It was the first day of classes and I was actually dreading going to potions class. I didn’t want to have to see the professor's face knowing that his girlfriend hated me because he mentioned me. I took the seat that had all the books I knew were for me. They were the advanced books that I would have done next year but with me being ahead I got to do them now.
Class finished and I used the spell to take the books to my room to get to lunch before Future seeing class. The first year my class had to take it. This meant that for many of my peers it will be the last year they take potions.
“Miss Russell. Can I speak to you?” Professor Lucas asked while a few students will still in the class which made them stare at me and the uncomfortable feeling I had got worst.
“I was going to go to lunch.” I tried to make an excuse for not staying and talking to him.
“I know that it is lunchtime, but I wanted to ask about the book I lent you.” He stood by his lecture podium. It felt like his girlfriend said something with the distance he was also giving.
“It was good. I didn’t get to try any of it.” I told him honestly.
“If you want to do those from that book let me know we can leave some of the books I gave you for next year.” He told me.
“Sure.” I moved closer to the door hoping that would be it for the day. He didn’t say anything and I walked out the door to the head to the dining hall to meet up with the girls and have lunch.
I sat next to Allie who was talking to a guy right across from her. Gina came a bit later. She sat next to me.
“Who the guy?” Gina asked.
“No, clue but Allie is very interested.”
“He does too. I wish I had that.”
“I don’t really care, but then no guy wants to be around me.”
“You know why?” Gina asked me.
“I can only figure with the relationship I had with the professor.”
“Had? What happened?” Gina turned her body to stadle the bench to look at me.
“I don’t think I could be close to him with an adult thinking the way they do. I also think she said something to him. He never got close to me in class.”
“And he used to get close?” Gina asked.
“Gina, don’t, I meant as a teacher.” I moved my head away from her. I got food to put on my plate and started eating.
I walked to the future seeing class not happy to be in a class that didn’t seem to do much in my personal opinion. I took a seat away from everyone since I wasn’t going to have anyone who would want to be around me anyway.
I was wrong a guy from my class decided to sit next to me when there were open seats around the class.
“Hi, I’m-.”
“Draven.” I finished for him. “I know who you are. Kind of surprised that you are willing to sit next to me. I’m guessing it is a bet with someone.”
“Wow.”
“I know what happens with what it said about me. None of it’s true so you can go find someone else to sit with.” I said to him waiting for the professor to show up and get the class started.
“No the wow was because that is a lot of assumptions. I wanted to sit next to you.”
“I’m not going to be your partner so you can mooch off me.”
“Lena, seriously do you have trust issues?” He said to me. That made me stop and look at him. “I wanted to sit next to you in hopes to get to know you.”
“Sorry, that is hard to believe.”
“Welcome class to your first ever future seeing class. I am Professor David.”
The rest of the class went very slowly and dragged more than I wanted. My suspicions about the class were solidified by how long it took to get through the first day of class.
Draven walked with me to my next class without saying a word before he walked to his class.
“Was that Draven?” Gina asked. The one class that we had this year together is herbology.
“Yes, he wants to sit next to me in future seeing.”
“Oh my God really?” Gina was really excited about it.
“Why are you so excited about that,” I asked her.
“I think it’s cool that a guy is interested in you.”
“I guess.”
Herbology was great. I was ahead of a lot of my classmates again. Gina liked that she was my friend and was able to get to know more answers than others. I knew that was going to be a problem. Once we walked out of class Draven was waiting there for me.
“Gina, Draven, Draven, Gina.” I said.
“Nice to meet you,” Draven said to Gina.
“We sat together last year,” Gina told him.
“Oh. Sorry. You have changed a lot I didn’t recognize you.” I knew that he was lying. Gina hadn’t changed that much over the summer.
Draven put his arm around my shoulder and I knew that meant he liked me more than I thought. Wasn’t sure how long it would last.
