Chapter 3

Amanda Black We were in the police station for almost an hour. It was already six in the evening. I was scrolling through my precious phone. This is the only gift from my only late friend. I miss him. "You are still awake?" Zyan asked, a little shocked. I nodded in response. "Why don't you come in? The chief wants to talk." "Oh, you are awake!" she exclaimed. I plopped on the chair opposite her once I entered. "Darling, we need your blood sample." "What?!" I was confused. "We did our investigation, child, but..." she stood up from her chair and sat on the chair beside me. "We didn't get much about your father. We need the blood sample because we want to search for your relatives through your DNA, as you don't know any. So..." "What will they do?" I interrupted. "They? They might take you in." She smiled. "What if they don't, or I don't have any?" I asked. I knew I had one relative, my maa... "Then you both will be in foster care." Her smile dropped. "Hmm..I think she is not my biological mom." I say this before pulling a few hair strands and giving them to her. "I hope that will help." "Then we will find her." She spoke with hope laced through her voice and eyes. I nodded in response before going out. It was morning already, and I was still at the police station. Ryan bought me a burger on his way to work. That was what I was chewing at the moment. "Hey, can you come in?" Ryan asked. I did the same as yesterday. Went and sat on the seat opposite Chief Elizabeth. "I know I had to tell you about this yesterday, but due to an emergency I had to leave..." "What is it?" I asked, interrupting her. "Good news, we found your biological brother, Xavier Black." I hummed for her to continue, still chewing on the burger in my hand. "You both were separated from them when your father divorced your biological mother and got your custody." I had to kill that douche! "He is more than willing to take both you and your sister into custody!" I just nodded and got up to go out. But turned around. "Can you do me a favor?" "Yes! Of course, I pulled out the three thousand dollars from my pocket and gave it to her. "Can you give this to Florida's dad?" I asked. "Yes, I can." I picked up my phone and dialed Florida's number. AM stands for AMANDA, AL stands for ALEXANDRA, and FD stands for FLORIDA'S DAD. AM- Hello? AL- Mandal! Where are you? Did you know about... AM- I'm at the police station; are you fine? AL-Yes!! What do we do? AM- Don't you know? AL-Let me complete... AM-Aghhh okay. AL- I got to know that Flo's dad got a call. I wanted to ask about the house. AM- I don't care about that. Now give it to Fread. AL- Okay. Uncle Fread... FD- Hello child!" AM- I'm sending you some money through the chief; take my sister shopping. FD-Omg. You didn't have to send the money. AM-I don't like the pity. If you still want to help, pay if she over buys. FD- Okay, darling. For you? AM- No! and...... FD- And? AM- Thank you!? FD-Oh, silly, don't thank me. AM-Bye!! FD & AL- Bye! take care.. I cut the call and looked at Elizabeth. "Make sure he gets the money." I told her before leaving. She looked at me, confused. It was half past one in the afternoon. I still had three more thousand in my pocket. I was currently waiting for Ally. Florida's dad's car came screeching into the airport. I guess he wants a bad day. I stormed towards him and asked him to get out of the car. He was quite short; he was just 5'7. I took that as a chance and slapped him across the face. He deserved it. He looked at me, shocked. "Never drive that car at that speed again!" I warned, and he just nodded. I hear Ally and Florida gasp. "Manda, apologize to him now." Ally pouted, coming closer to me. "No!" I stated. But she kept her face straight, glaring at me. "Okay, fine. Sorry." I gave in; I never won over that face of hers. "It's okay, child; you were right anyway." He smiled. I rolled my eyes and let Ally say her goodbyes. We had an hour and a half flight to San Francisco. We had more than an hour for the flight. We walked into the airport and went straight for check-in. 'What might be in that line..." I heard Ally murmur to herself and looked in the direction she was looking and saw the business class line. I rolled my eyes. I removed her hearing aid without her noticing and turned around to get myself checked in. "Can you please change our tickets to first class or business class?" I asked. "First class costs extra!" The lady in front of me told me. "I'll pay!" I told her and paid her the rest of the money. She checked me into business class and gave me the ticket. "Can you not tell her?" I asked, and she looked at me confused. "It's a surprise!" I said, smiling. She smiled back before nodding. I turned around, and Ally was smiling shyly. I plugged in her earpiece and stepped aside. She got herself checked in. ========== Alexandra Black We went to the waiting room and waited for our flight call. Manda had packed all my stuff for me; she even sent money to Uncle Fread so he could take me shopping. I didn't spend a lot. I just bought three tops and pants. I was not so close to mom or dad like Manda. She was their favorite child. Every time they had a party or anything, they would tell me to stay at Flo's, and Manda always got to attend. Yes, they would sometimes hit her, and that was because they wanted her to be perfect in everything. And with me, they don't even care. I'm not saying it's right to hit her; it's actually painful. But they at least show some emotions toward her. I don't care; she is my sister, and she deserves to be loved. She still goes through a lot of pain when they hit her. It's not like they hit her every day, but they do hit her once every ten days, and she will be in a lot of pain when they do. We got our call for the flight, we walked in, and we showed our tickets to the attendant. She smiled and gestured for us to follow her. We did, but she left economy class and went into first class. I looked at her, confused. "Excuse me!" I called for her. "Yes!" "I think you are mistaken; ours is the economy." "I'm sorry, but your ticket says it is business." "Because it is," Manda said, bored. I looked at her, confused. "Important?" She asked, and I shook my head. She fake-grinned and followed the attendant. She sat next to the window, and I got the one beside her. The flight soon took off, and I leaned closer to her to look through the window to see how the world below me looked. She got up from the seat. I looked up at her, not wanting to make her angry. She motioned for me to take her seat. I shook my head. "Go before I change my mind." She told me. She never completed her sentences or made any proper ones. She only gave the keywords, but those were more than enough. I stood up, took her seat, and looked outside the window at the beautiful city. ************* They were leaving their past behind. They were going to them, who had been waiting for them for years.
