The One I Cannot Have

She fell to the ground. Her body collapsed with a sickening thud that screamed through the cold, dull air around me. Though I was sweating at the moment, I could feel the chilling on my body. Her head started bleeding, she started bleeding. A lot. A stark and horrifying contrast against the pale, lifeless white marble of the floor. The ground started flooding with her blood. I was standing in a pool of her blood. "What did I do?" I whispered and I was in terrible shock. Did I just kill her? The blood did not just splash a little; it spread all over in a matter of time, saturating the ground beneath her. It was looking as if the ground itself was being transformed into a nightmare of a river in the color of bloody red, flowing ominously around her in still form. I stood there, paralyzed and numb, my mind trying to process what just happened, with my own hands, in front of the love of my life. The weight of the situation pressed down on me, suffocating and relentless, as everything just stopped, going on in very slow motion. "Finish it. Now" I heard his voice, but I couldn't move. My hands trembled, still clutching the blood-splattered bat. I was so shocked and scared that I couldn't move or do anything. All I could do was stand there and stare at what I had done in a matter of seconds out of horror. He got up from his place and took the bat from my hand. He had a serious and yet scary look in his eyes as he took the bat from my shaking hands. Holding the bat tightly, he lifted it, prepared to strike and finish her off for good. He was about to hit her when he realized she was already dead. He could see it now, as clearly as I could – the life had already been snatched from her body. She was gone. I killed her. What happened? Why isn't she moving" I asked in a low voice, observing her face, trying to look for any movement of her body. I fell on the ground. Crawling away from the bloodshed, I never felt this weak in my life. I felt the organs inside me just getting blended in a mixer grinder. I felt sick, I could feel my stomach wanting to throw up.
