip and gripped the alcohol bottle she was holding tightly. That voice made her want to cry, and if only the pain he was feeling could be channeled to her so that the pain would lessen.
The moaning of pain was replaced by laughter, and she could hear him praising the beauty of the doctor who treated his wound. Kalliste dropped her eyes to the cold white floor.
'Don't keep biting your lip. If you don't want your lips to hurt and bleed.' The voice of Irena, Kalliste's wolf, echoed in her head.
Kalliste let go of her teeth, biting her lip. Luckily Irena reminded her. She doesn't even remember how long she has been biting her lip, squeezing a bottle of alcohol, and standing in the dark like an i***t.
How many times has she let out a deep breath, but the tightness in her heart doesn't go away? Until she wanted to go outside for some fresh air, she didn't know if this tightness in her chest arose because she was standing there or because she saw the scenery over there?
'Irena.'
'I know. I feel it too. Even after a year had passed, he had not changed. I want to meet his wolf. I wonder, does the wolf think the same as him?' Irena was talking excitedly, and her yellow eyes glared sharply.
One year has passed. Kalliste pondered, she wanted to bite her lower lip, but she was afraid her lips would bleed. She hates blood because it reminds her of him, her Mate, who is currently chatting with the doctor. She is sure the wound has disappeared, and of course, he is no longer in pain, but he deliberately bought time so that he can talk to the doctor pack, who is famous for being the most beautiful in this pack. In fact, she often hears her mate regretting why the doctor wasn't his mate. He is very disappointed to have a mate like her who is not very beautiful; her body is not body goals, her hair is not straight, and what irritates him the most is that she is an omega.
She could have survived this one year. Every night she begged the Moon Goddess for her mate to accept her and wished that he would look her in the eye just once when he spoke to her. Is she not a great woman? She believes in the Moon Goddess and believes that if that day will come, the day her mate will acknowledge her. She always thought that miracles were real.
The pack doctor, who had a pretty face like an angel and a nurse, came out of Alpha Kenric's bedroom. They were fortunate to get into Alpha Kenric's bedroom. While she, who is his mate, never. Ah, not only do these two make her jealous, but she also envies the other women that Alpha Kenric brings to his bedroom almost every night. She even though all the shewolves in this pack had slept with Alpha Kenric. As for her? Alpha Kenric always stays away when he sees her; he seems disgusted with her. Isn't she his mate? The Moon Goddess destinies us to live together until death does us part.
Is being an omega a mistake? Isn't that a noble job? She makes food to please everyone. She loves it when someone says he likes her cooking or keeps eating it until his tummy swells with satiety.
Her eyes widened when she saw Alpha Kenric move his hand, signaling her to follow him. Her lips smiled broadly, following Kenric's fast pace. She was almost overwhelmed.
They stopped at the garden next to Alpha Kenric's mansion. The garden that only Alpha Kenric visited and became a place for them to talk, even if only for a moment. Although Alpha Kenric's always was threatening her not to tell anyone about them. Maybe she should be proud that Alpha Kenric only took her to this garden that became his favorite place.
A heavy sigh escaped from the nose of Kenric, who was standing in front of Kalliste two meters away. Kalliste could only see his back, which was wrapped in a white shirt. She never got tired of staring at that back, and she inhaled the scent of musk greedily. She could feel her heart beating really fast. It's okay if Alpha Kenric doesn't want to turn around and look at her. Standing close together like this was enough for her because this moment is very rare, which will only happen once or twice a month.
"Don't hide there anymore. What if someone sees you and suspects you?" Kenric's deep voice startled Kalliste. He always raised his voice when he spoke to Kalliste, but Kalliste was still surprised.
"I apologize," Kalliste murmurs. Those two words always come out of her throat. She lowered her head, and her heart was beating very fast, not from love, but from fear. She lifted her head slightly; Alpha Kenric didn't turn his body. He hates her too much.
Kenric argued with his wolf before turning to Kalliste. "I have a mission for you." He turned his head but didn't want to see Kalliste staring at him. "Alpha Viltarin from the Sapphire Pack is hiring for an omega who can cook to work at his home."
Kalliste frowned. She forced her brain to think hard. The mission for her and Alpha Viltarin opens a job vacancy for omega. Her eyes widened after understanding what Alpha Kenric's words meant. She was surprised that Alpha Kenric was watching her. It was the first time she'd seen those brown eyes.
"You mean I work there?" Kalliste said while trying to make sure her voice wasn't shaking.
"You are smart." Kenric snapped his fingers and tilted his lips. "I want you to work there and be my spy. You must report all of Viltarin's activities to me." He gave a paper to Kalliste. "That's my number. Send all the information you get to that number."
Kalliste lifted her face and tried to hold back the tears that welled up in her eyelids. "Why? Why did you make me work there, Alpha?"
Kenric put his hands into his trouser pockets and tilted his body, refusing to look at Kalliste again. 'You're going to regret it, Kenric. You're really going to regret it.' His wolf words kept echoing in his head, but he didn't care. "Because only you can do it." He shrugged. As if this was normal for him, and he believed that he could still live without a mate in his life because he was strong.
'Is he crazy?' Kalliste's wolf shouted; she was furious. 'He told you to work somewhere else. Doesn't he know that if you separate, we will all weaken? Me, you, Kenric, and his wolf. Does he realize what he has said?' Kalliste got dizzy hearing Irena's scream. Kalliste was also annoyed, but she did not dare to express her disapproval. She was too scared. She's very cowardly.
Kenric snorted because Kalliste took so long to answer him. "If I manage to destroy the Sapphire Pack, it means your mission is a success. I promise I will accept you and love you. We will get married after you return from the mission." Kenric smiled widely. Trying to convince Kalliste that he was telling the truth.
The first time Kalliste saw Kenric smile at her. A smile that made her stunned and her heart beat three times faster than usual.
"Are you serious, Alpha?" Kalliste looked into Kenric's eyes, which were looking straight at her. She seemed to be trapped in those eyes.
"Yes. I never break a promise I have made." Kenric nodded his head and made a serious face.
'Don't be crazy, Kalli!' Irena screamed furiously. 'We will suffer if you two separate!' Irena's screams made Kalliste's head spin, but it couldn't change Kalliste's doubts about Alpha Kenric. "Ok, Alpha. I can do it."
"Good girl," Kenric clapped once with a broad smile. Finally, he managed to convince Kalliste. He ignored his furious wolf voice and called him stupid. Then he left Kalliste, whose heart was pounding because she saw Kenric smile twice.
"You're crazy, Kalli. You two will regret it!" Irena was furious, but Kalliste didn't care. Anything Kalliste will do to get Alpha Kenric's recognition and love.
