Chapter 1 Return with His Mistress
Zahara Lewis lay on the bed, her face flushed, her body seemingly melting into a pool of warm water, flowing helplessly.
The man leaned closer, whispering into her ear in a low, seductive tone, "Did it feel good?"
Breathing heavily, Zahara revealed deep satisfaction in her eyes and nodded slightly.
The man's lips curled into a smile when he saw her alluring face, his eyes suddenly igniting with a flame that seemed capable of setting the world ablaze.
Then, with a voice filled with undeniable dominance, he declared, "Let's make our relationship official."
Zahara did not respond with words. Instead, she raised her hand to hook around his neck and offered her lips willingly.
Even childhood sweethearts could betray each other.
Why should she count on a mere lover?
'Men are all the same.'
He didn't ask again, silently returning the kiss, but something unfathomable flashed in his eyes.
The next morning, the man left early due to his business, while Zahara still slept soundly.
However, not long after, a sudden ring woke her up.
She reached for her phone and saw it was a call from "Grandpa Owen", instantly sitting up alert.
As Owen Lewis's voice fell, her fingers tightened, and she firmly stated, "I'm on my way."
Hanging up the phone, she exhaled deeply, emotions surging within her like a tide.
Her childhood sweetheart and husband—Yuri Lewis, the man who had cruelly abandoned her on their wedding day to elope with a mistress.
After three long years, he finally came back, and he brought back his pregnant mistress.
Although the separation had eroded any lingering feelings she had for Yuri, she couldn't tolerate him brazenly bringing his mistress and illegitimate child home.
This was not only a matter of personal dignity but also involved the reputation and business interests of both the Lewis and White families.
Despite her turmoil, Zahara swiftly booked a flight to Sophiapolis and efficiently dealt with any remaining matters.
Yet, just before leaving, the handsome face of Xavier Brown flashed in her mind.
So, Zahara tapped out a message on her phone, intending to end this relationship.
Back then, when Yuri abandoned the Verdiville project to flee overseas, Zahara took over the mess left behind.
During a business trip, drowning her sorrows in alcohol, she unexpectedly encountered Xavier.
They clicked unexpectedly, their chemistry leading to a passionate encounter, and they discovered their bodies were perfectly matched.
Zahara thought, since Yuri had betrayed her first, it was only fair for her to find comfort in another's arms, so she established a long-term relationship.
To be honest, these three years had been truly happy ones, and she had grown quite fond of Xavier.
But now she was going back to Sophiapolis to reclaim her role as Yuri Lewis's wife, so despite any reluctance, she had to end her affair.
This relationship was just for fun, so it was better not to let it interfere with her real life.
As Zahara flew to Sophiapolis, Xavier sat in a luxurious private room, gazing at a row of exorbitantly priced diamond rings on the table, feeling undecided.
His friends smiled and offered suggestions.
"Why don't you give her all of them, Xavier? Say you couldn't choose which one she'd like."
"That way, Zahara will surely be impressed, and the proposal will be a success!"
Their advice brought a smile to Xavier's stern face, revealing a tender side.
His encounter with Zahara had been an accident, but it scratched an itch that had lingered in his heart for years.
At that time, Zahara mistook him for a male model. Fearing his true identity would scare her off, he played along as the clingy young lover.
But Xavier no longer planned to continue this charade.
It was time to reveal his true intentions.
Just as Xavier pondered whether to take their advice, a text message appeared on his screen.
Zahara: Let's break up. I'm going back to Sophiapolis. The apartment we usually stay in is yours. Consider it a parting gift.
'Break up?' Xavier's gaze froze on the screen for a few seconds, then shifted to the diamond rings. His heart ached, and his expression turned icy.
He remained silent for a moment, like the eerie calm before a storm, then dialed her number.
Unaware of the brewing storm, a friend leaned in and joked, "Is your lady checking up on you?"
"She must be head over heels for you. Just imagine how overjoyed she would be if she knew you were planning to propose!"
'Head over heels? Happy?'
Zahara had just dumped him!
The anger in Xavier's heart erupted uncontrollably.
Simultaneously, a cold, mechanical female voice announced, "The number you have dialed is temporarily unavailable."
