Chapter 28

NIKUMI’S POINT OF VIEW

The smell of medicine is hypnotizing. And right after I taste it made me want for more. I drank it all but I have a different feeling I’m wanting more.

“Delicious. It’s tasty and I more.” I said. I can’t see any more drop left in the cup but I have this crazy feeling that is asking for more. I licked my lips but my mouth is watering and my stomach is craving for more.

“You can’t have more. That is your only medicine and that the only one I can give you.” She said and she started to walk towards the door.

My desire for the taste of it is getting stronger. I feel thirsty every second. My throat feels so empty and dry and my body is getting weaker. I started to lay down on the floor and my body is aching. Every single part of my body is aching and protesting.

“Juvia-san!” I yelled between my fading breath. “Please help me.” I said. She just looked at me and opened the door. She’s now outside but I’m still looking at the close door and waiting for someone to help me here. I can’t stand and my body is getting weaker and painful.

I’m so hungry and thirsty. I don’t understand but I want to eat and rink something. I’m craving on the unknown reason and my tongue is looking for something to satisfy it. I started to scream and I can’t control my own body. My body is not responding to what my brain wants.

I managed to stand up despite the painful feeling inside my body. I can walk and i can even walk faster than a normal human. I feel like my teeth are growing and at the back of my mind is I’m afraid. The pain in my body is starting to fade and I can feel a strong power within me.

I pushed the window but it broke down even though my real intention is to slowly open it. I tried to climb the window but my jump is ten times the normal. I’m getting scared of myself because it doesn’t making any sense to me. I don’t know I don’t understand. I jump off the window like what Edward did earlier.

All I know is I need to eat and drink, I need to satisfy my cravings so can stop this unusual behaviour.

THIRD PERSON’S POV

Nikumi was like a stray dog walking in the middle of the night in the village. She’s barefooted and drooling and walking while looking for something to eat. The new moon is really bright tonight and night is so quite. Her kimono are now dirty because it’s too long and it’s touching the ground. Her nails are now longer than the usual and she starting to have claw like how her fangs are growing. Along with her memories as human, her physical attributes are now changing into a being that she never wanted to be.

She is salivating and her body wants to feast, her throat ant to drink something and her teeth ant to bite some flesh but her mind is contradicting it. She is slowly walking now unlike before because she wanted t take control of her own body.

ON the other hand, Nikumi is being watch by several people including Nao Yaiba, Juvia and Edward behind the shadows. Nao is not aware that Edward met Nikumi in secret and Juvia is afraid to let him know so she kept it a secret. She just need to avoid No’s eyes every time they are facing each other so that he can’t read mind. Edward despite of being a demon has a different conviction. He did go through the same situation like what Nikumi is having right at this moment that he is following her behind the shadows. Edward wanted to prevent it to happen. He was able to witness every single human in the mansion turned into demon and go through the same. All humans that have brought in is turning into demon and he can’t stand it. He is one strong demon but he is nothing compare to the Demon lord, Nao Yaiba.

He wanted to help them including Juvia wen this happened to her but he can’t. He cant fight the demon lord yet and now another one has been suffering and he can’t even do something to stop it from happening. Nikumi is different from the others. For him It was like a dream to have met a human that is beautiful and mesmerizing than anyone else. A human that give him a dream o become a human again.

Nikumi was like a conscience that was sent to him that day. When he meets her three days ago he knew that he would not harm her even though her sweet blood reeks to his nose wanting to have taste of it.

As he is staring at her now while walking side by side, hiding himself from her sight, he was still being hypnotized by her beauty. He paused and stared at her again when she stopped walking but in just a snap Nikumi disappeared right before his eyes. He blink his eyes again but he is not in the place anymore.

“Shit.” He whispered and when he is about to go and trace her someone poke him from behind.

“Ed-Edward-san. Help.. Help me.” Nikumi said holing his wrist tightly while her hands are trembling in hunger.

“How did you—” He paused in amazement. She is really fast and her movement are like flashes. He concluded that it might be the ability she acquired after drinking Nao’s blood. “So fast.” He whispered.

Nikumi drop on the ground while drooling. Edward immediately cling on to her and put her arms on is shoulder so she can stand.

“Thirsty. Thirsty. Thirsty. Thirsty. “ Nikumi repeatedly whispered.

“Hold on.” He said and he carried her on his back. He inspect the area first to make sure that Nao and Juvia can’t trace them.

He jump over the wall of the village to the forest as fast as he could. He run towards the inner part of the forest while Nikumi is on his back and keep on saying that she is thirsty. When they reach the southern part of the forest, Edward opened the door of his secret hide out. It’s under the ground and the door is covered with grass and soil so he can hide. Every time he has a free time and Nao do not need anything from him he stays here. He immediately closed the entrance lit the torches.

He put her down on a Bed and he prepared an animal’s blood. He wasn’t sure if Nikumi will drink it since animal’s blood are not same with human blood. It smells awful and it taste a bit bitter.

Human bloods are delicious for demon like them but Edward is used to drink Animal’s blood ever since he realized that what demons doing are not right. H started to drink it several years ago when he realize what he wanted to do but to prevent Nao n knowing what he is doing he needs to drink human blood before facing now because he will definitely smell the scent of animal’s blood. Edward also stop drinking human blood and devouring human since then but sometimes he doesn’t choice if Nao is around he needs to kill in order to stay alive. Nao’s word is absolute. What he can only do is hide if he wasn’t given an order so he can escape on the smell of the humans blood. And whenever Nao needs him he will drink a human blood to cover up the sent of the animals blood but he didn’t kill for that. He used to buy blood bags in clinics and hospitals and store in his hideout. He has this refrigerator that the only purpose is for storing the blood in bags.

He poured some blood in a glass while staring at the weak young lady laying on the bed, drooling and thirsty. He assisted her to sit so she can drink.

“Nikumi-chan you need to drink this.” He sad putting the lass of blood beside Nikumi. She immediately grab the glass and drink it, bottoms up.

Nikumi regained energy in an instant but she doesn’t seem to like the taste of the blood she just drink. Her awful reaction was all over her face she was about to puke but she tried hard not to. All he wanted was to ease her thirst.

“That’s disgusting.” She commented. Edward smile because of her reaction and he put away the empty glass.

“Don’t be picky, beautiful demon. You don’ have a choice.” He commented and pulls a chair, sit down and faced her.

“What happened to me ?” Nikumi asked in curiosity.

Edward was amazed because she did aske about what is going on. That’s the first time that he encountered a transition on a human to demon that still has a normal thinking. Usually, once a human turned into demon all the memories and control of the mind is lost and a newly transformed demon will run into havoc to devour a human. In Nikumi’s case she manage to at least stay conscious of her actions and feeling. She was totally gained control of her own mind and body.
