The next morning, I woke up in bed alone. Walking out to the main room, I see Alex sitting on the couch messing with his phone. “Good morning,” I say to him with a smile. He just nods. I go to Kayla’s room to wake her. Then I start cooking breakfast. It doesn’t take long before everything is ready. Kayla sits at the table, and I go to tell Alex everything is on the table. Walking into the main room, I see Alex putting on his coat. “Breakfast is ready,” I say to him in a quiet voice. “I’m not hungry. I’m going for a walk; I’ll be back later.” Alex walks out of the door. I feel small suddenly. Why is Alex upset, and why is he keeping it from me?
