17 Returning to Manhattan from JFK Airport took less time than the journey there. Traffic on the roads had diminished by this late hour and there were no longer any traffic jams. We arrived back in the city quickly and without hassle. From the airport, Cindy drove us down Conduit Avenue until we reached Fulton Street, which cuts across Brooklyn, and then we headed west. At the intersection with Lafayette Street we had to negotiate an intricate series of exits and on-ramps to reach the highway over the Brooklyn Bridge. From the bridge we had a vast view of Manhattan, though at night it was not as attractive and energetic as it had been during the day or evening.
