Jayden's POV
I walked in slowly to where the meeting of the elders was being held, they had called me to reprimand me for my actions at the alpha council. Immediately I showed at the entrance of the hall,Carl rushed to meet me and the elders all stood up in reference as I walked into the seat prepared for me.
“Good morning Alpha!” They all greeted each other in unison.
“Good morning to you, too , great elders of BloodFang Pack.” I said boldly. “You may have your seat.” I offered.
They thanked me for the gesture,I motioned to Carl and he brought out the list of their petitions. I took it from him and scanned through,I could hear their whispering as I tossed each of the files on the floor.
“Anything else?” I asked , suddenly feeling uncomfortable.
My wolf suddenly appeared in my mind, tugging me to go see our mate who was still battling with her life in the hospital but I had to calm him down. I needed to take care of the matters of these troublesome old folks.
“I thought adults like you were really busy.” I began. “I know it's clear that you don't like me or want me as your Alpha because I don't take nonsense from you…” I said and they became quiet.
“But i need to make something clear to you, you all don't have a say in my personal life you can do that with the pack affairs but not with my life. Thus will be the last time I'm going to warn you about planning to choose a mate for me or meddling in my business.” I said and stood up.
“Do I make myself clear?” I used my Alpha tone.
“Yes Alpha.” They chorused.
“Good.” I said and walked out.
I caught a glimpse of Carl running to catch up with my pace as I was going. Soon he joined me and the first thing he did was that he bursted into laughter.
“You needed to see the look on their faces Jayden.”
“You really are a ruthless person Jayden, that's no way to talk to the elders of the pack.” He said while still laughing.
Carl was about to go inside my car so he could drive and I stopped walking. He paused his actions and looked at me and blinked in confusion.
“I'm not going to the office.” I told him.
“Um . then?”
“To the pack hospital.” I answered and snatched the key from him.
“Are you really going to keep seeing that rogue!” He yelled after me as I entered and zoomed off.
The only thing in mind as I drove to the hospital was her,I wanted her to wake up so badly. I needed to know what happened, who hurt her like that, what pack was she from.
There was so many questions running through my head, it had been up to a week and now and she hasn't shown any sign of waking up,I even sent some of my men to check around the borders and where we found her,in case her parents or relatives were in search of her but we got nothing.
“Alpha.” Detrex came running to where I was.
“I need to see her, “ I simply stated.
“This way.” He nodded and led the way.
I was surprised that she had been transferred to another room, the tubes that were attached to her body weren't that much like before.
“What happened?” I turned to him for an explanation.
“She improved drastically this morning,if her healing process continues at this rate she should be awake very soon.” He explained and I nodded.
“I will take my leave now.” He excused himself.
I pulled a chair to sit close to her bed,I sighed as I watched and counted every breath she took. My hands roamed around her body and finally landed on her hands which were still bandaged.
“You need to get back to your fate mate.” I whispered as I touched her hand gently.
“What took you so long to show up?” I guessed it was the first question that I was going to ask her when she woke up.
After all these years, why didn't she show up? I almost searched to the end of the earth just to meet with my own fated mates but to no avail.
But here she was fine fighting for every breath she took.
“But I'm glad you are here,we have a lot of things to talk about.” I said while adjusting her cover.
My phone vibrated as I took my seat,I picked it and saw Carl's call.
“What?”
“Aren't you going home tonight?’ He asked and I glanced at my mate.
“No.” I said in a low voice.
“You've got to be kidding me Jayden!” He screeched and I put the phone away from my ear.
“Word is going to get out that you've been staying with an injured rogue for days now.”
“She isn't a rogue, don't call her that.” I warned him.
“I'm sorry.” He said in a low voice. “But in a serious tone, the elders won't be pleased with your actions.” He said worriedly.
“Whatever,I don't care.” I said and hung up.
I glanced at her one more time and sighed. I had to listen to Carl for her sake. If the elders should get a whiff of this, they might agree to cast her out if I refuse to properly identify her.
“I'm sorry I can't stay tonight but I promise I'll be here first thing in the morning.” I said and stood up.
I didn't feel okay with myself as I walked out of the hospital,I murmured as I drove back home. On getting home I went to my bedroom ignoring any form of greeting made by the workers.
After taking a hot bath I went back inside the room to sleep but frowned when I saw that I had missed calls. My heart beated faster when I saw that it was Detrex.
Please don't tell me she's dead.
“Detrex?” He picked immediately I called.
“She is awake, Alpha.”
