Chapter_One: Into The Woods.
POV: Unknown [Somewhere 1998] It was a dark, cold autumn night as I rampaged through the woods with no clue of where I was heading to. All I wanted was to go far away from home. Anyone would ask, "Why am I running away from home?". Series of unpleasant memories flashed in my mind. The angry faces, the forks, rakes, bats, fire torches. The Holy water and the cross. I wonder what that was for. Tears welled up in my eyes as I remembered his facial expression as he tried to protect us . Blood oozing from his sides. They shoved a knife right through his heart before my eyes . I limped through the woods holding her tightly in my arms . Today I lost my husband but I am not losing my daughter . I grew weaker and weaker as the minutes passed by. The voices of the angry mob grew louder and they seemed angrier and determined than before . I knew exactly what will happen next and I needed to act fast . * * * * * * * * I have been lost in the woods for about an hour now . My feet got blisters from walking that long. My lips were dry and my throat burned with thirst for water . My back ached so bad that I wanted to lie down. The voices behind me grew louder and louder. The fallen dry branches and dead leaves on the ground creaked under my feet as I shuffled through the woods . I started to feel dizzy because I was weary and weak. Everything grew silent as I stared right into my daughter's pale blue eyes that looked exactly like her father's, and fell to the ground. Everything around me started to blur out. My eyes focusing in and out. They opened and closed like a child opening her eyes for the first time. I almost gave in but the heavens paved a way. I saw an opening at the base of a big oak tree. It looked safe for the mean time so I took shelter there. I lay down a thick fine blue black cloth in front of me, on the ground and lay her tiny body wrapped in white napkins, peacefully on it. She begun to cry the moment I let go of her. She wailed very loudly that I had to shush her up but she would not quiet down. I took my necklace, with the insignia of the Clinette Witches hanging on it. I placed it around her neck and she stopped crying. Instead she took an interest in the insignia and held unto it She heled unto it and made baby noises. I sat leg crossed before her, closed my eyes, taking a deep breath, I gave my full concentration to what I was doing. The forest drew silent all around. Everything was still, including the leaves that danced to the tune of the cold night wind. This is the right thing to do. I chanted in my head. And with all my willpower, I cast a protective spell on my child. It was effective for only five days. And for that time period I could only hope that fate takes it easy on her. The spell almost took my magic away. I was so weak I could not cast a protective spell upon myself. My heartbeat started to slow down. Everything started to blur out and move out of focus. Soon all was dark and I remembered no more.
