Kalliste walked from the gate to the front door of Alpha Viltarin's house, which was about twenty meters away. Along the way, she saw shady trees, and in the middle of the front yard, there was a statue of a wolf with blue fur that looked cool in her eyes. She realized, while working at Alpha Kenric's house, she never took a vacation. She spent time in the house. The house she thought was comfortable even though Alpha Kenric was too lazy to look at her and ignored her presence. Kalliste was like a ghost he couldn't see. She grimaced.
Her wolf wouldn't talk to her. Irena is angry and strongly opposes her decision to accept the mission from Kenric. Works at Alpha Viltarin's house as omega and reports on all Alpha Viltarin activities. May her mission be successful, and Kalliste is sure Alpha Kenric will keep his promise.
She was worried too. She was afraid that the purpose of her work here would be exposed. Then Alpha Viltarin will imprison her, who is Alpha Kenric's spy.
She was confused too. How did she find out about all of Alpha Viltarin's activities? She works in the kitchen. Shouldn't she have applied for a job as a secretary or some other job that could keep her always beside Alpha Viltarin?
Oh, why is she so stupid?
Kalliste lowered her head. She had almost forgotten Alpha Kenric's words telling her to seduce Alpha Viltarin, who didn't have a mate, but could she seduce Alpha Viltarin? She's just an omega; her mate doesn't want to accept her; what about other men? She felt insecure.
If only Irena weren't mad at her right now. Surely Irena would scold her for not being confident. Irena always said if no one loves her, then she must love herself. She didn't know where Irena got such wise words from.
"Can I help you?" She was surprised to hear that firm voice, and she lifted her head to meet the eyes of the older woman standing in front of her with one eyebrow raised. "What is your purpose here? Why aren't any warriors escorting you?" The woman with partly white hair moved her head left and right to look for the whereabouts of the warrior guarding this house.
"I …" Kalliste's voice suddenly caught in her throat. She was very nervous. Sweat soaked the palms of her hands that gripped the bag strap tightly. She took a deep breath before saying her purpose in coming here. She threw away all the bad feelings and thoughts that made her want to return to Topaz Pack, regretting her decision. "I'd like to apply for a job here. I heard there's a job opening for an omega who can cook." She dared to look at the older woman who was judging her appearance from top to bottom. She tried to hide her nervousness by widening her smile.
The older woman stroked her chin, and her black eyes continued to stare at Kalliste. She argued with her own mind. Is it okay for her to accept the woman in front of her? "Which pack are you from? Where did you work before?" The woman asked with wide eyes. Creepy, like a police officer who is interrogating the perpetrator to open their mouth.
"I'm from the Sapphire Pack. Previously I worked at house's Elders Jonathan." Kalliste tried to make her face look calm. She is not lying. But she worked at Elders Jonathan's for about a year before working at Alpha Kenric's.
"Did you bring your curriculum vitae?" The older woman stretched out her hand, and Kalliste hastily took the paper Kenric had given her. After she agreed to the mission that Kenric gave her, Kenric immediately made personal data about Kalliste as complete as possible. Kenric threatens Kalliste not to tell anyone that she works at his house.
The older woman read Kalliste's curriculum vitae carefully, seen from her knitted brows. She nodded her head, then looked at Kalliste. "It's not easy working here." Her voice startled Kalliste, who feared that her purpose of working here would be revealed. "Our Alpha doesn't care about you and omega who come here from which pack; the most important thing is that you can cook."
Kalliste nodded in understanding. She took her to the kitchen. Alpha Viltarin's house is more extensive than Alpha Kenric's house. At first glance, she saw three expensive jars and an abstract painting that was just a mix of colors in the living room. While Alpha Kenric's house feels empty, like a house in general, which consists of a sofa, table, chandelier, and so on, there are no unique objects that are expensive. It seems that Alpha Viltarin likes to collect jars and paintings because she also saw those two things in front of a room guarded by four warriors; Kalliste guessed it must be Alpha Viltarin's workspace.
"Put your bag over there." The older woman pointed to the corner of the room near the refrigerator. Kalliste obeyed. Then she explores the spacious kitchen and complete cooking utensils. She thinks she will feel comfortable working here. Don't let her forget the purpose of applying for a job here!
The older woman took a chicken breast and a piece of beef from the refrigerator and placed them on the table. She looked at Kalliste. "Oh, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Lilith. I'm the head omega of this house."
Kalliste couldn't get over her nervousness at all.
"Okay, Kalli." Lilith pointed to the chicken and beef in the white bowl. "Alpha Viltarin will be the one to judge your cooking. Omega, who used to make food for him, died a week ago. None of the omega dishes here are to his liking. Therefore, he opens job vacancies for all omegas or werewolves from other packs, which are smart cooks."
Suddenly Lilith stood behind Kalliste and gently pushed Kalliste's body in front of the stove. "It just so happens that Alpha Viltarin will be home soon. He really likes chicken and beef. He doesn't like things that are too spicy, too sweet and too salty. He also likes meat at 70 percent maturity level." Lilith explained slowly so that Kalliste would understand.
Kalliste dropped her jaw. Her head was suddenly dizzy. How does she make meat that is 70 percent maturity level?!
"If you succeed. You will always follow him everywhere. Because when he travels, he doesn't want to eat in restaurants. He doesn't fit in with restaurant food at all." Lilith patted her shoulder. "Good luck!" Then she left Kalliste, who stared at the chicken and beef.
Kalliste took a deep breath to calm her racing heart. She can't give up! She must always remember the purpose for which she applied for the job in this house!
Kalliste immediately processed the chicken breast and a piece of beef. She tried her best. Not too spicy, not too sweet, not too salty, and 70 percent maturity level. She did it casually. Even though her hands are shaking a little and her legs feel weak. Lilith said if she succeeds, she will be taken wherever Alpha Viltarin goes. That made her really excited. In that case, she would easily report all of Alpha Viltarin's activities to Alpha Kenric. But she is not confident and scared; what if she fails?
Why didn't she ask Lilith? If she fails, will she be kicked out of this house? They're just looking for omegas that can make dishes that suit Alpha Viltarin's taste buds, right?
Kalliste shook her head so hard she felt dizzy. She was standing in front of the oven, waiting for the beef to be roasted there. Ok, get rid of all the bad thoughts. She has to believe in herself!
Her heart skipped a beat as she smelled the woody scent dancing in her nose. Her body stiffens. Was she wrong? 'Irene.'
'I also smell this scent. This fragrance declares that he is our mate.'
Kalliste gasped. How could that be? 'We have another mate? No, no, I mean, we have two mates? Then what about Alpha Kenric?' She is restless. This fragrance is getting thicker. Looks like the werewolf is heading this way. Is he looking for her?
'I don't know.' Kalliste's wolf shook her head; she was also confused.
"How about it, Kalli? Are you done?"
Kalliste jumped in surprise at Lilith's firm voice.
"A moment." Kalliste saw the beef, which seemed to be almost done. Is this the so-called 70 percent maturity level? Yeah, maybe. She took the pan out of the oven. Then put the roast beef on a white plate. Her heart doesn't stop beating fast because of this fragrant smell. Who owns this intoxicating fragrance?
Kalliste put plates of chicken thighs and beef onto the tray. Then she turned around and looked at Lilith, who told her to follow her. She said Alpha Viltarin was waiting in the dining room. She walked very carefully, afraid of the tray falling because her hands were still shaking and her legs were weak.
Lilith took the tray that Kalliste was holding and placed it in front of Alpha Viltarin, who was glaring at her. Kalliste raised her eyebrows in confusion. Two seconds later she realized there was no one in this room other than her, Alpha Viltarin, and Lilith. So, does this fragrant musk scent come from Alpha Viltarin? Seeing Alpha Viltarin's reaction, it seemed right.
Viltarin's body stiffened. Is his sense of smell wrong?
Kalliste lowered her head as Alpha Viltarin didn't stop glaring at her. How could she have two mates? Is her sense of smell wrong? Is it possible that Alpha Viltarin really likes to stare at other people sharply as if to kill her?
