Richard rose earlier than usual this morning, having set his alarm for a half hour before sunrise. He would be skipping his routine morning coffee with Fritz, which he would explain later in the day. He decided that he would start this day with a long overdue visit with Grandpa.
Only Fritz dared call Jim Tate Grandpa to his face. The rest of the team affably called him Chief. He was Captain Federer"s liaison with the team and, together with Fritz, was their main connection to the Montagnard mountain dwellers. He reported to Fred daily and kept a short-wave radio in his cabin for emergencies. He met with the team as needed, but remained at the Nest other than to go out hunting with the Warriors.
