Calas POV We had her. If it weren’t for those beasts coming out of nowhere, I would be turning her over to King Malos right about now. I hit the princess with the back of my scythe when the black and white beasts attacked. The black one tore a chunk out of my left leg, and the white one bit my left hand making me drop my scythe and the princess. I barely caught my scythe before I turned and ran like the other two. I caught up to the other two. “What were those beasts?” Brun asked. “I don’t know.” Lavis replied. “They make me think of wolves like me, but more vicious.
