I didn’t even realize I was on the table before a guy was shouting at me to get down. The guy, Charles, had gotten up from his chair and was backing away while giving me an impish smile. The rest of his guards were advancing on me. One of them had grabbed a poker from the fireplace. I balled my hands to fists and was placing myself in a fighting stance when the guys suddenly froze, fear on their faces. I heard a snarl and in front of me was a wolf with auburn fur.
