It had been a week since Elijah had left, his presence around the house was definitely missed by the pack, everyone seemed down but excited for his return, the pups painted banners in the nursery to decorate the pack house for next week as they were planning on welcoming him home. I still had not been to Elijah’s office to retrieve my present. So I decided to go and grab Beth so that she could come with me, knowing that we are not permitted on any higher floors I thought she would be best to come up with a quick exit strategy if we got in trouble, I know he said I had his permission, but he wasn’t here, and Shane did not seem very fond of me as it is.
I ran to her bedroom and swung her door open, without knocking. I found her asleep, hair all over, quilt on the floor, drooling all over her pillow as she lay on her side. I chucked my hand over my mouth to stop me laughing. It was noon and she was snoring like she was in hibernation! I picked up a pillow from the floor and launched it at her face. She jumped up in shock, growling aggressively as her eyes darted around her room looking for the danger, until her eyes locked on mine to which she sunk back into bed with a moan. “Get up. I need your help” I ran to her side and started tugging her arms to get her out of bed.
“Go away… ask Cameron he’s always up before me” she mumbled while putting all her weight against me to try and flop back down into bed.
“Elizabeth Turner!” she swung her legs round so that she was now sitting on the side of her bed looking at me with nothing but hate. “You do know it’s like, lunch time” I scoffed in disbelief that she could still be sleeping.
“Is that meant to shock me or something?” she raised an eyebrow as she grabbed a bobble from her bed side table and pulled her hair into a messy bun.
“Well it’s certainly meant to do something. So come on we need to go” I walked out the room hoping she would be close behind but all I could hear was her moaning, I stood and waited until she appeared then turned and carried on towards the stairs.
I only managed to take two steps up before Beth grabbed my arm and yanked me back to the ground floor, her eyes darting everywhere in panic looking to see if anyone saw me, before her eyes locked on mine “are you crazy?! Do you want to get banished from this pack too???” I laughed and grabbed her arm to release her grip from me.
“Chill will you! Elijah said he got me a present but left it in his office. I didn’t really have the nerve to go up before, but curiosity got the best of me today and I just need your help in case I get told off” I shrugged and turned to go back up the stairs, until I was grabbed again and pulled back down.
“Even if he did get you a present, we are not allowed up stairs never mind into his office! Why don’t you just wait for him to get back?” she was looking at me dead in the eye as I could see fear in her expression.
“He gave me permission! He told Shane as well so we should be ok, come on! Don’t you want to see what’s up there?” I winked and tugged her hand as she hesitated and pulled a face as if she was about to be sick.
We got to the doors of Elijah’s office as I nocked gently, in case someone else was in there. We heard nothing so I continued to open the door and walk into the large room which only last week I wanted to forget all about. I took this time to get a better look around as no one was there to watch me; Beth sat on a seat and dared not to move in case someone caught us. The full left side of the room was covered in a huge book case on the wall full with different sized books; in front of the bookcase was a comfortable looking black couch. The main wall as you walked in had an exquisite, seventeenth century fire place, in front of it sat a Black desk, which was now brand new as the pieces that Elijah had snapped off were now missing. It had been replaced in his absence but looked as though everything had been placed back into the precise spot that they were in a week ago.
I walked around the desk to see a small circular, green-velvet jewellery box, the size of my palm. Next to it was a hand written note in perfect cursive. It said;
Eleanor,
This necklace once belonged to your grandmother; I thought it would only be right to return it to you. It has been passed down through many generations of your family. I had the chain altered so that it would fit you perfectly.
Happy Birthday
Elijah Cleary

I stared at the note for what seemed like forever, not knowing of what to make of this new information. A necklace? Passed on through my family? Why did my mother not have it? I know this used to be her pack from what Emmett had told me at the party. I moved my attention to the box and opened it slowly. My hand covered my mouth as tears pricked in my eyes causing Beth to jump out of her seat and stand next to me in a heartbeat. We both looked at the necklace and couldn’t believe how beautiful it was. It was a sapphire and diamond pendant; the sapphire was oval in the centre of twelve round diamonds set on a 18k white gold bail and cable chain. I pulled out the necklace from the box as Beth helped me put it on. It was stunning. I couldn’t wait to thank Elijah when he returned. He was right about the necklace. It was the perfect length and style.
Me and Beth left the office with the note and box as we made our way down the stairs to the main foyer. There were eight she wolves around sobbing and clutching on to a piece of paper, me and Beth looked at each other not knowing what was going on until Shane walked over to me and handed me an envelope with my name printed on the front along with the Blue Moon Pack house address on. I looked at the envelope blankly as Shane looked down “I’m so sorry.” Not quite gathering what was going on I looked at him and frowned before turning the envelope over. s**t. It was sealed with the stamp from the Crimson Shadow Pack, my heart stopped.
