12. Effort

Viltarin wishes to improve himself. He will show that he is capable of change. Even though he can't seem to get the bad memories out of his head, he is determined to change. He didn't want to feel awkward around Kalliste. He, like the others, is happy with his mate.

Many women pursued Viltarin all this time. Many women want to melt his heart and be loved by him. Viltarin doesn't care about them because he doesn't like them, and he doesn't think he has the right to love them back.

However, Kalliste was different from them. Kalliste is his mate. He had always felt uncomfortable with women approaching him and seeking his attention, but he didn't feel that way when Kalliste was around. He just felt nervous and awkward. His heart pounded.

Even though Kalliste approaches him first, Viltarin feels that Kalliste is not like other women who seduce him to get love from him. Kalliste didn't tease him; she just did what she could.

Viltarin doesn't understand Kalliste's goal to make coffee for him and give him a massage because Viltarin doesn't see a feeling of love in Kalliste's eyes or face. Unlike other women whose face lit up and eyes filled with love when they saw him.

Viltarin watched Kalliste who was putting down a plate of beef which was his breakfast. He glanced at Osias, who was secretly looking back at him. Beta always advises him not to be too ignorant and cold to Kalliste.

"Have you eaten?" Viltarin said quietly. He hoped that no one but Kalliste and Osias would hear him.

Kalliste was surprised when Viltarin's husky voice reached his ears. She stared at Viltarin in disbelief. "Sorry. What did you say, Alpha?"

Viltarin held back his annoyance. He needed the courage to say it, but Kalliste didn't listen. He glared at Osias, who was holding back a laugh. "Thank you for the food."

Osias chuckled. "I heard what Alpha said. Alpha didn't say that. Didn't Alpha ask Kalliste a question?" Osias smiled with satisfaction seeing Viltarin, who gave him a death stare. Osias was pleased to see the blushing Alpha.

Kalliste looked at Viltarin and Osias. Due to his nervousness, she didn't hear Viltarin's words. Is Beta just teasing Alpha?

Viltarin took a sip of his drink. Osias is so annoying. He felt like he wanted to stuff Osias' mouth with a tissue. He glanced at Kalliste, who still hadn't gone into the kitchen. Did Kalliste believe Osias' words?

"Tell her the truth, Alpha. Don't be shy. I'll make sure only I hear it." Osias likes to tease Viltarin.

Viltarin kicked Osias in the leg, and Osias' reaction was just laughter. He hesitantly looked at Kalliste. His heart pounded like a drum. He was lazy to repeat words, but he was even more lazy to hear Osias, who wouldn't stop teasing him. "Have you eaten?" Finally, he could say it fluently.

Kallista's eyes widened. She was surprised. She didn't expect Viltarin to care about her. She glanced the other way to make sure no omega heard their conversation. Standing here for too long has also made her friends suspicious.

"After this, I will eat, Alpha. Thanks for caring about me." Kalliste lowered her head. Just like when she was with Kenric, she didn't dare make eye contact with Viltarin either.

Viltarin nodded his head. "Do not forget to eat." He glared. What did he just say? Viltarin clears his throat. He hoped that Kalliste would not hear about it again.

"Thanks for reminding me, Alpha." Kalliste smiled. She had to hurry back to the kitchen. She didn't want the rumors about her and Viltarin to become the topic of conversation for the omegas again. "Excuse me, Alpha. I want to go back to the kitchen." Kalliste slightly bent her back.

Viltarin goes into shock. It turned out that Kalliste heard his words. He cut the meat with slightly trembling hands. He had done something embarrassing that he had never done before.

It was hard for Osias to hold back his laughter. Alpha is so adorable when he's blushing. He had never seen Alpha blush before. But he is happy to see the development of Alpha and Luna's relationship. Hopefully Luna can pull Alpha out of the darkness that ensnared him for several years.

'Why are you shy? You've done a good thing. You show your concern for her.' Ryu gave his appreciation to Viltarin for daring to express what he was thinking to Kalliste.

'I unknowingly said it. I'm ashamed.' Viltarin chewed his food. His eyes widen. Kalliste's ability to make his favorite food has increased. He was happy because Kalliste proved that she kept trying to make food according to his taste.

'You don't doubt her anymore. It's been proven that she did it all because she loves you. If you mind Kalliste's facial expressions, maybe she can hide her face well.' Ryu always speaks positively about Kalliste so that Viltarin doesn't change his mind and give up.

'I just want to protect myself. I don't want to trust other people too much, especially women.' Viltarin will not let the memories that hurt him come back to haunt his mind. He would hold and lock it even though it was hard to do.

Ryu took a deep breath. If only he could erase memories.

Kalliste is eating with the omegas. The longer she got closer to them and she was not alone anymore. However, Kalliste didn't want to get too close to them. When gathered, she chose to be silent and laugh if they were joking. because she was afraid of accidentally saying that Viltarin was her mate. Because they often talk about Alpha who hasn't found his mate yet.

During these few days Kalliste never forgot to make coffee for Viltarin and sometimes she also gave Alpha a massage. The omegas didn't ask what she was doing in the Viltarin room but the look in their eyes always showed that they were curious.

Kalliste managed to get hold of some information on Viltarin's activities and she informed Kenric. She didn't know whether the information she got was important or not. Most importantly she can prove to Kenric that she can be counted on.

"Time to make coffee for Alpha." Kalliste took the glass and spoon. According to Viltarin, her coffee is 90 percent similar to Osias's coffee. She was happy that her efforts were not in vain. She had to do everything perfectly to attract Viltarin's attention and she had to act really well so that Viltarin wouldn't suspect her.

'I will remind you again. You better forget about Kenric. He's just using you and I'm sure he won't keep his word.' Irena always prays to the Moon Goddess so that Kalliste moves on from Kenric and learns to love Viltarin.

'I will not forget my answer and you know better how I feel.' Kalliste rolled her eyes. Her wolf always asked her to forget about Kenric. The more Irena told her, the more she couldn't erase Kenric from her mind and heart.

'You will regret.' Irena clicks her tongue. She felt like she wanted to hit Kalliste on the head, if that was the only way to wake up Kalliste. 'I will also say this a second time. During the past few days you have often been with Viltarin. Maybe you can't move on from Kenric, but you should think about Viltarin's feelings. Sooner or later, he will love you.'

Kalliste looked at the coffee's Viltarin she had finished making. Actually she was worried about Irena's words. She was afraid that Viltarin loved her and that it would not be easy for her to leave this house.

If one day Viltarin tagged her, she didn't know how to refuse. If Viltarin had tagged her, what about Kenric? She has to reject Viltarin so she can be with Kenric. She only loved Kenric and she only wanted Kenric as her mate.

Irena sighed sharply. She didn't know why Kalliste turned into a stupid woman just because of love.

Kalliste slowly walked to the Viltarin's workspace. She was holding a tray filled with a cup of coffee. She was able to contain his nervousness when he was with Viltarin. But sometimes Viltarin's scent and Alpha's aura made her shudder.

A warrior standing guard at the door helped open the door. Kalliste smiled politely at Osias who was having a serious discussion with Viltarin. Kalliste put the coffee on the sofa table.

"I'm sad I can't make Alpha coffee anymore." Osias chuckled. "But I'm happy because now it's Luna who is making coffee for Alpha."

Kalliste smiled shyly.

Viltarin glanced at Kalliste. "Thank you." He didn't like that Kalliste smiled at Osias. He never saw Kalliste smile at him.

"Does Luna already know that we're going to ask her to go with us?" Asked Osias.

Viltarin shook his head. Then he turned to the curious Kalliste. "We're going to the Aquamarine Pack. I'm taking you because I need you to make me some food and coffee."

Osias's jaw dropped and his eyes couldn't blink. What did Alpha just say? "Alpha, you can't say that. It's a hurtful line. Why did you say you needed her?"

"Did I lie? The reason I invited her was because of that." Viltarin frowned.

Viltarin and Osias did not notice Kalliste's pale, corpse-like face. She seemed to have lost her soul.
