Chapter 1: Brutal Bloody Conflict
"Cry all you want, Williams, because nobody is coming to save a pathetic loser like you in this godforsaken city!"
Williams choked out a wet, ragged cough that sprayed thick crimson across the cold concrete floor. Every inch of his body felt like it was being torn apart by wild beasts, raw nerve endings screaming in unison against the biting chill of the subterranean basement.
The heavy iron chair beneath him groaned in protest as his weight shifted, held fast by thick industrial restraints biting deep into his lacerated wrists. It was precisely 2:15 AM on a night when Aethelgard's Sector 9 District wept violently under a roaring rainstorm, masking the muffled sounds of human agony with thunder.
Jeff stood just a few paces away, his expensive Italian leather shoes stepping carelessly through the spreading pool of blood leaking from Williams's battered shins. A cold, sadistic smirk twisted Jeff's handsome features as he gestured lazily to the two massive thugs flanking the chair.
"Hold his hand steady," Jeff commanded, his voice dripping with absolute contempt. "Let's see if our dear family outcast still has any fight left in him after today."
Without a second of hesitation, the larger of the two thugs clamped a heavy, calloused hand over Williams's right palm, pressing it flat against the frozen armrest. The other thug stepped forward holding a pair of heavy, rusted medical pliers with jaws designed to crush bone.
Williams lifted his chin, his vision swimming violently behind a heavy curtain of sweat mixed with gore. His chest heaved with shallow, burning breaths as he locked his dagger-sharp grey eyes directly onto Jeff's gaze.
"You're going to pay for this, Jeff," Williams rasped, his voice sounding like grinding stones. "Every single second of this pain will come back to haunt your miserable soul."
"Is that a threat from a stray dog?" Stefanie sneered, stepping out from the gloomy shadows of the damp concrete pillar.
She wore an immaculate white silk dress that starkly contrasted with the hellish brutality of the basement. In her delicate, manicured hand, she held a heavy glass beaker filled with smoking, highly corrosive industrial acid.
Stefanie tilted her head with a chilling, artificial sweetness, her eyes gleaming with malicious satisfaction. She had watched Williams struggle from the very bottom of society, and crushing him completely brought a twisted thrill to her dark heart.
"You were always a mistake in our family lineage, Williams," Stefanie whispered, stepping closer until the acrid scent of the chemical filled his lungs. "A stain that needed to be scrubbed clean permanently."
Before Williams could utter another word, the rusted pliers clamped down mercilessly over the nail of his index finger. A sharp, blinding flash of white-hot agony tore through his central nervous system, cutting off his breath in an instant.
With a brutal wrenching twist, the thug tore the nail away from the flesh. A fountain of fresh, hot blood erupted across the gray cement, accompanied by Williams's muffled, guttural roar of pure torment that echoed off the damp walls.
"One down, nine to go," Jeff laughed softly, leaning down to pat Williams's blood-streaked cheek with patronizing mockery. "How does it feel to know you are entirely powerless?"
Williams's entire frame trembled violently, cold sweat freezing over his forehead while his pulse hammered frantically against his temples. The sheer physical agony surpassed the normal thresholds of human endurance, pushing his consciousness right to the razor-thin edge of total blackness.
Yet, deep within the dark abyss of his shattered body, an icy flame ignited. His fingers clenched involuntarily into tight, bloody fists inside the tight leather bindings, refusing to surrender his soul to the darkness.
"You think this breaks me?" Williams whispered through blood-soaked lips, a terrifying, defiant smile breaking across his broken face. "I will crawl straight out of hell to watch you both burn."
"Stubborn trash to the very end," Stefanie scoffed, her face twisting in sudden disgust as she raised the glass beaker high above his chest. "Let's see how much defiance you have left when this burns straight through your heart."
With a flick of her wrist, Stefanie tilted the container, pouring a thick stream of steaming acid directly onto the raw, exposed lacerations across Williams's chest. The chemical reaction was instantaneous and violently explosive.
Sizzling flesh filled the air alongside a thick, choking plume of gray smoke as the acid ate hungrily into his muscle and skin. Williams let out a harrowing, soul-shattering scream that tore his vocal cords to shreds, his back arching off the iron chair in agonizing spasms.
Blood and liquefied tissue bubbled together, pouring in heavy streams down his torso to feed the expanding crimson lake beneath the chair. His vision flickered wildly like a dying lightbulb, shadows swallowing the corners of the dank basement as his heart rate plunged dangerously low.
"Look at him, he's finally passing out," one of the thugs muttered, stepping back from the smoking chemical runoff with a nervous twitch in his eye.
"Good. Toss his broken carcass into the Sector 9 industrial waste incinerator," Jeff ordered coldly, straightening his jacket cuffs without a single ounce of remorse. "Make sure nothing is left of him for the morning scavengers to find."
Stefanie tossed the empty glass beaker aside, watching indifferently as it shattered into a thousand glittering pieces against the concrete floor. She turned on her heel, her white dress swishing gracefully as she walked toward the exit stairs.
"Let's go, Jeff," Stefanie said dismissively over her shoulder. "We have a high society gala to attend, and I refuse to be late because of this garbage."
The two thugs moved in quickly, unbuckling the heavy iron restraints from Williams's limp, bleeding wrists with practiced efficiency. His dead weight collapsed heavily onto the floor, a broken, mutilated doll drowning in his own warm blood.
They grabbed him roughly by his ankles, dragging his ruined body across the abrasive concrete toward the rusted service elevator that led down to the subterranean drainage tunnels. Every bump against the floor sent fresh waves of agony rippling through his collapsing nervous system, though he could no longer even muster the strength to scream.
Thrown carelessly into the back of a rusted utility van, Williams was hauled away into the relentless downpour of the Aethelgard night. The van's engine roared to life, splashing muddy water over the deserted alleys as it sped toward the toxic dumping grounds at the edge of the industrial zone.
Arriving at the desolate waste facility, the thugs hoisted his unconscious body over the high metal railing without a word of hesitation. They dropped him unceremoniously into the churning abyss of industrial sludge and hazardous chemical runoff, watching him sink beneath the dark, bubbling surface.
"Rest in pieces, you arrogant bastard," the driver spat into the rain before climbing back into the vehicle and speeding away into the foggy darkness.
The heavy silence of the wasteland reclaimed the area, broken only by the relentless drumming of the heavy storm clouds overhead. Williams's body drifted downward into the toxic mire, his heartbeat slowing down to a faint, erratic rhythm at the absolute threshold of death.
Just as the final spark of life threatened to extinguish forever within his chest, a low, rhythmic hum echoed softly beneath the churning sludge. A specialized tactical submarine belonging to an elite, unseen underground faction glided silently through the underwater drainage pipes.
Heavy titanium doors hissed open beneath the surface, and a pair of armored medical operatives pulled Williams's mangled body inside before sealing the hatch shut. The vessel accelerated swiftly into the subterranean depths, vanishing entirely from the surface world.
Hours ticked away in sterile white medical bays humming with the quiet power of advanced life-support machinery. Bright surgical lights beat down mercilessly on Williams's reconstructed chest, where automated laser scalpel arms worked with cold precision to purge the remaining acid toxins from his flesh.
Inside the deepest chambers of his unconscious mind, the physical pain transformed into a raging furnace of pure hatred. Faces of Jeff and Stefanie laughing echoed endlessly through his thoughts, feeding an obsessive, unyielding hunger for absolute destruction.
His eyelids suddenly snapped wide open, revealing eyes that no longer held the warmth of a living human being. They burned with a terrifying, lifeless silver intensity, fixed entirely on the blank steel ceiling above him.
"Are you awake, Mr. Williams?" a synthesized electronic voice echoed from the wall intercom, breaking the tense silence of the recovery suite. "Your new life starts right now. Who is our first target?"
