HATORI’S POV
I tried to stand up when I felt the cold breeze of air brushing on my face. My nose sniffed familiar so I immediately got up and it down. I’m on a blanket now, no, it’s Onii-san’s cape. I looked at my right, the axe is beside me and Akuma is lying beside it and he is now in his dog form. He is sleeping on the cloth as well. It’s already dark.
“You’re awake.” A familiar voice said from behind. He is leaning on the tree behind me, his arms crossed in front of him and his eyes are closed.
“Onii-san, what happened?” I asked. He did not utter a word but walk closer to me and hand me a piece of paper. “What is this?” I asked. I stand up and put Akuma on my shoulder. Onii-san pick up his coat and put it back on his shoulder. “Thank you.” I said pertaining to the cap who gave me warmth a while ago.
“If you want to become a demon slayer find that man.” He pointed the piece of paper am holding. “Not all people will believe you when they found out that you’re traveling with a demon and your journey will be hard from now on so you need to get strong not for defending the demon but proving to all people that your convicton is right.” I nodded. He did not smiled but he patted my head. “You can mention my name when you found the man in the paper, My name is Soma Hatake.”
“Thank you, Soma-niisan.” I said and smiled at him. “I will be stronger like you and become a demon slayer like you, I promise. Well, see you around.”
“Go now. This place is safe now and I can guarantee that no demon will come after you from here.” He said. He smiled and vanished in the air in an instant. I smiled as I waved my hand even though he's gone now. I looked at the paper.
Water blade camp training master, Ushio Rosuke.
*The next Day*
It’s too dark and cold and were still walking. We are able to get pass through the mountains and village and now we are in the middle of a wide rice field heading west to find the man written on the paper that Soma-niisan gave me. Akuma is still asleep but he quite heavy since he is not a normal dog. I can’t help my self to feel paranoid and I’s worrying that we might encounter some demons while on the road. Aside from we are in the mountains anymore which Soma-niisan said that is safe, we are now in the middle of a dark road with no houses nearby and the air is thin.
My breath is like freezing every time I exhale. My lungs are getting heavier and I’m starting to smell unnecessary scent and keeps coming to our direction.
“Akuma, wake up.” I poked him o the head a few times before he actually open his eyes.
“What’s your problem, brat?” He said annoyed and yawned afterwards.
“Shut up, Gramps. How dare you sleep on me while we are on journey? I regret to bring you along, stupid demon.” I argued.
“What did you ay stupid brat?” he yelled at me.
“Shhhh!!” I hushed, my fingers on my lips. “You’re to loud, idiot.” I tried listening to my surrounding and listen to the wind but I can’t hear or sense anything.
“What’s your problem, brat? Let’s go.” He said on his usual loud voice.
“Keep it down, i***t. I think something is after us. Can’t you feel anything?!” I asked as I continued walking but my steps ae slowing down. My nose started to smell a stronger scent compared earlier. It’s disgusting and reeks of human blood. I can smell an evil intention and hunger. “It’s not you, aren’t you?” I stopped and look at Akuma.
“What?!” he is yelling again. “What the hell are you talking about?” He asked clueless. I shifted my gaze on the road again thinking that it wasn’t Akuma. I just need to make sure since he is complaining earlier this afternoon that he is hungry and haven’t eaten anything for years.
“I can something disgusting nearby, Gramps! I think there are some demons after us.” I said. He just laughed at me and he pats my head treating like a small kid.
“What a stupid brat. They are not after us but they are after you. I’m not human! You are!” and he started to laugh again. I don’t why I can’t just abandon him even though he annoys me, he’s always loud and a nagger.
“I know! I know, Gramps.” I said in defeat. I will never won when it comes to arguments like this so better yet agree with him.
We waited or a couple of minutes if the demons around us will attack us but it’s been more than ten minutes now and they’re not still showing up before us. I pulled out my axe and prepared myself in case they will attack. Akuma suddenly growled and his demon form took over. He is now standing behind me. Both of us is ready for whatever will happen.
I heard some loud groans and unnecessary noises getting closer to our direction. The grass on the road strongly swayed by the wind and the owner of the nasty scent showed up in front of me. There were two of them, the other is in front of Akuma. It’s a demon with dark blue skin, It’s teeth are pointed and looks like sharper than the blade of my axe, It’s eyes re red as blood and the spiky hair are pointed like needles. It’s saliva is dropping on the ground and looking straight at me. It looks like a human since it has both hands and feet, wearing loincloth but barely chest naked. I can see it’s veins in it’s skin pumping it’s scary ace is smiling at me. It’s unusually bigger than Akuma and their body are stinky. I gulped in nervousness, I am totally scared. Akuma is not scary for me. He’s pointed teeth and fangs are fine with me and he looks i***t when he is salivating. But he is more like a huge yellow tiger with black stripes on his wrist ad ankles. His orange hair is longer than a lions hair and his size is five times bigger that mine. Akuma’s eyes are plain white, he doesn’t even have clothes or anything just his fur. He looks more idiotic when he yells and argue with me and I can’t feel any danger of harm from Akuma.
