Chapter 4: Attacked

“Do you know her?” Calissa asked.

Jake didn’t know what to say afterwards, with the huge shock on his face, he was literally speechless. Calissa knew he wasn’t married or so he thought, she did not even have a clue. He hurriedly excused himself, held and dragged jana to the side corner of the receptionist stand. He said “What exactly are you doing here?” He barked with his heart racing fast.

He couldn’t believe she would secretly follow him, he’s still in great shock, his whole body became so weak due to the shock.

“Dammn it! For the last time, I ask you, why did you follow me here?” He rudely said.

“I told you to watch your back, didn’t i?” Jana snapped with her voice shaking and mind racing in her chest with huge satisfaction.

That statement always gave Jake goosebumps.

At this juncture, jana couldn’t let go of how she felt towards jake, so she stylishly hid it, so he wouldn’t notice. She was scared of being obsessed and not being loved in return.

“I’m your wife, Jake! You should have respected my opinion. But no! You didn’t. So you and your so called ex are going to eat whatever i dished out in pain,” jana yelled with a smirk on her lips.

Jake raised his trembling hand towards jana, the hand almost landed on her face but she dodged the hot slap and then held his hand, she gazed directly at Jake’s terrified eyes before allowing words out of her mouth. “Don’t you dare! Your precious damsel, Calissa is waiting for you Mr. Billionaire CEO,” She said rudely and strode away.

Jake didn’t know Calissa had become unconscious for some minutes after eating the meal that was served on a golden plate. He raised her head up from the table, but she couldn’t sit on her own. It suddenly dawned on Jake that Jana may have allegedly poisoned the meal.

“Are you cop, 635?”

“………Yeah,” he answered.

Jake’s heart just left his chest, he couldn’t breathe well though but he spoke hurriedly “There’s an assassination attempt case right now and the killer is on the run, plate number: 000-NY-07,” He yelled so they could hear him loud and clear.

Jake on the other hand had started catching feelings and was overly obsessed with jana, because why is she always insecure when a lady is around him. He didn’t want jana to go to jail. Calissa Smith was the only daughter of her parents. She’s the eyes of her parents. If anything happens to her, it automatically happens to them.

Jake hurriedly flipped his two hands around Calissa’s waist and then rushed her to his car. Kelly immediately zoomed off to the national hospital in Legion city.

On reaching the hospital, the Nurses, Doctors were all on standby with the ambulance, Jake

had already called them to get prepared.

Calissa was swiftly moved to the ICU for proper evaluation and treatment.

A nurse had already taken a picture of her laying lifeless on the bed. The picture immediately went viral. To the extent that, bloggers, news headlines carried it.

Jake’s phone started buzzing uncontrollably, Calissa’s parents called and are still calling, Jay and Chante Moretti called, it was really hell for Enzo. “She caused this!!!!!!!” He teared up and yelled.

Jana was still on the run, on moving forward, siren vehicles surrounded her instantly. She couldn’t move forward or backward.

“Come down now, or we’ll burn both you and the car,” one of the cops said harshly, ready to ring out gunshots.

Jana came down, and one of cops yelled “ Your hands above your head,” her wrist was handcuffed.

She became numb and started screaming “i can explain, i can explain, it wasn’t intentional.”

The cop didn’t even retort back. He kept pushing her towards their vehicle and drove to the station, few kilometers away from the restaurant.

They threw her into a den of criminals, people who had committed same or even more lethal crimes. Jana almost puked up when she entered because the place was smiling like dead rats cage.

“Take me out of here, you can put me in another cell not this, please!!!!” Jana begged.

“What made you better off than those there, you ass hole, common shut your damn mouth,” A cop said as if Jana had offended him prior to this.

In few days time, jana would have to bring in a lawyer to stand by her, they collected her phone, so she couldn’t reach her uncle, Zaria drew and even Selena, her friend and colleague.

She would have to appear in court, so the court could give their orders, either punishment or freedom.

The hospital confirmed that Calissa was poisoned. Rigorous treatments were ongoing to revive her back. Jake became so restless and emotional he would sit, stand up, move around the hospital hallway while Kelly on the other hand would encourage and console him.

Kelly hadn't seen Jake panicking like this before. He was always hard to get, especially when it comes to ladies affairs he didn'tgive a f**k and now he’s trying so hard to resist loving Jana. “So why now?” Kelly whispered to herself.

“Take a chill pill, boss! Everything will surely be okay,” Kelly said in a calm tone voice

Instantly, Jake’s phone rang, it was his parents.

“Hey, son. Which hospital are you? I and your dad are coming.” Chante blurted.

Jake had lost every strength in him, still trying to hold up. “Hello mom, we are at Premium Star National Hospital,” he said.

“Okay, will be there in some minutes,” She retorted.

Calissa moved her hand a bit, to the Doctor and Nurses that was a sign of relief and recovery. It means she’ll recover fast. Her drip got finished, another drip was fixed. The Doctor who had known Enzo for long now, went to him, tapped his shoulder and said “She will recover soon, just chin up and relax.”

“Thank you Doctor!” Jake said silently.

“Is she your wife?” He asked

“No she’s not, Doctor. She’s a friend of mine,” Jake said anyways.

Jake’s parents and Calissa’s parents came in at the same time. They were all worried about Calissa and Jake. Immediately, they came in, they both struggled their way in to see Calissa, but the Doctor gave an order that no one was permitted to see her until her heart beat stabilized. They all sat at the guests arena, waiting patiently to see Calissa. Mr. Zayn Smith flared up.

“Who the hell did this to my precious daughter? He or she would be sentence to life imprisonment because this act of attempted murder is punishable by the law. I promise to see that the person is greatly punish.” He said as his heart sank and tears trickling down his cheeks.

Out of the blue Jake retorted…………..

“No way!!!!!!”
