What Fabian taught him was similar to what they’d been learning in Water Balancing, such as focusing on feeling the element in their bodies and translating that to control. Water was all around, and when Owen concentrated he could feel it like a pressure in his chest that he could direct out to his fingers. He did understand that hand motions were the key to telling the elements where to go; he could feel what he wanted to do, illustrate with his hands, and the element would obey. The balancing stances and positions felt intuitive to Owen, and he soaked up that knowledge eagerly. He learned to control fire very quickly once someone else had brought it into existence for him; the problem came with summoning it.
